Touring the suite.

I give you a look at the scene of the interviews.

What camera were you using Ann? And what happened to the light balance?

Ronin: It's my little Sony still camera ... in movie mode.

Ah, thanks, now it makes sense. (Except that I have such high regard for almost anything made by Sony that I must admit I'm disappointed it didn't outperform expectations ;-)

The Marriott Wardman gets a fair number of trade show / convention events. I was out there 2 weeks ago for a military telecomunications convention. Good second tier spot on a second tier location. I would not call it a "famous Washington" hotel. Or at least not the most famous. I think the Hay-Adams is the classiest, though others are perhaps nicer and more expensive (e.g. Mandarin Oriental or the Ritz Carleton). The Hotel Washington has the best views for the price, but again it's not top tier.

When I was in college - they interviewed potential Professors but the interviewees didn't know that prior to the interviewing process -an already selected gender was going to get the job due to affirmative action - do they still do this?

Not to get too defensive regarding little Sony still cameras, but given the right conditions, they make an adequate and convenient vidcam.

An example of a game of nine ball I shot today.

As far as the hiring, good luck on finding a promising (and engaging) future colleague.

I hope you'll turn the lights on before the interviewees get there, unless you're really trying to intimidate them.

The lights were on. Actually, it looked much less dark to the eye, which is much better at seeing in the indoor light despite the bright outdoor light. I have an alternate clip with the curtains closed, but decided to go with this one. I'll do some more movie clips with this camera to be fair to it. I love this camera and do most of my pictures with it (though I have a big SLR camera too).

Drill: I'm not presenting this place as a top level hotel. It's reasonably acceptable, and the suite is designed to accommodate parties. I'm just musing about what might have gone on here, not admiring it, though I think it was pretty nice for a place to do interviews. I would try to find a nicer place for myself if I were making the travel plans.
