2 protesters emerge from the Capitol — in high spirits — and talk about the conditions inside.

When people leave, others from a line go in to replace them, so the number inside remains the same. One of the young men says he hadn't seen the light of day in 72 hours. They seem to be okay about sleeping on the stone floor, and they report that it's been kind of fun — that they even had a sack race last night (using sleeping bags).

A protest relay?

This too shall pass.

There must always be shlubs, many many shlubs for idealists to ride and admire the view and each other, while the shlubs bent under their burden view the ground.

As Franklin observed during the constitutional convention, nothing great can be accomplished without taking the time to have fun activities that foster togetherness. These are great times in which we live in.

Obviously, they don't work and they aren't students,so the union sent them.

Even a curmudgeonly pro-Walker guy like me can appreciate seeing those youngsters in good humor after an experience like this. It really does seem that it's Party On Garth time. Or an Animal House prank.

People sleep in the dark and on the floor while Obama hobnobs with the famous.

"It's fun!"

Yes, I'm not surprised that some of them treat this like a big game. Let's go down to the protests today! Maybe we'll get on TeeVee! Whee!

Look, there's a Republican. Let's terrorize him.

Who's paying their tuition, assuming they are in college? Their parents? What a waste. I have always told my sons - one has graduated, the other in his last year of college - that if I ever discovered they were at a protest instead of in classes I was never going to pay another dime for college.

The people in charge of access to the capitol have started a blog informing people about access to the Capitol..

Lem - I don't get your point. Lots of people sleep in worse conditions than whomever is living in the White House at the time. What does President Obama have to do with anything?

Nope. I don't believe those kids. I don't even believe they're from Madison. And, their jackets didn't look like they had a food stain on them. Or had been on their bodies for "72 hours." SET UP!

The sack races? The yoga? REALLY? Did they have to use bullhorns to organize everybody?

Looks like the whole thing is dying down. And, I thought it wouldn't be gone till Spring Break. Which is just around the corner.

Now, will a hired bus come along bringing all 14 back at once? Or will they meander in one by one?

If they come in a group will they be carrying protest signs? Will they call their friends in the media, to get a little bit of coverage?

Meanwhile, how many police officers who work in Madison haven't logged onto this blog?

How many of these students are willing to protest on their own time (Spring Break) as opposed to school time? It's one thing to miss classes (I bet there are no engineering, biochem, or math majors in there); it's another thing to miss a trip to wherever the kids go for spring break these days.

OT: Hey Ali, a Methodist indeed!

"A gunman shouting "Allah Akbar" opened fire on a bus carrying U.S. airmen in Frankfurt, Germany, killing two and wounding two others before his gun jammed and he was subdued, officials said. An ethnic Albanian from Kosovo was taken into custody and the FBI was heading an investigation because U.S. citizens were killed and to determine whether the shooting was an act of terrorism. (Snip) While being wrestled into submission, the suspect shouted either "Jihad Jihad" or "Allah Akbar," sources said.

TeamOSweet म्हणाले...

Right on dude. Capitol buildings could double as youth hostels. Fifteen bucks a flop, help close the deficit.

Michael म्हणाले...

They won't last much longer. Sadly this short time of deprivation is to them the equivalent of the Bataan Death March, raised as they were on video and immediate gratification. You can see how soft they are, how clean. Like the scarf, however, a nice bit of subtle solidarity with Hamas or confused French students.

Fen म्हणाले...

Well, at least they didn't confuse Mercedes with their peace signs this time.

Dear corrupt left, go F yourselves म्हणाले...

I think we should pay people to have sack races. Give them good benefits and a fully tax payer funded retirement.

dick म्हणाले...

This isn't a protest, it is an ongoing pajama party with free pizzas furnished by the idiots in California who call the local pizza party to deliver to the Capitol Building. Just what are they protesting by having sack races and making noises. I think the Governor should start charging room rent for sleeping in the Capitol. Might be able to make a dent in the deficit by charging the union people and the protesters fees. They can charge fees for staying overnight in state parks; why not do the same with the Capitol. They can have higher fees because of the increased cost of living in Madison vs living in the woods. How about $50/night + soap + charge for use of the bathrooms. Extra for use of the electrical hookups inside as well. Make a few bucks from these people. Charge them fees for entry to the buildings, more fees for having meetings. Do it up right. Maybe the government can work a deal with the pizza parlor and get a cut from that as well. All in a good cause and just think of the stories the protesters will be able to tell their grandkids. Why, back in 2011, you grandma and me went to Madison and we actually stayed in the Capitol Building. No cheap-a@@ Super 8 Motel for us; only the best. We had it rough, though. We had to furnish our own towels and dishes and s*it. Not like you young whippersnappers now. We done good back then. Kep the state safe for you so you can have collective bargaining for you minimum wage jobs. Just think, if we hadn't done that you would not have been able to bargain a bigger pension and higher taxes. You'da been proud of us and you should be. We did it all for you,you know; everything for the cheeelllldddrrreeennnnnn!! That's the motto.
