It was as though the Microsoft app was reading my messages in real time, so it would be ready to comment if I asked it anything. Very disconcerting. I opened the settings and found the privacy tab. Apparently, by default if allows itself to look at “…the current webpage, open tabs, browser history, or your preferences in Microsoft…” to provide better answers to queries. If it looks at enough browser history, it will know more about my and my interests than I could ever remember. I unchecked that in a hurry, having no expectation that Microsoft will from henceforth mind its own business.

I watched Highest Lowest (Apple TV+) with Denzel Washington directed by Spike Lee. Disappointing. Spike Lee’s love of NYC is there and interesting soundtrack is there. In the message, I mentioned some recent BP readings, the medication I was taking, and that I had been going to the gym a lot recently which I believed had helped my BP improve. After sending the message, I left the Epic open, and opened Copilot, the Microsoft LLM, to ask for the latest recommendations for BP for a person my age. The Copilot answered in detail, and made specific mention of the medication I was taking, praised my exercising habits, and said that my specific readings were quite acceptable.
It was as though the Microsoft app was reading my messages in real time, so it would be ready to comment if I asked it anything. Very disconcerting. I opened the settings and found the privacy tab. Apparently, by default if allows itself to look at “…the current webpage, open tabs, browser history, or your preferences in Microsoft…” to provide better answers to queries. If it looks at enough browser history, it will know more about my and my interests than I could ever remember. I unchecked that in a hurry, having no expectation that Microsoft will from henceforth mind its own business.

West Texas. Had a somewhat similar experience with my IPhone. Email automatically composed a premature response to opposing counsel. I never saw the proposed response, and somehow, it sent the email. Either a butt email from my back pocket, or perhaps it over heard my wife yelling at her favorite football team and understood something she said as assent to send. I'm a very big fan of AI, but not the way it's being deployed now where it changes the behavior of some of the apps we use daily without telling us. I am turning off the AI features that have been introduced into MS Office, and Apple products until they get its auto behavior mor under control. In the interim some someone(s) are going to suffer some very negative consequences.

Still, some Democrat donors refused to contribute to the Biden family's early fundraising efforts. Will they stick to their resolve? Probably not -- they're weak-willed and have money to burn -- but if they held out, what could the Bidens possibly be able to offer them to change their minds?

I watched Highest Lowest (Apple TV+) with Denzel Washington directed by Spike Lee. Disappointing. Spike Lee’s love of NYC is there and interesting soundtrack is there. But the movie itself reminded me of a bad Bill Cosby episode. Poorly choreographed scenes. I’d like to say the acting was poor but it was much more the director’s fault. Washington was ok but he had very little to work with. The movie is based on High Low (1963), Japanese (HBO MAX), directed by famed director Akira Kurosawa. (He directed 7 Samurai in 1954) Excellent movie. High Low, the movie, is based on one of Ed McBain’s 87th Precinct novels, King’s Ransom (1959). It’s one of McBain’s best. If you buy it for kindle you can add the audible version for $1.99.
BTW, the opening scenes of Highest Lowest are wonderful. You think you’re going to see the best movie ever. Then it crashes. So sad.

While it is true the COVID-19 vaccines profiles could be reported in VAERS, the real truth is that the CDC under Joe Biden ignored the data- that is not a lie- it is the stone cold truth. Any drug with the post-marketing surveillance data that the m-RNA Covid vaccines have in VAERS would have been pulled from the market by the FDA within the first 3 months of distribution in 2021 or would have been immediately restricted to people over the age of 60-70. What the Biden Administration did in mandating/allowing these vaccines be injected into healthy people under the age of 60 is absolutely criminal and the people who did it belong in prison or at the end of a rope in a public square. And the people who supported this politically are never to be trusted on any issue ever again.

Yancey, your timeline doesn’t line up. The vaccines got emergency authorization in Dec. 2020 under Trump’s FDA, and rollout started before Biden even took office. If your concern is that political pressure warped the FDA/CDC decision-making, then that’s a bipartisan problem worth taking seriously. But blaming only Biden while ignoring how Trump’s team fast-tracked the EUAs misses the point. I agree with you that widespread distrust of public health agencies is very concerning, but that place was reached 5 years ago. Public health professionals threw their credibility in the trash.
The EUA was issued under Trump Admin, because the CDC lied about the existence of effective treatments, which would have prevented the authorization for emergency use by law. Biden pardoned the liars.
