My son Chris, who's nearing the end of his project of reading biographies of all of the American Presidents, sends me very well-chosen snippets of things now and then.
And we think NIxon's people were willing to do less than ethical things for him. They were, of course, and they don't seem to be alone. But a lot fewer people in the media wanted to investigate Kennedy.
Which reminds me of how that paragon of journalistic virtue Ben Bradlee maintained a personal friendship with Kennedy, like Nina Totenberg with Justice Ginsburg and (we recently learned) Jake Tapper with Tony Fauci. Liberal journalists are just Sooo ethical.
I wonder what would have happened if he had asked aloud: "Will no one rid me of that troublesome movie star"........I don't think it's all that healthy to ask for or to offer that kind of loyalty, but some people live in the a different quantum field than the rest of us........JFK bio's don't involve heavy lifting. It's the Millard Fillmore's that are challenging. Millard Fillmore has the most boring name of any American President.

No kings.
A pill box hat hatbox.
as cassandralite succinctly put it.
On the other hand... Is this on a par with Trump's pussy brag?
It ended up costing him millions; see E. Jean Carroll.
Like Mimi, when JFK told her to "take care of" Dave Powers and Teddy.
Is this on a par with Trump's pussy brag?
It reminds me of another brag: "I could stand in the middle of Fifth Avenue and shoot somebody, and I wouldn't lose any voters, okay?"
Power corrupts. Absolute power corrupts absolutely.
Democrats hide their corruption deep in their souls, where it corrupts them deeply and profoundly.
Trump makes jokes about his corruption. Which infuriates people.
Another happily married politician!

"Dave Begley said...
A pill box hat hatbox."
Leopard skin?
"Trump makes jokes about his corruption."
What jokes and what corruption would that be, because neither example you provided is "corruption".

'...Liberal journalists are just Sooo ethical....'
...and of course they would never, ever, flex the newsprint to help out a pal.
Its easy to sneer at JFK now that we know his private life. Even at the time people knew all that "JFK family man" crap was super-fake.
But ultimately who cares? What did POTUS JFK do or not do? We can thank him for not getting us into WW 3 over Cuber.
Its interesting to think about how much better - or worse - the USA would've been if Nixon had won in 1960.
Astounding we've gone from 43 y/o JFK contending against 47 y/o Nixon in 1960 to 78 y/o biden fighting 76 y/o Trump in 1980.
Why did we end up in Geezerville?
What jokes and what corruption would that be, because neither example you provided is "corruption".
You think he's immune to corruption?
bragging he can shoot somebody
bragging he can grab 'em by the pussy
People are outraged by this, but it's normal rock-and-roll talk.
