Are you watching the new Roseanne Barr special on HBO?
UPDATE: Now, she's saying, "Bush blows! Bush f**king blows. I hate Bush. I hate Bush. I hate Bush," etc., with a big cheer from the audience. She says she's glad everyone agrees now, because they didn't use to.

Who's Roseanne Barr?
Just got back from a high school presentation of "the Diary of Anne Frank".
Then I read Roseanne . . .
It is a never-ending source of amazement to me how someone can yell "I hate Bush" and then accuse conservatives, Christians and others of being hate-filled. The yelling of "Bushhitler" across liberal blogs is incessant.
The play reminded me that it is not conservatives, and certainly not evangelicals that want to run as fast as possible over every form of life that can be devalued.
It isn't conservatives that are rushing to classify embryos and partially-delivered-from-the-mother-then killed babies as not "life" important enough to be protected.
It isn't a conservative professor at Princeton University that suggests that society should retain the option of terminating the life of already-born children up to the age of 2 years.
It isn't conservatives that advocate "dying with dignity" euthanasia, seeking to get life out of the way at the other end.
And it won't be conservatives in future generations who call for the "voluntary" ending of life of the elderly and the infirm. The slippery slope seems afar off now, but it is only a matter of a few decades before the value of life is lessened even more, and someone - not conservatives - who will ask the always stimulating question - "but who decides?"
It is the liberal mind that is hate-filled towards its enemies.
It is the liberal mind and it's attempt to mind control and redefine speech that was the fear motivating Orwell to write "1984", not conservatism.
Today's American liberals have far more in common with the goals of Hitler's vision than conservatives do.
Today's American liberals have far more in common with the dictatorship goals of Cuba's Castro and North Korea's Kim Jong Il than conservatives do.
It is Roseanne Barr, a sadly damaged woman of talent who spews forth hate at every opportunity that represents todays American liberal.
Not so, a liberal yells. Then if you are liberal, decry Roseanne's message right here in these comments, without any caveats.
Gotta go - need a shower after Roseanne.
Would that be the fat ass on the top of her shoulders or the fat ass that seems to most of the rest of the surface area of Rosanne. Gotta go a long way to make John Goodman look like P.G. Woodhouse...but Rosanne is just the fat ass to do it.
Brent, call her Roseanne Coulter. It'll make you feel better.
Madison Man,
I'll decry Ann Coulter every day on the hateful things she says. She doesn't daily represent me. And, I'll do it without the liberal wimp-out of "but generally she meant or on the main points she's right, or . . ."
Your turn . . .
I don't think either one are funny. I liked Roseanne's TV show with John Goodman, but now she's just shrill, predictable, and therefore unfunny. As Johnny Nucleo says, she has cheerlines, not punch lines.
I don't understand, really, people who find either (or both!) Roseanne or Anne Coulter funny. They just seem mean to me. But apparently you can make good money being mean.
But apparently you can make good money being mean.
You can say that again!
(Remember when some people used to think Don Rickles was mean? He was a pussycat in comparison.)
Roseanne put in a good turn in last week's episode of My Name Is Earl. She was still overweight, but generally she didn't look as fat as she has in the past. I thought she looked pretty good, actually.
Glad to know I'm not missing anything on HBO.
Roseanne Barr is the spokesperson for the Democratic party.
al, where have you been??
Roseanne was a hooker and drug addict, before stumbling on the lowbrow comedienne gig. Why is anyone surprised at anything she says?
M. Man:
I would give Coulter credit that when she attempts an offensive joke, she produces something more creative than "Bush blows! Bush f**king blows. I hate Bush. I hate Bush. I hate Bush".
Whereas when a left-leaning comedian does exactly that, they're praised as "brave" and greeted with huge applause.
(Of course, the standard of comedy is measured by the number of laughs you recieve, not the number of claps, which is why I maintain that the Daily Show is anti-funny).
Gee, it sort of seems to me that Barr knows her target audience and plays to it just as Coulter knows hers, and Jon Stewart & Dennis Miller know theirs.
I'm surprised that I seem to be in the minority here. I have a hard time getting exercised over what any of them say or do for money. Sort of like going to a Striesand concert and then being angry when she makes a political statement. Well, don't go then, because she probably will.
I'm incredibly unlikely to watch Roseanne Barr (or whatever her name is currently) because I haven't found her funny since the beginning of her tv show. I thought she was funny when she was doing her original domestic/wife shtick.
I do find it incredibly funny that the Left can complain about suppression of free speech when Roseanne can do this and the worst repercussions she suffers is having people complain about her on Althouse blog. What doggone kind of ineffectual, wussy fascism is Bush running, anyway?
I live in the little town where Roseanne now makes her home. She actually lives a normal lifestyle as a mom who works. My daughter has had her son in her grade school class and says he's very nice and friendly. She visits the school on parents night, shuttles her son around to little league, and acts like anyone else in town. She sponsored his class to a year-end party at her studio complex one year. She is great with kids.
I think ronin is correct. She plays her schtick for the audience, then clocks out and goes home to the family like most of us do.
What's a Rosanne Barr?
Is it anything like a K-Bar, but only duller?

That's becasue the left really seems to believe that their are an opressed group of brave truth tellers standing up against rampant censorship by the "bushitler" machine. A lot of these people aren't just doing cynical manipulation, they really believe their own press releases.
Think about the images and impressions of the anti-war movement of the 60's. Kids being shot at Kent State. Mean-spirited, sweaty, gravel-voiced Nixon. Horrific images from Vietnam. Flowers tucked into gun barrels. Protesters like Jane Fonda singing along with John and Yoko.
Flash forward. The left has Roseanne Barr, who screamed her way through our national anthem and now hates Bush (and don't think the public won't associate the two). We have pin-up girl Cindy Sheehan. We have the vile rhetoric spewing from leftist blogs and other spokespeople. We have a President who, whatever else he is, does not come across at all like Nixon.
No wonder Rove thinks the Republicans can pull it out.

ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz...
BTW, I'm getting a real big kick out of all you moronic brownshirt fucks crapping your pants.
Wednesday morning, you'll be back dropping fries at Jack-in-the-Box. The bullshit wingnut gravy train is officially fucking over.
I vote for more Roseannes.
Gee, dave, is that the best you can do? Talk about re-runs! Is this an "Althouse Special" or do you post like this everywhere, or only when you drink?
Seriously, you have a great catblog dave. And cute cats. The two black ones remind me of two cuties I see peering out from an apartment window on Madison or Jackson every month while visiting an old friend in Oakland.
The yelling of "Bushhitler" across liberal blogs is incessant.
Actually, as far as I can tell, the word is exclusively used on conservative blogs as a strawman. Google it and see.
Jim,
Google is your wrong search engine of choice for blogs.
Technorati is the search engine for blogs. Google's "Blog" search is often late, sometimes days behind in it's crawls. Technorati - focusing on blogs only, is faster and more accurate.
Try Technorati, Jim, and you'll find that plenty of left-wing sites are still using Bushhitler and plenty of other hateful invective. In fact, as Ann herself has pointed out before about the more heavily read left blogs, cursing and hate are very common place in the comments.
You'll find a tremendous amount of hate and invective in the top 5 liberal blogs: Kos, Huffington Post, et al.
Difficult to find that in the top 10 conservative blogs, my friend.
Wake up. Liberals are the haters.
Isn't Dave above an example of liberal haters?
Read more dave @ comments #31-#33. "F**king Moron Brownshirts" seems to be the theme, tho Austin Bay's commenters didn't get accused of being workers in the fast-food industry. Maybe the mention of avoirdupois re Roseanne set him off over here?
From what I can see of the entertainment scene it appears that there is a lot of money in political rallies disguised as entertainment.
Who knew?

She sound peerfect for the libertarian wing of the Republican Party. Perhaps if some one could teach her economics and geopolitics she could be turned.
Better than defeating your enemies is turning them into allies.
at the moment, I'm watching Saddam being found guilty (and sentenced to death) by Ben Kingsley, playing the judge. So maybe the line between politics and entertainment is getting blurry, m simon? Understand song-and-dance man "Senator John" Kerry is doing stand-up these days.
Actually, as far as I can tell, the word is exclusively used on conservative blogs as a strawman. Google it and see.
Well, a casual Googling of DailyKos finds left-wingers using it here, here, here, and here.
It isn't as commonly used as some people would claim, but it most certainly is not a right-wing strawman.
Funny thing: Whenever I read a spittle-flecked comment by "dave" or others of his his ilk, it never comes off like someone who is confident of victory on election day. There's more than a whiff of hysteria, as well as someone who has spent far more than two minutes at the Two-Minutes Hate session.
Psychotic hate is never pretty, dave. I recommend that you get yourself some therapy.
Thanks, Ann. I was flipping through the channels on Thursday, taking advantage of a commercial break and a voice on "My Name is Earl" caught my ear, so I stopped to watch him apologise to a little nun who I knew I knew but just couldn't think of her name. She was much much older, in fact she appeared extremely old, but seemed slimmer than ever before, but I thought, maybe the habit is creating a false impression, it did look like every bit of it was used. But the voice was un mistakeable, I knew this actress.
So, as I say, thanks Ann, now I remember who was playing that nun.
Maybe Rosanne can tour with the Dixie Chicks.
Who cares who Roseanne Barr is?
Actually, I was not watching Roseanne Barr on HBO. I don't have HBO. I was playing Madden 2007 with my 14-year-old son. I'll bet I was having a much, much better time being with a funny, flesh and blood human than you were with an electronic image of an unfunny one.
"BTW, I'm getting a real big kick out of all you moronic brownshirt fucks crapping your pants.
Wednesday morning, you'll be back dropping fries at Jack-in-the-Box. The bullshit wingnut gravy train is officially fucking over."
Uh, right, dave. You might want to check your health insurance to see if mental health services are covered. Trust me on this - sooner would be better than later.
Regardless, to ease your mind some, none of us "moronic brownshirt fucks crapping our pants" is going to take your job dropping fries away from you - we're overqualified. So stop worrying, go upstairs and tell Mommy your job is safe.
"I'll bet I was having a much, much better time being with a funny, flesh and blood human than you were with an electronic image of an unfunny one."
Did I present my post as bragging about having more fun than other people? But in fact I was having a great time because:
1. I was done with airports for the day.
2. I had a dinner.
3. Whether I had any flesh and blood human amusing me is beyond the scope of this blog.
In any event, I turned off the show after about 15 minutes.
You people are just mean. Some of these comments caused Dave to spill his Kool-Aid on Mommy's computer! Now he'll get spanked again, which will drive him to hate Bush even more.
Wow. So, has anyone seen Roseanne and Margaret Cho in the same place at the same time?
Eh, a "Bush sucks" line is a cheap applause line. It's the equivalent of "give yourselves a round of applause!" I'm not surprised that it's now the staple of hack comedians everywhere. Unless you're playing in Branson, you can almost bet on a laugh from the stupidest, low-brow, most shopworn Bush joke. Hardly an earth-shattering event.
Doesn't Roseanne look these days like a Fimo polymer clay sculpture that was baked just a little too long?
Wow. So, has anyone seen Roseanne and Margaret Cho in the same place at the same time?
Yes, sadly, Cho was last seen near Rosanne not long after Rosanne ordered the Korean spareribs...and then accidently ate Cho, belched, and yelled "I hate Bush!" in a voice that sounded like a Tuvan throat singer...
