He went back to his original formula, and it wasn’t pretty! President DONALD J. TRUMP."

Trump needs to (1) apologize to Abbott, (2) stop being petulant, and (3) listen better to Susan Wiles. I’m still learning things at 80. He can too. Candidates like El Sayed,, Jackson, and Talarico should have let the Republicans run the table on the toss-up seats. Instead we lost all of them but Slaska and we may lose Mississippi besides. There’s a message in there and Trump had better listen.
If you want someone who fights, you need a fighter. Trump is a fighter. I am glad he is. Or are there so many other political candidates out there who would make similarly bold moves to back their policies while speaking only like Missy Mush-mouth?

Losing Texas may be the result that shocks me most. Trump couldn’t achieve regime change in Iran, but he managed it in Texas.
This isn’t the last we’ll see of Trumpism, but we’ve finally discovered the limits of what the electorate is willing to tolerate.
I will not miss Trump. He was a better option than Hillary and Kamala. He did a few good things. But he just destroyed his erstwhile party for years, similar to what Obama did to the Dems. Trump has broken Reagan's 11th commandment regularly since entering the political scene. It isn't the only reason for this disaster, but it's a contributing factor.
Trump has picked way too many fights with allies and potential allies in the political sphere. Bluster and ridicule only get you so far. Trump will be continually harassed for the next two years and the rest of us sensible people will be left to twist in the wind.
Assuming sensible people still exist. You're out there, aren't you? (I don't count the Bulwark clowns and their fellow travelers as 'sensible people' to be clear.)

I am the same as I have been for decades. I have freely admitted that Trump was my least favorite option among the Republicans in 2016. He surprised me in a good way by getting a few things done. I thought he was going to roll over for the Dems, since he is by no stretch a traditional conservative or Republican.
I don't like many politicians. In fact, I can't think of any living ones that I do like. It's always a matter of the lesser of two evils for me. Since I agree with the Republicans 50-60% of the time and I disagree with the Dems 99% of the time, choosing the lesser of two evils is usually not hard. Trump made it harder than it should have been. Water under the bridge now. The Republicans will either get it together and rebuild a sustainable base or they won't. The people will either learn what a big mistake they just made or they won't. I'll have to try to be nimble enough to survive whatever dreadful ideas get put into practice.
For a Burkean constitutionalist like me these are dark days. I'd like to believe the sun will rise again.

Trump urged voters to treat the midterms as a referendum on him, promoted unpopular candidates, and now seems unwilling to accept responsibility for the results. With little basis for claiming the elections were rigged, he’s facing perhaps the most difficult period of his political career.
The timing couldn’t be worse. At 80, he’s entering the final chapter of his political legacy. His greatest fear was being remembered as one of America’s worst presidents. Now he risks being remembered as the worst.
I’ve been a Trumper since day one but I’m tired of his schtick. He’s flailing now. The madcap tweets don’t land. He got hoodwinked by somebody — I’m not sure who — into the war with Iran and he utterly failed to sell it. He was truly necessary in 2016 and 2024 to smash down rotten doors but he no longer will have any luck with that and the time, as Ecclesiastes says, for tearing down is over. We must rebuild institutions now and sadly, we no longer have the authority to do it right.

He will surely set a record for times impeached that will stand for all time.
His best move right now is to congratulate the winners, scold his party establishment and start signing EOs as fast as his pen can move.
He needs to make it clear (without insults) that he is willing to work with everyone for the good of the country BUT if it becomes clear that the first priority of Dems is to punish people in the administration, real indictments (outside of DC courts) will be coming for many, many prominent Dems and their accomplices.
Hillary, Joe, Jill, Hunter, Nancy, Sanctuary State/City heads, jounalists, and the friends, families and attorneys and funders. Scorched Earth, Baby. Play nice...
