I don't know or care about the why. If this is true - it is bad form. Tho - if any democrat did it, all would be hidden and all would be well.
It's right up there with the democrat party insider trading that they refuse to end.

Yeah, smart move about 6 years too late, if you ask me. I think Guilfoyle is a grasping, conniving, overt-ambitious schemer who first tried to worm her way into the Trump family graces with Jr., and when the shine wore off, worked her way into a different payola scheme. She's Big Personality bad medicine, the kind that has gotten so much work done, she's gone from looking like a reasonably pretty woman to a grouper. Good riddance.

Sheldon Silver, New York Assembly speaker D Convicted in 2015 for schemes involving approximately $4 million in bribes and kickbacks. Initially sentenced to 12 years in 2016; later proceedings modified the convictions and sentence.

Kwame Kilpatrick, Detroit mayor D Convicted in 2013 of racketeering, extortion, bribery, and fraud involving city contracts. Sentenced to 28 years. Trump commuted this sentence, too!

Chaka Fattah, U.S. representative, Pennsylvania D Convicted in 2016 of racketeering and corruption offenses involving campaign funds, charitable money, and bribery. Sentenced to 10 years.

Jesse Jackson Jr., U.S. representative, Illinois D Pleaded guilty in 2013 to misusing approximately $750,000 in campaign funds for personal expenditures. Sentenced to 30 months.

William Jefferson, U.S. representative, Louisiana D Convicted in 2009 of bribery, racketeering, and related offenses. Sentenced to 13 years.

It's amazing how narrow the preferred reading of the Althouse commentariat is. I've recommended John Konrad's Twitter feed (@johnkonrad) here many times for coverage of military affairs, especially for the vested interests who keep sidelining anyone trying to get the DOW to prepare to win any possible war instead of just lining the pockets of bureaucrats and defense companies.

All this, yet somehow I seem to be the only person here who knows there's a pro-Guilfoyle side to this story. Here's Konrad's Tweet from yesterday (link):

"Why this administration keeps firing people who do amazing work right after clear and coordinated MSM hit jobs I’ll never know.

"For those who don’t know Greece sits smack dab between Russia and Iran…. and owns more ships than China. Her work for 🇺🇸 interests have been extraordinary.

"I can’t share details but one day a book will come out on Trump’s ⚓️ efforts and I’ll post it here with a big I Told You So."

Dr Weevil म्हणाले...

Here's Konrad two days ago (link):

"I don’t know the details of what happened but I do know that EVERY SINGLE PERSON who has been a heavy hitter on Trump’s maritime policy initiatives has been sniped or sidelined.

"I’m not going through the entire list again but you can search my previous posts.

"You can also find the posts where I met with Guilfoyle at DOT for major maritime and shipbuilding partnership with South Korea and Greece.

"Greece owns more ships than any other country and China owns several key ports in Greece. My sources say Guilfoyle has been doing fantastic work aligning those interests with the United States.

"I don’t know what’s going on but there are way too planted stories and dead bodies in the past two years not to think someone or some entity is trying to undermine Trump’s historic new maritime policies.

"And she’s not the only one. The maritime lead at the NSC was recently moved elsewhere and another KEY player tracking shadow tankers and sanctions (who I can’t mention) was pushed out after a fake-news leak.

"And it’s no secret that Trump’s maritime policies have deeply upset two entities greatly: the London shipping cabal surrounding the UN’s @IMOHQ
and China"

I do read Konrad's X from time to time and have corresponded with him before on non-political matters, dating back to the BP Horizon disaster, and I'm glad he's in the press corps now reporting on maritime matters. Guilfoyle has always presented as a determined high-rolling high-flyer, and that is a personality type that is prone to getting into trouble with procedure. I've been around those types before, and they often think rules are for littler people. It's a nightmare when they are associated with a project with lots of people working on it.

The first time I recall hearing of Ms. Guilfoyle was a story from a couple of decades ago when she was still married to Gavin Newsom. To ingratiate herself with an audience of homosexual men in San Francisco, she made a lame joke about keeping her husband happy that included pantomiming the act of fellatio, with her fist held next to the side of her mouth and her wriggling tongue poked into the side of her opposite cheek.

She reinvented herself as a conservative on Fox News, with what measure of sincerity I cannot say, and managed to get hooks into Don Jr. for what amounts to an extended fling, but I thought then and still think that it was a mistake for the Trumps to let this particular snake into the tent.

I'll lay down a marker now, and say that I expect that a combination of her spendthrift financial exigencies and the fury of a woman scorned will result in a tell-all book before the 2028 election that will be at least somewhat damaging to the Trump family and perhaps even the Republican nominee.

Her resignation was requested by the Administration, but we don't know precisely what for, yet - although it's rumored to be this Amex thing. If harris was in the white house, and Guilfoyle was a Democrat, we'd never hear about her so-called "damaging reports". Ethics are for Republicans.

The same liberal/left losers who scream about Trump's ethics and "Whatabout blah blah Trump" went on radio silence over Biden's graft and corruption and Epstein Island.

With Liberals/leftists its all just part of the propaganda war. They have no principles except Gain and keep power.

No, Donald Trump’s Bitcoin/crypto-related activities have not been ruled illegal by courts or prosecuted as criminal enterprises.

No shit, Captain Obvious, you fucking retard! 🤣🤣🤣 Do you understand who in charge of the DOJ? You think Trump is going to prosecute himself. Again, MAGA just doesn't understand how the world works. Reality can be a real blind spot.

Yeah. Actually, he can order prosecution and he's done it when people arrange seashells. It's not a federal prosecution but he is their fucking boss. You are dumb.
