... you can make associations

As a purple, I welcome greens into every facet of the American dream

and take a point of view.

But i want a meritocracy, not pro-anything-but-purple affirmative action.

Rh, if you and your wife ever need any time away from the "kid", please consider sending him to Camp Penny. No cameras here, just green grass and the usual critters. He'll come home feeling like a new pup! Course you might have to redo your training, which is why I will wave any camp fees.

Ann Althouse म्हणाले...

rh is married? This will break a lot of hearts in the Althouse community.

Peter Hoh म्हणाले...

What a lovely clematis combination.

The darker purple looks a lot like General Sikorski.

Seeking advice on Wisconsin river 1/2 day kayak or canoe trips. I haven't done this in 25 years and have lost touch with the outfitters providing this.
Thanks in advance!

rhhardin म्हणाले...

rh is single.

Ms Althouse,
You have shared many a lovely photo with us but the first purple and green confection has got to be my favorite. Just beautiful!

Purple is really good in the summer. I seem to be trending red and yellow, two colors that I love separately and hate together. Sigh.

Voices Green and Purple...

(they'll get you somehow)

Penny म्हणाले...

Sorry, my mistake, rh. I didn't have you pegged as a single dad.

Penny म्हणाले...

The great thing about the juxtaposition of these pictures are those purple veins running through the flowers and also the leaves in the second picture.

You have a wonderful eye, Althouse.

Ann Althouse म्हणाले...

@chuck I too hate red with yellow. Have always hated red with yellow. Blue is the great mediator color. Red and yellow need blue. They cannot be allowed to go off without blue. Add any amount of blue to red or any amount of blue to yellow and you end up with a better color, and certainly colors that can get along with each other. That's what's so good about purple and green as a couple. They represent red and yellow after both have been amply moderated by the great mellower, blue.

Really beautiful evolution must be going on in Wisconsin these days. My compliments to the local artist who figured out that we would love beauty.

Actually, if you mix red and yellow you get not orange, which most people would say, but yellow ochre or mustard, a color found everywhere in nature and without which the world would lack the warmth we take for granted.

I watched the movie Zoo last night and it totally fucked me up.

There are people in this world that want to get fucked by horses.

35 inch horse hog up your ass.

It is just so wrong and disturbing.

There were "horse meetings" with the horsefuckers and they passed around horse pictures.

How fucked up is that?

Cedarford म्हणाले...

Another winner. The two photos paired are showing such a fine eye in the composer (AA).

Funny, isn't it? Purple and green are the colors of decomposition and when someone says it it is ordinarily Not-A-Good-Thing.
"I was walking and came across this purple and green thing lying by the side of the road..." or "I was in your fridge and behind the case of beer you two don't drink..there was this green and purple..umm...well, sorry, just thought you should know.."

Beth म्हणाले...

There are little gold bits in these photos, so this is purple, green and gold - Mardi Gras!

TitusHappyHolidaysFellowRepublicans म्हणाले...

They ran around naked in the horse stalls and "teased" the horses.

The internet connected these freaks.

The internet is the true downfall.

TitusHappyHolidaysFellowRepublicans म्हणाले...

They traveled and actually relocated in order to get fucked by the horses.

They were sent money to actually come to the horses from their fellow horsefuckers.

Their wifes and family were supportive, how fucked up is that?

TitusHappyHolidaysFellowRepublicans म्हणाले...

a little mini pony came up to Strut, the horse that killed the horsefucker, and gave Strut a blowjob.

I am not kidding.

Big Mike म्हणाले...

@rh, if I let my grass get that long and my yard had that much clover the homeowners ass'n would be all over me.

I am so envious, man.

rhhardin म्हणाले...

You want the grass long enough to have heft that makes it fun to scythe.

Otherwise you get an impedance match problem.

Penny म्हणाले...

"The internet connected these freaks."

I hear freak, and I think of David Crosby letting his freak flag fly in "Almost Cut My Hair".

Interesting what caused angst (and pride) forty years ago. I suspect too many of us don't want to even imagine forty years hence. Titus, that was pretty damn freaky. And yeah, I know, if you can imagine it, you can probably find it on the internet.

From purple veins to purple rain.

XWL म्हणाले...

I'm not a copycat, I'm more of an homage-ist.

(I was going to do a different daily photo today, but I felt inspired by the Green-and-Purple Café to change things up)

Penny म्हणाले...

Seems to be high noon there, rh?

अनामित म्हणाले...

If you don't like red and yellow together, you must really hate Ronald McDonald.

Peter Hoh म्हणाले...

My favorite garden writer has a rant against red in his current column.

I too hate red with yellow. Have always hated red with yellow.

For some reason, this has reminded me of the Beezus and Ramona books. Didn't the teacher always where Red and Yellow to catch a fellow?

My own garden has color phases. In the spring, the iris & lupine make it definitely purple. In the summer, the bee balm and coneflower turn it red. Later in the summer it gets yellower and yellower with sunflowers and yellow coneflowers.

MadisonMan म्हणाले...

(sigh)

Wear. Wear. Wear.

MadisonMan म्हणाले...

peter, you remind me of my brother, specifically the General Sikorski comment, because my brother was walking through our porch when we was here last month, saw the Geranium there and said You have a Valley Forge Geranium. I guess it was the color of it.
