Just got an iPhone.

It seems pretty cool.

Call Bill and phone in your apology.

But, you're probably lying about the I-Phone, too.

Jennifer म्हणाले...

Just got jealous.

Chip Ahoy म्हणाले...

They're the cutest little things.

Ruth Anne Adams म्हणाले...

Will you show it on the "Daily" vlog?

I wonder if you will apologize about calling Althouse a liar if she proves that she has one.

Can you watch YouTube
on your iPhone,
playing "Our House"
on iTunes
while I listen to you
play your love songs
all night long for me
only for me?

Kevin म्हणाले...

You need to post a blog post from your iPhone

A friend of my son's showed his new iPhone off a few weeks ago and my son was impressed. But he was less impressed with the price tag and the monthly charge from AT&T. These costs will have to come substantially down before I'll be in the iPhone market, though I'm an enthusiastic Macophile.

Yes, yes -- an iPhlog!

Agnostic Monk म्हणाले...

Keep us updated on its uses and how it's working out for you. I am so curious about the IPhone, a fellow student got it so I got to hold and see the displays on the screen.

Ann Althouse म्हणाले...

An iPhlog would be boring. Me holding it up... looking at it... mentioning some features... Anyway, that would be me doing an ad! Doesn't make sense.

Galvanized म्हणाले...

OK, then, just put it on a chain and wear it as a necklace. It may as well be jewelry as much as people (myself included) want one. LOL

Maxine Weiss म्हणाले...

An I-Phone?

Well, whatever you do....don't tell Elton John:

Meade म्हणाले...

Maxine,
You're really Elton John posing here as Maxine Weiss aren't you?... Elton John

SaysMeow म्हणाले...

iPhone, yeah, big deal.

Ms. Althouse, I will not be diverted by your new gewgaws. Springes to catch woodcocks, I say.

What I and many others await is your long-overdue review of your weird shoes.

Maxine Weiss म्हणाले...

Meade, don't you dare get impertinent with me! Such impudence and disrespect---I simply can't abide it !!!

(Does Elton John talk like that?)

(Actually people have said that I do give off a bit of an English vibe.)

Maxine Weiss म्हणाले...

You know what's funny? Elton John couldn't come here even if he wanted to.

Althouse would make him send an email to prove he really was Elton John.

Attention: If you're famous and would like to post comments, Althouse puts up numerous barriers!

Meade म्हणाले...

She should.

The Elton John lady doth protest too much, iThink.

How do you feel about the fact that the battery has to be replaced every year? It's soldered into the iPhone, so you can't do it yourself. You have to send it into Apple, along with $79, plus $6.95 for shipping. They offer an optional $29 'loaner iPhone' rental or you can just be without a phone for a while until they replace the battery and send it back to you.

Ann Althouse म्हणाले...

Says Meow...

You know, that would be an interesting blog.

. म्हणाले...

did you get the 4GB or 8GB model?

Ann Althouse म्हणाले...

4. 8 seems to be about carrying around more of your music.

Ruth Anne Adams म्हणाले...

Have you designed an iPocket for your iPhone?

Palladian म्हणाले...

Ok, you finally pushed me over the edge. I just went to the Apple store and bought one. The first cell phone I've owned since a brief stint with a used Motorola brain-frying brick in 1999.

Melissa Clouthier म्हणाले...

Is it worth it, Ann? Your enthusiasm was part of the reason I finally took the Mac dive. Now I own an iMac and a MacBook, but such a little thing and so much expense.....

This weekend is my anniversary and the anniversary of owning my iMac. I could convince myself I deserve a gift:)

Brent म्हणाले...

Doggone it.

If palladian is getting one, I'm at least going to the Apple store tomorrow and try out the darn thing.

The problem is, whenever I get near an electronics store, I fold.

Sigh

That's techimpotence. It's common. Just keep walking into the store until you feel relaxed enough to approach the gadgets.

don't try this at home

Ann Althouse म्हणाले...

Palladian: Cool!

Melissa, b: You have to make your own decision, depending on how much you'd use the various features, how much pleasure you get from things that are aesthetically pleasing, and whether you want to spend that much money. It costs $500, but maybe you'd spend $500 for an article of clothing or 1 or 2 nights in a hotel. I think it makes sense as a purchase compared to that -- but not as an alternative to paying the rent.

It's $60 a month for the service. I don't like paying that much, but I was already paying AT&T $40 a month for my ordinary cell phone. And I am way more likely to get $20 of value out of the extras than $40 of value out of having a phone.

I like to be able to check what's happening in the news and on the blog and to catch up with my email without needing to have carried along the laptop or being in a WiFi zone. That is, I don't have to decide between carrying a large, heavy bag or going without internet access every time I go out. (On the negative, sometimes that decision was a healthy choice to separate myself from access!)

I need a phone, and I like that you can listen to it as an iPod and hear the phone ring through the iPod headphones and push the microphone button to answer the phone -- which would help me not miss calls. I like that I'll be subscribed to the paid WiFi that's run by AT&T in places like Starbucks. (I note that SOOO many of the cafés in NYC are Starbucks and not the places with free WiFi that predominate in Madison.)

I'll use the maps function and the weather too. Calculator...

Having a camera in the phone isn't a big issue with me, but it's very easy to take a picture and email it to your friends. It's also easy to load pictures from your computer and show them off on a bright, clear screen -- so if you're showing off pictures of your kids or whatever, it would be extremely effective.

Prepare for Ann to iPhlog us all with her new iPone.

Uh, iPhone.

Jennifer म्हणाले...

Now you can sing this. :)

All this is making me want to go find a used beige 386 DOS box somewhere and a black rotary dial phone.

(And to think I used to be a condescending Macintosh guy...)
