I live about a mile from the intersection where the Maine fatality occurred. The only independent witness identified so far is a credible young man who witnessed the event. He described the deceased as “putting the car in drive” and accelerating toward the ice officer whereupon he heard 4 shots fired. Maybe we should wait for the investigation to be completed before jumping to conclusions.
I suspect most voters in Maine are on the side of the guy shooting the person who is trying to run him down with his car if it comes to their attention at all.

And that's so widely known that this is the first I've read about it. And much more believable than anything I have read previously in any venue. Every single one of which has said it was totally ICE's mistake- HE WAS THE WRONG GUY. If someone is aiming their car at you and accelerating- they ARE the right person to shoot.

Even though they aren't the largest group of immigrants, Somalians and other East Africans have drawn the most attention because of their rapid growth and cultural differences, primarily around Portland. Canadians remain the largest immigrant group in Maine, with Europeans and Latin Americans following. Maine is an interesting case because of its small population. Concentrated immigration can have a significant political impact in a fairly short time.
