The first rebuke of Pelosi by her colleagues came Tuesday, when Democratic dissidents forced a six-hour caucus meeting to vent their frustrations. The next blow came Wednesday, when the dissidents forced a secret ballot on whether to postpone a vote on Pelosi - and then won a larger-than-expected 68 votes. That essentially meant a vote of no-confidence in Pelosi by 35 percent of the incoming Democratic caucus.LOL.
And in yet another rebuke of the fallen speaker, 43 Democrats voted for her symbolic challenger, moderate Heath Shuler (N.C.) - even though few regarded Shuler as a qualified candidate and only a couple dozen of Shuler's colleagues in the moderate Blue Dog Coalition could vote....
[A]s the closed-door session dragged on, the soon-to-be-minority lawmakers grew restless. Rep. Barney Frank (Mass.), taking a break from the proceedings, told reporters that his colleagues were delayed because "they're having trouble spelling 'Murkowski' "...
The face of the Democratic Party puts on a brave face:
"They know her will! Most important, they know her heart! And that was what was felt today: the heartfelt feeling of this caucus behind this great leader!"
I love that quote, from Rep. John Larson. Will, I mean HEART. Heart! Heart! Heart! That's so deeply symbolic of everything the House Democrats have been up to these last few years.

They had a chance at a real changing of the guard and blew it.
Early Christmas present for the GOP. They should start every session by asking Pelosi if she has any non-binding resolutions she would like to get passed.
Finally, a non Bigot-O-Mania posting!
Or, maybe I speak too soon.
Is there a way to transform this into the great Bigot-O-Mania obsession?
Now, if only they had the will to cut out her heart,...
It's fucking sad, man. Oh well - free ice cream for everybody!
The centrist democrats are all gone in the House - wiped out by Pelosi/Reid/Obama.
This was the crazy left voting for the insane left, and still she couldn't muster a unanimous win.

This was not entirely unexpected….The US suffered defeat in Vietnam, but Westmoreland and Creighton Abrams were promoted to Chief of Staff of the Army. Just because you lose, doesn’t mean that your organization wants to publicly admit it. Further, who lost in 2010? Mostly it was the Blue Dogs. If you look at Pelosi’s Caucus, it is much more liberal now, than in 2008. She’s very liberal, the liberals didn’t lose in 2010, so who else WOULD they select as their leader? One of their own, OR admit they blew it and select a leader from a MINORITY sub-caucus?
Please note, I don’t say this is right or smart, but it isn’t unexpected. In 2006 the GOP got “thumped” it took a while to learn the lessons, and it can be argued that the GOP hasn’t learned any lessons, but that the Tea Party Movement “schooled” the GOP.
The first stage of grief is denial. Stay tuned for anger and bargaining. Hopefully we can get to acceptance.
There is a rumor that only TSA agents have accepted Pelosi's invitation for Thanksgiving ;)
Meet the New Boss -- same as the Old Boss.
In a few years when Barney is finally ushered out of DC, folks here will miss his sense of humor.
Why so sad? Pelosi/Reid can remain the face of the Democrat Party for 2012. This is good.
If you wonder whats wrong with California, here it is:
"Only one in 10 of the state's voters approves of lawmakers' performance, the lowest rating recorded since the Field Poll began checking that particular pulse in 1983."
But we reelected every single one of them.
Feel free to use our state for nuclear weapons testing. I want to contribute something valuable to the union.

Sidebets that Pelosi gets to bypass TSA screening?
She has led us .. right into the agony of defeat!
After a long caucus.. TSA agents have rescinded their acceptance to have Thanksgiving with Pelosi.. citing scheduling conflicts.
You gotta have heart,
Miles and miles and miles of heart,
Oh it's great to win elections of course
But let's put the horse before the cart;
You gotta have heart.
A great Congress we haven't got
A great Caucus we haven't got
A great Speaker we haven't got
What do we got?
We've got Hear-r-r-r-rt.....
Here is an excellent profile of Pelosi. The bite of Taibbi without the tedium.
Why Is Nancy Pelosi Always Smiling?
I had hoped she would resign. Nancy is so haughty. And her smile so fake.
Well for conservatives, she is the gift that keeps on giving.

LMAO As far as I can see from San Francisco to Baja there isn't a whole lot of conservativism in Cali.
As to why Pelosi is always seen smiling. My diagnosis is too many Botox injections, her face is frozen that way.
The centrist democrats are all gone in the House - wiped out by Pelosi/Reid/Obama.
Why have a Republican lite when you can have a real Republican? Increasing partisanship means both RINOS and DINOS are being purged.
"The US suffered defeat in Vietnam, but Westmoreland and Creighton Abrams were promoted to Chief of Staff of the Army."
It is my mission in life to destroy this ignorant myth. Craighten Abrams took over command from Westmorland who had mad a mess of things and fought a brilliant counter insurgency campaign. By 1970 the Viet Cong were no longer a force in the country. After the Easter offensive of 1972, the NVA was rendered a completely ineffective force. These defeats combined with the Christmas 1972 bombing campaign forced the North Vietnamese to agree to the 1973 accords giving the US pretty much everything it wanted.
As soon as major combat ended, the North immediately started re-arming in violation of the Paris accords. Meanwhile, the post Watergate Congress cut off all aid to the South preventing them from arming. Finally, in January 1975, President Ford stated publicly that the US would never intervene in Veitnam again under any circumstances. And the North immeditately took its makeshift army and invaded the South. And that was it.
Make no mistake, Abrams did his job and won on the battlefield. He went on to be a fantastic COS who rebuilt the volunteer force after Vietnam. He is one of the great leaders in American military history.
Good on you, John, for sticking up for abrams. He was a truly outstanding soldier and commander at all levels. He absolutely deserved the cos slot, and was among the best in that role. His great gift, the abrams doctrine, remains with us to this day.
RIP, General, and thank you.
She's better for the Republicans than Sarah P. is for the Democrats.

Don't be so jealous. Not everyone is heartless, let alone proud of their heartlessness.
Pelosi must have some serious dirt in her private files.
