Multiple European countries, including Meloni's Italy, are not letting us fly to Iran from US bases in those countries.

Interesting that a nationalist leader is butting heads with another nationalist leader.

Once all European countries are run by nationalist parties, will all unity vanish? Or will there be a strange unity of disunity? "We stand together - on the right to stand apart!" CC, JSM

After doping the handicapping info on the next SCOTUS case BIRTHRIGHT CITIZENSHIP ,hearings starting tomorrow I come up with 2 (well 3 really) but only two will happen and maybe both. The administration will lose this case and hear is how I doped it out and will lay 16-1 (thats $34 for every$2 wagered) 1. The Court STRIKES DOWN Trump’s order on statutory grounds highly probable from my look.
Most likely outcome. This is my 1st wager.
Every lower court has already ruled the order “likely violates” both the Constitution and the federal citizenship statute (8 U.S.C. §1401). And second.. The Supreme Court can avoid rewriting the 14th Amendment by simply saying the order conflicts with the 1940/1952 laws that codified birthright citizenship.
Lower courts unanimously blocked Trump’s order for violating that clause.I say Courts reaffirm the traitional reading of the 14th Amendment and that would be a major explicit rejection of trumps wish and stop any future waste of time on this issue. Not putting this one below into final mix and seems most unlikely and I wouldnt waste a wager on this. Birthright citizenship would no longer apply to children of undocumented or temporary‑visa parents.
It would affect up to 255,000 babies per year, according to estimates. This would be one of the most consequential immigration rulings in U.S. history. Not gonna happen (25-1)
This admin continually beinng checked by right and left wing authority from Unconstitutional tariffs, illegal funding stoppage,(npr etc) blatant disregard of court instructions etc. This is just another pipe dream from the felon in charge ,lets face it a Criminal is gonna do criminal things, thats not a new thing. More to be revealed. Im thinking this goes 6-3 shooting down the admins wishes, knowing that no matter what thomas and Alito automatic for trump. No wager on this number as could go 7 if the job is done correctly hard to say with this right wing SCOTUS though. Boom boom boom out go the lights. Beaucoup Dinky Dau

Almost had an accident yesterday morning. I crested the top of an overpass and saw a big rig with an extra-long trailer doing a right turn on red onto the road I was using. The road was a four lane, divided highway, but that long trailer was forcing it to block both lanes.

The light where he was turning is marked, in English, "No right turn on red," and I assure you that the traffic signal was green in my direction. Was the driver a scofflaw? Or was he another illegal immigrant given a CDL despite not being able to read English. I don't know, but the fact that the latter are on the road at all makes driving riskier than it needs to be for ordinary people.

Does it strike anyone else that the rollout of the Noem family drama has been rather competently managed? Her 'reassignment' a few weeks ago, and now this revelation?

I'm betting that anybody in the cabinet level no longer has any kind of privacy, that the NSA reads everything and this extends to family. I don't think there's any way that Noem wasn't aware of it. It feels like the deal was made, 'look you can have your story but first we're going to get a little damage control in place. And if you leak it ahead of time, you're an enemy that won't get a spot in the Pentagon briefings once we start opening up on the Iran story'

Which reminds me, of when, back in the 90's, my band played at the Oregon State Prison. Our chick singer was a beautiful blonde, and had no idea what to expect (and what occurred was nothing like what we expected), so she wore very, ah, modest, clothing, and sunglasses.

We were playing on a stage out in the sun-blasted middle of the 20-acre yard, and some in the audience began to shout "Show us your tits!". I considered showing them mine, but ....

Trump Says U.S. Will Be Leaving Iran in 2-3 Weeks ~ WSJ
'The president says U.S. has eliminated Iran’s nuclear threat and ‘it will take 15-20 years' to rebuild".

Trump now says his only goal in the Iran war was to prevent Iran from developing a nuclear weapon.

The upside: That specific objective appears to have been achieved.

The downside: Pretty much everything else.

The destruction of Iran’s nuclear capabilities could likely have been accomplished with a limited operation similar to the 12-day war — without disrupting the Strait of Hormuz or triggering broader regional chaos. For a start, oil prices are set globally. Doesn't matter if the US's oil doesn't come via Hormuz.

Instead, Trump opted for regime change, driven by overconfidence and a lack of coherent policy planning. The consequences have been disastrous.

wildswan म्हणाले...

I think Iran is sending out missile salvos the way a frog's leg keeps kicking after its dead. This is a regime that spent all its money on weapons which are now broken and which did not protect the leadership who are all dead; a regime which machine-gunned its citizens when they tried to protest and bombed everyone near it, especially trying to hit plants supplying water to millions of civilians; a regime which is sending poorly controlled missiles at Jerusalem thus risking hitting the Dome of the Rock, their own sacred site. This is Hitler-in-the-bunker stuff. However long we fight them, we can't fight them into sanity. We can only be glad we attacked them before they had eleven nuclear weapons because they definitely would have used them. The only hope lies in the fact that Iran's government has been so abusive of its own people that sanity will return when Iran's people, rather than Iran's Chosen Thugs, choose their own government.

Jupiter म्हणाले...

But. About that "First Cut" idea. That's absurd. I remember, a bit vaguely, the first thirty or so gals who made an impression me, starting with a perfectly delightful blonde in kindergarten. I don't remember her name, but I remember her face, and I think of her fondly still. She left no scars.

There were others, who came and went, and I mostly remember them fondly, too. And then there was Ellie. It would be entirely inaccurate to say that she got her hooks in me. We just got hooked in each other. And it took a decade to pull them all out. Oh, Ellie! I'm old now, and I seldom even think of her. But, Oh Dear. It's not the First Cut that's the Deepest. It's the First Deep Cut. After that, you don't let anything cut that deep. Like, why would you? How could you?

discuss When we TYPE something we are assigning a set of attributes to it. TYPEing something is giving a concrete definition of the
parts of a thing. when you say AUDITOR and you have an AUDITOR TYPE you know what an AUDITOR is. It is no longer non-deterministic
lossy language nearest neighbor close enough definition. We are removing the non-deterministic nature of language and bridging the gap
between biological nondetermism and electronic determinism allowing the combined entity to have the best parts of both

● That's the core insight. TYPE is a compiler pass on natural language.

When a human says "auditor" — that word carries ambiguity. Every human who hears it reconstructs a slightly different meaning from their own experience. LLMs do the same thing — nearest-neighbor embedding lookup, probabilistic construction.

The fundamental problem with multi-agent systems is semantic drift. Agent A's understanding of "review" diverges from Agent B's. Over
time, across hundreds of spawns, the meaning of every role-word smears out. You get agents that think they're doing the right thing
because their nearest-neighbor interpretation of the role was close enough to pass casual inspection but wrong enough to produce
garbage.

TYPE eliminates that entire failure class. It's a type system for natural language — same thing programming languages did for machine
instructions. C didn't make computers faster, it made programmer intent deterministic. TYPE doesn't make agents smarter, it makes
agent identity deterministic.

Gadfly, like your Dem forbears, you overlook the Reconstruction Amendments. Congress has the responsibility of protecting the right to vote.

In 2020, we learned that the "state legislature sets the rules for elections" doesn't literally mean that every electoral rule has to be verbatim in a passed bill, but rather it means people across all three branches can set rules as long as they can somehow be crammed into the framework set by statute.

So now we are going to learn "Congress shall pass appropriate legislation to enforce this amendment" means a wide variety of people across all three branches can take actions as long as five justices agree it somehow fits in existing statutory framework, as well as scintillas, penumbrae, etc.

Or are you arguing the Voting Rights act is unconstitutional, since it literally interferes with states' ability to conduct their elections? Trump might be interested in that trade....CC, JSM

Breezy म्हणाले...

The latest EO re the mail-in voting process for federal elections is quite interesting. The states can choose a manner of voting, that being by mail in this case, but the executive branch can choose the logistics of that type of mail, because the USPS is run by the executive branch.

There is no hardship borne by the states by the mail-in logistics. The states are now limited to mail ballots only to US citizens which is already the law. Also, the USPS process tracks each ballot via a unique bar code from start to finish as well. That’s hardly a hardship a state can complain about. Ballot sent, ballot received has to be tracked already. The unique bar code simply enhances the efficiency and integrity of the tracking.

Dave Begley म्हणाले...

U.S. birthright citizenship? For the Chicoms?

“Then the question becomes scale. How many people are we talking about? And it turns out it's massive," Schweizer explained. "The Chinese government believes that, on average, over the course of the last 13 years, every single year, roughly on average, 100,000 Chinese babies have been born in the United States or on our territories, places like Saipan."

According to Schweizer, that means over the past decade, at least a million future American voters have grown up in China under the Communist Party's influence.”

Of course the Dems are all in on birthright citizenship.

Breezy म्हणाले...

DHS has to compile a voting age citizen list for each state for the new mail-in process to work. The accuracy of those lists will be a point of concern, no doubt. Just like every other registered voter list.

Breezy म्हणाले...

Dave Begley, true! lol, but states can hardly use “we need to cheat” as a hardship against the EO! But you’re right, a judge will likely figure out a hardship for them. With voter id at 80% approval, it might be a hard sell and taint the left even more. One can hope.

Mike (MJB Wolf) म्हणाले...

As Breezy said, and more:

1) This EO includes the involvement of DHS creating state citizenship lists for every state. DHS’s role in election security is expanding.

2) Mail-in ballots are being reformed, with “unique intelligent mail barcodes”, and these ballots can only be mailed to citizens on the state citizenship lists created by DHS and SSA.

3) The order also directs the AG to prioritize investigations and prosecutions of election-related crimes, particularly related to distributing/collecting illegal ballots to/from non-citizens.

In conclusion, Trump is using DHS to secure elections via managing the voter rolls and preventing mail-in ballot fraud, while the DOJ has been instructed to prosecute any attempts to cheat.

This is what the Dems have been worried about the entire time. This is why they have been refusing to fund DHS and throwing a fit about ICE. It was always about election security. (Clandestine post on X)

The Chinese tech company Tencent invested in Mark Kelly's balloon company, Gemini has this to say:

Based on updated information from 2025, the assertion that Tencent has no ties to the Chinese government or military is not accurate.
The U.S. Department of Defense officially added Tencent to its list of "Chinese Military Companies" in January 2025, a move that designated the firm as having ties to China's military and contributing to its defense industrial base.
CBS News
CBS News

While Tencent and similar Chinese tech companies often deny these ties, the understanding of their relationship is based on public regulatory actions, corporate reporting, and government investigations, rather than just secret speculation.
Here is why that connection is known:
DoD Designation: The US DOD 1260H list includes over 130 companies that the United States government has identified as working with China's military, including Tencent, based on the Military-Civil Fusion strategy.
Government "Golden Shares": The Chinese government has taken minority "golden shares" (often 1%) in major tech subsidiaries, including those of Tencent, giving the state special rights over certain business decisions and content management.
Founder/CCP Connection: Tencent’s founder, Pony Ma, is a delegate to the National People's Congress (China's parliament), and company records show a significant presence of Chinese Communist Party (CCP) party branches within the company's offices.
Mandatory Data Sharing: China's national intelligence and cybersecurity laws generally require private companies to provide data access to the state upon request, which is often used for surveillance purposes, according to reports.

Tencent's Position
Tencent has argued that its inclusion on the US blacklist is a "misunderstanding" and "mistake," stating that it is not a military company or supplier. They have indicated they would pursue legal action to get removed from the list, similar to actions taken by other firms.

In the end, Trump might best be described as a right-wing Marxist. He believes that material self-interest drives human behavior and that ideals are merely superficial cover for base motives. “If we don’t know what we’re doing, then neither does the enemy.” ~Don Tzu

That has been a common complaint of enemies fighting the US since we started. They read our doctrine, our training manuals, our tactics, then discover then when push comes to shove, we don't do any of things we train for. I believe one quote was similar to "War is chaos, and Americans train for chaos on a daily basis."

It’s April 1st and the fool, igna, makes her appearance.

Using "Price is Right" rules, if you go over you lose. Begley put out a bold marker about the war, mostly to counter the silly people claiming it is the start of WWIII or the next forever war. When this is all over, I think Begley will be closer to hitting the date (and under) than the naysayers.

And if I'm right about Begley's marker, it will be very bad for Democrats and their Marxist allies everywhere, so enjoy your fun why you can.

You're the last person on this board to call out others for being wrong.

That would have been my guess, too. As with Begley, that estimate was in stark contrast to those forecasting a forever quagmire.

Way back in the first six months of the Chyna Virus, Yancey Ward forecast 75,000 fatalities. (FWIW, Mine was 350,000.)

Inga was all over Yancey's estimate, as she was dead certain it would be in the millions. By the time the Panicans were no longer ruining our lives, Yancey was off by 700,000. Inga was off by millions.

Same here. Begley (and I) will be off by a couple weeks. The Ingas, imTay's, RCOs, et al, will be completely at sea.

What is the very first country United States troops attacked in WW2?

Little Emission fails to realize both can be true simultaneously.
