I just started season three of "White Lotus." I bailed on season two. Everybody was a jerk, the satire was too pointed, and Italy wasn't exotic enough. I don't know if I'll finish this one. It's hard to shake the sense that the actors are as shallow, silly, and corrupt as the characters they are playing.

It was weird though to realize after he took his sunglasses off that the guy I thought was Jon Hamm was actually Jason Isaacs. The satire of the NC family seemed on target, but it was surprising that so far the UK's Isaacs makes a more convincing Southerner than Mississippi-born Parker Posey.

When Chuck found out that Trump actually helped the people investigating Epstein and that the Biden regime didn't charge Trump with anything because it had nothing it broke him.

What Chuck was really mad about is that Trump turned Epstein down.

Chuck realizes deep down that Trump is just a better person than he is on every level and this truth festers in his twisted shriveled little soul.

Junkie, yes, I liked Wes Moore when he used to come on the pre-breakdown Morning Joe. He seemed like a good middle-of--the-road thinker. I read his book The Other Wes Moore where he interviewed a guy in prison for life who happened to have the same name. Had some outside the box ideas for dealing with crime and bringing up black men. Hope the Dems haven't beaten that out of him. A Vance v Moore election would be the first one in a long time where the winner is a VFW member either way. Last one was Nixon-McGovern in '72! A sunrise thread seems a reasonable place to write down a prediction:
The killer in Charlotte will turn out to be a heavy user of marijuana, just like the murderers who shot up the schools in Tennessee and Minnesota, the murdering kid at Virginia Tech, etc., etc.
I know a bunch of pot heads will assert that marijuana is just wonderful and 'it makes people relax, not be violent,' but the reality is that heavy pot use seems to make people with schizophrenic tendencies to tip over the edge and to become violent. The people I know who work in ERs have told me that pretty close to 100% of the patients brought in having insane violent fits--to the point where they're straining against restraints to hard that they're at risk for heart attack--reek of pot and have extremely high thc blood levels. One of my relatives who is an ER nurse in a western state tells me that they haven't had an amphetamine or pcp psychotic fit in months--they're all pot now.
Perhaps we should start trying to work through the moral issues of denying people a drug they enjoy in order to protect the young and the vulnerable.

What is remarkable to me is that the Epstein Estate Compensation fund has paid out over $100 million to victims without a single abuser being named, let alone indicted.

A huge passive conspiracy of silence on the part of powerful perpetrators.

It is widely understood that Epstein associated with and served a group of financial and political elites who operate under a different legal system than the rest of society. The institutions led by these same elites have repeatedly failed Americans without any meaningful accountability for those failures. This lack of accountability has fueled the anger and resentment that defines our current political climate. While the connections may not always be explicitly drawn, it is clear that certain individuals are shielded from the consequences of their actions, leaving the rest of us to bear the cost.

Epstein spent nearly a decade in Florida between the end of his jail sentence for soliciting prostitution and his arrest on federal sex trafficking charges. During almost that entire period, Pam Bondi served as Florida's Attorney General, yet she failed to bring charges against Epstein. Moreover, under her leadership, the only prosecutors in any state investigating the widespread filing of fraudulent documents in foreclosure cases following the financial crisis were dismissed. Despite these failures, Bondi now serves as the Attorney General of the United States.

These issues are deeply interconnected. Crimes are committed by individuals at all levels of society, but the legal system treats them differently based on the offender's status. Those with greater wealth and influence have more opportunities to perpetrate crimes that affect us all. Americans are exhausted by a system that rewards failure, protects privilege, and burdens the public with the consequences of the actions of our so-called betters. This pattern has become so pervasive that it is now intuitive.

In a few weeks, the government’s funding will run out. If Democrats vote for a new spending bill, they will be funding Trump’s autocratic takeover, according to NYT's Ezra Klein.

Trump has told Congress he doesn’t want Congress and its coequal constitutional role to exist anymore. Such a stance provides Democrats in Congress an opportunity to convince their colleagues that they should defy their liege lord.

But it’s really no more than an opportunity, similar to opportunities Republicans have declined to avail themselves of in recent weeks.

It certainly is likely that fewer than four Republican Senators will assert their own prerogatives, and so Democrats have little choice but to refuse to participate in the willful capitulation of constitutional authority. The message, though, would be simple — Republicans are refusing to perform the role that the Constitution reserves for them.

This is beyond the pale. This is not just another shitty thing politicians do. Any distinction made between gaslighting and truly evil behavior matters. Losing the ability to keep to honesty results in the surrender of all capability to call anything unacceptable.

To add, this is just the risk scenario millions face in their daily commute.

Buwaya wrote: "It was a particularly brutal, senseless murder caught entirely on video. Thats quite rare."

It's not rare at all. Blacks overwhelmingly murder white people, at rates that far exceed their numbers in society in general.

Grok: In 2023, the homicide rate for Black Americans was 26.6 per 100,000, compared to the national rate of 7.1 per 100,000 and 3.9 per 100,000 for white Americans, according to the CDC. The rate of Black offenders killing white victims (12.85 per million) is approximately 15.3 times higher than the rate of white offenders killing Black victims (0.838 per million).

A LOT of these vicious murders are done in broad daylight. You just never get to see the video because our lying media is insanely corrupt. They will uniformly NOT air crime videos where the perpetrator is black and the victim is a young white.

They don't want you to know it's happening because that would motivate you to do something about it - such as vote for Republican "hard on crime" candidates. So they're rigging our elections by keeping this OUT of the news.

Thank God that Elon Musk, a South African, came along and saved America along with Donald Trump.

FormerLawClerk म्हणाले...

I forgot to add that the man who killed Iryna Zarutska, Decarlos Brown Jr., has a brother named Stacey Dejon Brown.

He also murdered a white person, 13 years ago.

Charlotte native Robert Heym, 65, was shot in the face walking home in south Charlotte. CMPD arrested Stacey Dejon Brown, 20, and Roderick Crawford, 21. Police linked the killing to a string of robberies.

It's a way of life. They've been programmed by Democrats and our school systems to see themselves as victims of white oppression. So of course they're going to lash out.

That's why it's not safe to be around them at all.

FormerLawClerk म्हणाले...

Black on white crime is nothing new to me, I've been the "white" part of that lots of times.
I was twice held up at gunpoint by black men in the US, both times in the 1990s. I was also assaulted on the street, once with a stick, in the 80s and 90s, both black men, and once in 2021 by an insane white man. I broke up a black gang beating a black woman in 2019 on Market St. SF. I stood watching and filming them as I called the police. They eventually all ran away after threatening me a few times, woman included, go figure.
Ive twice called the operator on BART trains, once for an apparent overdose another for a nut acting violently (no apparent weapon). Both black. And more incidents of aggressive beggars (all black) on BART, apparently trying to intimidate people (no weapons).

Except this black guy isn't crazy. There were five other people on that train car with him, 3 of them burly black men. He didn't choose to murder them. (None of the other black men helped the girl either.)

He murdered the defenseless 95-pound white girl. From behind, where she wouldn't see the attack coming. Using a knife so he couldn't be arrested for illegally carrying a gun on the train.

He calmly stood over her dying breath and exhorted: "I got that white bitch. I got that white bitch."

That's not crazy. That's a planned murder. In cold blood.

Blacks are now sitting in the back of the bus not because they're required to, it's so they can murder you from behind while you're engrossed in your phone.

gad, your feverish characterization of "autocratic takeover" (I assume regarding Trump's use of the National Guard to fight crime in crime-oblivious blue cities) is not a very compelling characterization of reality. Not only do we have multiple daily accounts of the savagery in these places, but we also have the mind-numbing responses of your favored politicians as additional evidence of insane inaction to consider.

For example, here's what Jasmine Crockett (D-TX) had to say yesterday.

"I want to be clear that, like, law enforcement isn't to prevent crime. Law enforcement solves crime, OK? That is what they are supposed to do. They are supposed to solve crimes, not necessarily prevent them from happening per se," she said.

Sir Robert Peel invented the first modern police force, after which all others have been modeled.

Some thoughts on the light rail stabbing. Forgive me for extra line spacing:

1. Can't let this or any other incident drive blacks and whites further apart. For better or worse, we are fellow English-speaking peoples, in a 400-year shotgun marriage. We have to stick together to have any chance of keeping our culture. The real enemies are non-English-thinking invaders, whether they jump the fence or get an H1B. And of course the Red Chinese, who are laughing their asses off at incidents like this.

2. I accept the theory supra that this guy's mental problems were exacerbated by the availability of legal weed. Nevertheless, legalized weed and other recreational drugs will, on the whole, save lives. Take the market away from gangs, thereby taking away a reason for them to shoot each other. Take a major reason away from stop/frisk and asset forfeiture, which lead to cop/black confrontations, which lead to pro-criminal laws, which lead to more guys like this on the street to stab girls.

3. Similar for legalizing guns. Allowing regular people to defend themselves and complicating criminal calculus are two good reasons. Also takes away another main justification for stop/frisk.

4. Have to break up majority-minority polities. Redistricting, expanding city limits to chase after middle-class flight, voluntary desegregation programs like my Postmodern Homestead plan. 50-some years of majority-minority government has just let the rich and middle class keep their money while reaping the benefits of a metro area, while minority leaders just reap votes and do nothing to improve the minorities' lot.

Recreational weed is not (yet) legal in Texas, so I am not steeped in its lore (yet) (or in its aroma, thank goodness). Can anyone tell me - is there a legal limit for marijuana intoxication in states where it is legal? Analogous to alcohol intoxication - where you are not legal to drive over a certain blood alcohol level, but you can get drunk at a bar as long as you get home without driving, but also the police can (probably) cite you if your public drunken behavior causes certain disruptions even though you're not driving?

And if so, how do they measure it on the spot? Is there a breathalyzer equivalent?

I'm sympathetic to... I think it was JSM's libertarian-adjacent argument for recreational drug legalization - taking the revenue stream away from gangs, etc. But "anything goes" recreational drug use has so many pitfalls.

I'm glad that Alaska summit was such a success.

The Polish have been saying it is not IF Russia will attack, but when.

This is the world without US leadership:
Putin is out of his cage, Netanyahu is off his rocker-- Xi is biding his time.

Trump’s reaction of irate tweets on Truth Social will not make Putin back down.

Putin is clearly playing the old game again: provoke, test, and divert attention. Today, it is drones; tomorrow, it may be remotely guided or AI-driven machines probing deeper. If challenged, Lavrov will simply dismiss it as a “software glitch” or brand the evidence as unverified accusations. The underlying message never changes: if you object, Putin will remind you he can reduce everything to dust or sink entire nations using his nukes. Each violation forces the West to expend more resources on costly defenses, more effort, more disruption, yet all without meaningful retaliation: fear and uncertainty are the main drivers. Without pushback, the pattern will only repeat: today, Poland; tomorrow, Finland, or even Britain. Russia’s malignant mentality ensures that only overwhelming force can check its ambitions. Zelensky understood long ago that this is the only language Putin respects. Poland understands that Putin’s Russia must one day be crushed, just as Nazi Germany was. The confrontation between good and evil is inevitable, and it is only a matter of time.

So, Justice Kavanaugh (R) says “if excessive force is used, the Fourth Amendment prohibits it, and remedies are available in federal court.” That concurrence sounds reasonable on the surface but that’s also where the logic falls apart. If people are being indiscriminately detained because they look brown, then the harm has already occurred, and the Court is essentially saying, yes, it’s unconstitutional—but go sue the government afterward.

That’s not a safeguard, it’s a burden shift. The Court itself has spent years narrowing those very remedies—gutting Bivens, expanding qualified immunity, and generally siding with federal power over individual rights. So Kavanaugh (R) is saying, in effect: You can always sue, but we’ve already done everything we can to make sure your lawsuit fails.

It’s less a defense of constitutional rights than a way to acknowledge them rhetorically while stripping them of real-world enforceability.

Trump waited 12 hours just to post ‘Here we go!’ after a NATO country was attacked by Russia. No plan. No leadership. Just another day where the man who once called Putin a ‘genius’ has no clue what Article 5 means. America can’t afford this level of unserious.”
Polish Foreign Minister Radek Sikorski had strong words for Trump during a news conference on Wednesday, telling reporters Russian President Vladimir Putin ‘laughs’ at Trump’s peace efforts.”
“Putin laughs at President Trump’s peace efforts,” Sikorski said. “Since Alaska, he has only intensified the war. I hope that [Trump] backs his words with action.” TACO DON and his pal Vlad sanctions coming in 2 weeks I mean 50 days oh no i'll have a meeting in 2 weeks WTF this senile old man is over his head.

Maybe Trump knows what Article 5 means and knows that Poland has invoked Article 4, not Article 5.

Then again, maybe Trump has other things to worry about now. Twitter is reporting that prominent Trump supporter Charlie Kirk was just shot in the neck while speaking to a crowd outdoors at Utah Valley University, and rushed to the hospital. There is a rumor (note: rumor!) that he has died. No report yet on whether the shooter has been identified, or apprehended.
