About twenty years ago we had bought the smaller of our music venues and the previous owner had a few acts on the calendar that we decided to honor. One of them was DAC.
The previous owner was notorious for playing fast and loose with band payments as it interfered with his cocaine cash flow, which apparently, was priority one.
We had sold almost a hundred tickets in advance and had a good feeling for the night. About six o’clock a ragged out Bluebird belches into our parking lot and an equally ragged out fella comes inside; his tour manager.
No introductions, no hellos, no nothing, and he asks ‘Where’s our cash.’ I told him we had two of the three grand in cash and would give them the rest after the show or I’d go to my ATM and be right back with the other thousand.
He said ‘We outta here!’ And they left!
It sucked because we missed out on a good night, but the value of that story - a perfect David Allan Coe story - is worth far more. Take this gig and shove it, I guess! lol

The lefty 'solution' to Callais is obvious: start a Black People's Party. Open to everyone, of course, but explicitly dedicated in its manifesto to advancing the interests of black Americans. It can be a coalition ally of the Dems. The Dem CBC members can run as BPP and just happen to vote with the Dems every time, like Bernie is an Independent.

The suit was frivolous, a loser, a public relations stunt. But then he won the election, and CBS settled for $16 million.
