Brett who.

Free two night stay in Door County if you sit through a short presentation on timeshare opportunities?

I go to a 2-story Target that has an escalator just for shopping carts. Ah, here it is on YouTube.

The liberals are filling in lake Mendota so all that potable water can go where it is really needed?

TWM म्हणाले...

The recent rash of compost bags disguised as ice cream bags at checkout stands in hippie grocery stores?

I for one hate those mo-fos. :)

Meade म्हणाले...

"Brett who."

Sorry. I meant Bart Starr.

The hot issue in Madison seems to be the artist who built a studio in his backyard, disguised as a garage. Apparently making art is allowed only in commercial areas.

That sounds awesome! I remember when i first when to an ikea with an excalator just for shopping carts.... (nothing that fancy here in arkansas).

First day of turkey season?

MPorcius म्हणाले...

I think the first shopping cart escalator I saw was in the Bed Bath and Beyond in Manhattan, on the east side, by the 59th Street bridge. It had projecting spikes to seize the carts and carry them. The CostCo I now frequent also has a cart escalator, but it is not very exciting; its just a conveyor belt at a shallow angle.

As a southern guy who sees Wisconsin Army division marble obelisk memorials erected on every civil war battlefield in Georgia, I demand to know where you Wisconsin folks are hiding all of your African American citizens.

@fls

What sort of art was being made? I can understand if welding, sawing, power tools and/or hammering was involved or the public was coming to the studio/garage to purchase art.

Brett Favre?

Everybody knows it has only 1 t, as in Bart's brother ;)

Tibore म्हणाले...

Oh, thank God. Given that Kevin Barrett was part of UW for a while, I was worried this might be a 9/11 Conspiracy Theory brewha. It's not. And that's a good thing. There's enough ignorance in this world without 9/11 "Truth" (yes, scare quotes) conferences.

Phil 314 म्हणाले...

Of course it was a NIMBY meeting.

AllenS म्हणाले...

This is easy: bike trail.

former law student म्हणाले...

where you Wisconsin folks are hiding all of your African American citizens.

The NW side of Milwaukee, as I recall from driving through.

former law student म्हणाले...

bjm: none of the above. The article's on the Isthmus website

X म्हणाले...

how many of those people are pro-choice?

blake म्हणाले...

I guessed leash laws.

Keeping Target on a leash counts, yeah?

Chris म्हणाले...

Zoning! I knew it!

Henry म्हणाले...

Squirrels.

MadisonMan म्हणाले...

I would guess the Hilldale Target, but I thought that meeting happened already.

MadisonMan म्हणाले...

Aah -- last Monday night.

Irene म्हणाले...

It's the anti-crisp-commercial-transactions crowd. Why don't they just walk up Regent Street and throw their ice cream in a compost bag?

Meade म्हणाले...

@ Irene: LOL.

(ps: what a crisply handsome poodle!)

Irene म्हणाले...

Thank you, Meade. That's "Baci." He's a red miniature. He didn't like living in Madison because when people would meet him, they'd say, "oh, I like STANDARD poodles."

Michael Haz म्हणाले...

The onslaught of Hoosier transplants taking up residence in homes within walking distance of campus.

Meade म्हणाले...

Poor Baci. I hope he now lives somewhere progressive -- somewhere free of blatant breedism, where no one laughs at him when he innocently asks for a clean doggie bag.

Meade म्हणाले...

"onslaught"

i.e.: one

Michael Haz म्हणाले...

And a powerful *one* at that, to cause such a meeting of the citizenry. Were the pitchforks lowered before the photo was taken?

Michael Haz म्हणाले...

And speaking of doggy bags - you the biggest problem with those re-usable bags the grocers and greenies are pushing? They are lousy for picking up dig poop. I'll take the plastic bags, thank you.

Michael Haz म्हणाले...

Ack. Make that^^ do you know... and ...dog poop

Moose म्हणाले...

Funny story.

In Chicago, the neighborhoods are ruled by the aldermen. In one northwest neighborhood, the rather strict local zoning ordinances were designed by local retailers, unions and the aldermen to keep the big box stores out. One such chain (name escapes me) couldn't build in the neighborhood, but built one right across the street that demarcated the neighborhood from the the next door non-Chicago neighborhood.

The alderman was a mite peeved, so he just did the next best thing. He had a fence built down the center of the street so no one could easily cross over to the big box store.

Yah gotta love those Chicago pols...

Matt Brown म्हणाले...

Wait. I thought only saints went to Target, and only sinners went to WalMart. Am I wrong somehow?

kentuckyliz म्हणाले...

A community meeting with open mic to brainstorm ways to regulate Other People's Behavior.

knox म्हणाले...

I hope they fight it off and a Wal-Mart gets put in.

tee hee.

Seriously, who doesn't want a Target?

knox म्हणाले...

kentuckyliz, good guess. I'm sure they're working on it.

J. Cricket म्हणाले...

There is a simple, crisp solution!

Put the Target next to Althouse's house. She wouldn't mind. She certainly wouldn't object!

Would you, Althouse?

John Richardson म्हणाले...

Zoning and use permits! And I was right.

As a member of my town's Board of Adjustment for 15 years, I can assure you nothing draws people out on a Monday (or in our case, Tuesday) night like zoning changes, variances, and conditional use permits.

"Traditionalguy" seems to be pro-Confederate.

As a southern guy who sees Wisconsin Army division marble obelisk memorials erected on every civil war battlefield in Georgia, I demand to know where you Wisconsin folks are hiding all of your African American citizens. .

War's over, hoss.

Hey we do have a a whole special graveyard of Confederate soldiers who were buried here, who died in captivity. Neoconfederates come up here from time to time to raise their flag.

Personally, I oppose the Confederacy, it's flag and it's treasonous ways. But that's me.

Nichevo म्हणाले...

Unbelievable. How are politicians not assassinated in this country every day? We should be seeing 'em on the nightly news like car crashes.

This is not an endorsement of assassination - I just can't believe how much we will tolerate from these, our employees. People worried about gun decontrol leading to shootups should take great heart at this evidence of people's general unwillingness to shoot their fellow man.

Peter Hoh म्हणाले...

Chuck B, is that the 2 story Target in Minneapolis? Here in St. Paul, we have a 2 story Menards with a conveyor belt that will carry you and your shopping cart up to the second floor. The elevator is an option, too.

The past 4-5 years, Target has been building some nice stores in the Twin Cities. Often, they tore down the old to build a new one.

MamaM म्हणाले...

@ Michael H...

But the big question is...
How much poop do bug dogs dig?

Along with the poop, my bug dog digs dog typos.

traditionalguy म्हणाले...

Alpha...I have never met a neo-confederate. In Atlanta we have done well turning ourselves into an international city with every nationality represented in force at most public events. So it surprised me to see a photo of a white only crowd at the University town's public event.

JAL म्हणाले...

There was a zoning meeting IN A CHURCH?

Where is the ACLU when you need them?? Mmmm???

And you, a Law Professor!!

(Targets are nice but have lousy tool and hardware section. Make that "pathetic.")
