From "Even Before Attack, Berlin’s Gay Community Felt ‘More and More Unsafe’/The killing of a woman in what officials called an act of Islamist terrorism rattled a community that has seen a surge in threats, including from the far right" (NYT gift link).
"Some people at the memorial on Sunday said German leaders had contributed to a sense of insecurity. They singled out the far-right Alternative for Germany party, which has climbed in national polls with a platform that defines a family as a man and a woman with children. Others criticized Friedrich Merz, the chancellor, who defended a decision not to fly a Pride flag over the federal parliament building last year by saying Parliament was 'not a circus tent.'..."

Yeah, it was the far right that brought in all those anti-trans people, so don’t vote for them. Ick.
"...community leaders said they were increasingly worried about threats from a wider range of political and religious motivations....".
Yet none dared speak its name.
Sorry, “anti-queer”. All these new terms to avoid reality, hard to keep up.
In order to fix a problem, one must be able to name the problem.
What could be accomplished if people in general could get over queerness? So much bandwidth given over to these issues. There is so much obsession across the board. None of it makes life better for average citizens, in any country.
Political congruence ("="). Transgender spectrum. Liberal ideology. Progressive sects. Pro-Choice religion.
It takes an amazing amount of flexibility to equate not flying a gay flag with running people down in a market. I wonder which stripe on the rainbow represents autofellation?
A Pride flag? Albinophobic banner and rhetoric. Queer.
Anti-Trans. Anti-Christian. Anti-Jew. DEIsm exercised with liberal license.
Anti-baby is a human rite performed for social, clinical, criminal, political, and climate progress is an inconvent truth.
Of course, they ignore the most likely cause - their rapidly growing Muslim population.
What’s going to be interesting is that there is a fundamental problem with the alliance between Islam and progressive thought. We see it with their rape culture. Their reaction to our liberated, often immodestly dressed. female culture. And with it their response to male homosexuality. It’s considered completely legitimate to just plain kill gays. Some even go the next step, and believe that is is ordered. In parts of the Muslim world, male homosexuals are stoned and in others, thrown off tall buildings.
The reality is that those from Christian and Jewish cultures are just not going to kill gays for being homosexuals, very often, no matter how much they may believe that homosexuality is evil. Killing gays for being homosexuals, or killing females for dressing immodestly, or even for just having been raped, is almost exclusively a Moslem thing.
My question then is when are lefts around the world going to realize that allying with (est militant) Muslims is counter and incompatible with their core beliefs?
Many Islamic factions = overtly far right = many nominally far-left factions such as Antifa and the gender color brigade.
Left-wing self-awareness with newer movements = nil.
There are 31 flavors of "far right," none of which include Trump, MAGA, or the Republican Party's positions. They are center-right to center to RINO.
There are a few far-right isolationists in Idaho and former KKK strongholds who vote Republican, yes.
I used anti-trans, because being that in America makes Sophie Cunningham far-right, even though all she wants is to play against biological women in a league created specifically for biological women, regardless of their sexual orientation.
AfD is the party for normal people who want — or maybe even need —to live in a real world. Hence it is “far right.” Like all normal people.
Maybe it is White people's fault! To what extent does the German court system play a role in supporting or disavowing such acts? This man was in front of a judge last month and was given a slap on the wrist. In England, the judicial system's dehumanization toward working class White girls super charged the grooming crisis.
My point is, and maybe it's not a good one, is that you can blame White people for creating a broken judicial system that encourages terroristic acts by Muslims.
I am wondering whether these Muslim refugees would be fewer in number, and those who arrived would be more open to our culture if, you know, we stopped bombing their countries because we wanted their oil, or because the people who own our sovereignty, the Israelis, want us to…
Naaah!
Sorry, not “want us to,” but told us to. I hear that Bibi is going to get Trump’s mind right again at Lindsay’s funeral. Trump will cave to him, as always.
Jaq, I don't think Muslim migration is driven primarily by armed conflict. I think Muslim migration is more like Latino migration -- it is more about economic insecurity and political instability in their native countries. That is the push. The pull is from Western countries that offer massive welfare and affirmative action, job opportunities and socio-economic stability. These factors are more important than armed conflict.
FFS. A "pride" flag over the the parliament building isn't going to change a damn thing. What is true is that a substantial amount of the population does not approve of any of this stuff nor are willing to tolerate state policies that support it. This too is "what democracy looks like" to paraphrase the left.
Berlin is in the old East Germany. If you look at an electoral map, Germany never fully integrated.
I'll be punishing myself later today for Bad Think. Allowing millions of Muslim males into country should never have entered my head. My error is so egregious that I found myself even thinking that the 1950s gastarbeiter system, principally from Turkey, could be the root cause.

Yeah, if the Germans, Dutch, Danes, and Swedes would just stop bombing Muslim countries and stealing their oil, all this trouble would disappear.
I read the article. If you get far enough in, it mentions migrants and Islamists. Apparently such people are empowered, if you don't fly the Pride flag over Parliament.......I'm sure that there are a lot of straight, white Germans who disapprove of Gay Pride Parades and also disapprove of smoking and excessive drinking. It's a thing, but not a big thing.........I'm s vestigial heterosexual. I don't really disapprove of homosexuality, but some of the outfits gays wear to those parades are not so much prideful as silly. The stupidest outfit that the gays were is is that Palestinian shawl. That's really stupid. Worse than fat guys wearing tutus and bare assed chaps.
'.....when are lefts around the world going to realize that allying with (est militant) Muslims is counter and incompatible with their core beliefs? ....'
When are leftists going to articulate and acknowledge their core beliefs, in a forum that forces a legitimate debate, where they can be defended? Let's not get the cart before the horse.
Ah, the "Religion of Peace" at it again.
"a platform that defines a family as a man and a woman with children" Does it, actually? AfD leader herself not living that way.
Interesting how we never hear about the "White community" in Germany being threatened by migrants and POC's. No, to say that is "Far-right" and verboten. Only minority "Communities" can be threatened.
The German Government is trying to destroy AFD. Any threat to the establishment is verboten. Unlike the US, where biden DOJ tried and failed to destroy Trump, the German Government has plenty of laws on the books that allow them to jail AFD supporters and ban them from elections.
What is the 'far-right ideology'? I'm sure there's a definition of it, but it is always seems to be interpreted as, or attributed to, 'those who are not on the left'.
It's the Muslims stupid... you let them in... reap what you sow.
And of course, we get the same tired double-standard. When its a minority group attacked then we immediately hear of the attackers politics. When its a majority group attacked its written off as " a lone nut" and press is completely incurious about the politics involved.
A 28 y/o killed the UK Reform leaders media spokesperson. Probably another attack by "the violent far-left" but you'd never know it from reading the UK MSM.
So much Leftwing propaganda put out by Western Governments and the MSM. Insane.
"...not a circus tent."
The freaks are offended. Fuck them.
Name three things that the Media routinely label “far left.”
Like CBS News the AFP is run by a classical Liberal lesbian. That FarRight stuff is always in the LAST place I’d look.
"Unlike the US, where biden DOJ tried and failed to destroy Trump, the German Government has plenty of laws on the books that allow them to jail AFD supporters and ban them from elections."
If that happens, we must withdraw from Germany completely -- no military support, 200% tariffs, the works. Trump has probably made those conditions very clear to Herr Merz, which is probably why they haven't banned the right-wing parties already.
Trans individuals, with narrow exceptions, have always been tolerated, but rarely celebrated for their gender divergence. The Spectrum has no redeeming value to either society or humanity.
Alice Weidel is openly Lesbian and has been married to her female partner since 2011. Her Wikipedia page reveals an interesting background in finance. Certainly nothing to sneeze at.
Alic Weidel is co-chair of the (supposedly) anti-queer AfD party.
Nobody ever mentions that. Not in Ann's post, not in the comments, not in the article.
John Henry
The lefties have the propaganda thing down. Germany is full of homophobic Muslims, but “far right ideology” is the stimulant for anti-gay behavior. “Far right” is anybody to the right of Antonio Gramsci. It has little to do with being “anti-queer.”
The German Parliament may not be a “circus tent,” but their country appears to be one.
“The Universe is not only queerer than we suppose, but queerer than we can suppose.”
― J.B.S. Haldane, Possible Worlds
john henry, thanks for bringing that up. I thought it was the case but couldn't remember the details.
Kinda like Scott Besset and Ric Grenell. The anti-queer parties don't seem to have a problem promoting qualified people regardless of sexual orientation.

The article failed to mention that the German government extradited the perpetrator back into the country, tried him for terrorism, then released him for time served.
The German government is a left coalition, hardly right wing.
"Much of that effort has focused on countering growing hostility from Germany’s far right; in Berlin, far-right ideology was the most frequently cited specific motivation for homophobic attacks in the city in 2025."
How many actual, physical attacks were perpetuated by "far-right" elements? Compare and contrast with actual physical attacks by the parties they dare not name?
"Cited" by whom? I suspect that when there is no political motivation, the authorities just chalk up the attacks to "far-right ideology." Similar statistics in the US are rigged in that way.
Everyone acts like the Muslim invasion is a recent problem. It is not. It has been a problem in Germany since the 50s when they started importing massive amounts of Turks to replace some of the millions of workers who died in WWII. My brother in law, who lived in Munich, was complaining about the Turks in Munich in the 80s.
Oriana Fallaci was writing books about "Eurabia" and the problem of Islamification of Europe in the 90s Her books "Force of Reason" and "The Rage and the Pride" both go into this and got her indicted. Sneaky woman that she was, she dodged the trial by dying.
England the same thing. They imported millions of Pakistanis, Indians, Kenyans, Ugandans, Jamaicans and other colonials and it was a problem for Britons as early as the 60s. Though not for Queen Liz and her governments.
Now we have the spectacle of King Chuck, head of the Church of England, apparently inches away from announcing that he is a Muslim. Anyone want to bet the next Archbishop of Canterbury, appointed by Chuck, is a Muslim?
I suspect not but would not bet anything more valuable than a donut against it.

"in Berlin, far-right ideology was the most frequently cited specific motivation for homophobic attacks in the city in 2025.l
Is there any real data supporting this?
I think "Eurabia" was by Bat Yeor, and Douglas Murray has been writing about the invasion for at least twenty years.
One could argue that the Brits and Frogs, and to a lesser extent the Dutch, had some obligation to the colonials who had fought for them in the German Wars, but the results now are a great example of "No good deed goes unpunished."
But attacker was a known Islamist radical, not a strapping AFD-leaning German man in baggy trousers
"England the same thing. They imported millions of Pakistanis, Indians, Kenyans, Ugandans, Jamaicans and other colonials and it was a problem for Britons as early as the 60s. Though not for Queen Liz and her governments."
They should have thought about 350 years ago before they decided to colonize 23% of the population of the earth and 24% of the land.
"They should have thought about 350 years ago before they decided to colonize 23% of the population of the earth and 24% of the land."
I think there is an argument to be made whether colonization was good or bad.
"I think there is an argument to be made whether colonization was good or bad."
It was an unmitigated disaster for those colonized. Especially in the Americas and Australia, where native populations decreased well over 90%, even if you lowball the estimates for native populations before colonization.
“I think there is an argument to be made whether colonization was good or bad.”
Funny how after a desperate fight to throw off British rule, so many of the colonized are now desperately trying to swim the Mediterranean to get back under it.
Right, it’s the “far-right”, not the Islamic invasion that throws gays off a roof with the agreement of their government. Or the eradication of all non Islamic people in the Middle East.
A transurrectionist, a pedophile, a school shooter, a terrorist, and a gender studies professor walk into a bar.
The bartender says, "Drinking alone again?"
“ Funny how after a desperate fight to throw off British rule, so many of the colonized are now desperately trying to swim the Mediterranean to get back under it.”
They are NOT immigrating to live under British rule. They are immigrating as conquerors
Sure--Defining a family as "a man and a woman with children" and objecting to flying a pride flag over the legislature are obviously right there in the same "terror" boat as advocating death by stoning, throwing gays off of buildings, and running vans into crowds. Lets not split hairs about these things. That would be racist.
He's right. And as, in Europe, as in the U.S., non-black "hate crime" offenders are officially counted as white, how many of those previous crimes were actually committed by Islamists?
Hate crime laws are political propaganda, not real law enforcement. How many real women were attacked for being female? Many thousands more than gay or trans people. But even if anti-sex crimes are counted as hate, or gender hate crimes include real heterosexual women, police are extralegally forbidden to investigate or report such crimes as hate crimes. A few slip through. But we're talking three or four a year, no matter how many millions of women are victimized.
Hate crime laws are just another way to erase the existence of heterosexual female crime victims. Here, in Canada, and throughout Europe and Britain. At the behest of certain ethnic groups, gays, and transvestites. You erase me; you erase my sympathy for you, which did once exist.
These people have nobody to blame but themselves.
The leader of the AfD is a woman by the name of Alice Weidel whose longtime partner is a Sri Lankan woman.
And this is precisely why I didn't give a shit when news of this attack broke. Because I knew - someway or another - the 'far right' (aka, normal people) would get blamed for it.
You made this mess. Damned if I'm going to help clean it up. Or care if it gets worse.
Fred Frederson said "It was an unmitigated disaster for those colonized. Especially in the Americas and Australia, where native populations decreased well over 90%, even if you lowball the estimates for native populations before colonization."
And most of that was prior to first contact (c.f the plagues that struck the Incan empire, allowing Pizarro to take it out with 180 men or the arrival of the Pilgrims to a land of abandoned villages and field). So not colonization, per se.
The 50s, when the Turks began arriving in Germany, were a very different time, both in Germany and in Turkey, and the Turks (and Germans) were too busy working to make much trouble. Atatürk had promoted secularism in Turkey and Islamism wasn't yet around. For a long time, Germans didn't think the Turks were going to stick around. That was foolish, of course.
The diseases spread by the Europeans may have been unconscious, often.
The rats got off the ships, the bugs got off the ships, dogs were let to roam and put viruses where local animals could get to them, and they intentionally spread pigs in numerous places for future food sources. See the damage done in Hawaii.
The animals led the way with disease deaths; some native locals hated other locals and helped the invaders too.
As with today, humans are tribes all the way down. Gray gray gray morality and ethics.
Pious Agnostic: "I wonder which stripe on the rainbow represents autofellation?"
There is no such stripe. The guy assigned to propose a color for it missed the meeting because he never left the house. CC, JSM
Import the Third World, become the Third World.
Look, "Muslims" aren't in charge of Germany or the UK. So, why are they there?
Isn't it interesting that the Left and "The Establishment" is in favor of 2nd and 3rd world migration into Europe, no matter if its Christian, Muslim or whatever.
Its weird how every attack on mass immigration into Europe turns into a weird attack on Muslims. The left thinks in terms of race. The establishment thinks of money and power. Only the boobs think its "religion".
“I am wondering whether these Muslim refugees would be fewer in number, and those who arrived would be more open to our culture if, you know, we stopped bombing their countries because we wanted their oil, or because the people who own our sovereignty, the Israelis, want us to…”
Does this pass the sell test? Nope.
Ok, first, what sect of Islam are te Iranians? Iran and eastern Iraq, are the center of Shi’a. Islam. Maybe 25% of Muslims worldwide, but 80% in Iran. And the country has been under Shiite clerical rule for the last 49 years, since the US supported Shah was overthrown.
And who are our Allies in our fight with Iran? Pretty much every Sunni majority country in the region (plus tokenly Shi’a majority Iraq next door). And of Iran’s remaining missiles, most are being shot right now at their Muslim neighbors. More than are being shot at US facilities and personnel. These countries are also coordinating with the US (and Israel) in strikes against Iran.
So, no, there is not very much sympathy for Iran, in the Muslim world, in the Middle East, in this fight against Iran.
Now let’s talk about Muslim immigrants in first world countries. Again, almost all of it is Sunni. Part of that is that no one has trusted Iran and Iranians for almost 50 years now. No TPS status for Iranians here. Or te equivalent in Europe. They have been for most of that half century, the #1 supporter for Muslim terrorism in the world. No one wants them in their country running wild. Plus they don’t have anti colonial ties to European countries, like Pakistanis with the UK, Algerians with France, etc. do.
Freder,
I think that calling our ancestors Colonialists is very misleading. They found an almost empty continent, and over the next four hundred years, managed to fill it up - with having a lot of kids and importing others as immigrants.
