Presidents can (and do) persecute their enemies, by sending the IRS after them (as Obama did) or the FBI (as Biden did). When Trump attacks her with speech, as he always has, out in the open, it actually keeps him from persecuting her secretly.

I did not out of laziness but also because Afroyim was not born in the US. He was born in Poland iifr and took US citizenship in the 20s after migrating here. Legally AFAIK. He then took citizenship in Israel in 1960 or so and the state dept tried to revoke his US citizenship. Supremes said Naaaah.
Nishakawa was born in the US to Japanese parents who were US citizens. I forget if they were born here. He was studying in Japan at the start of WW2 and drafted into the Japanese army. State dept revoked his citizenship and would not let him back in the US after the war. Supremes said his citizenship could not be revoked.
I don't think it is something to joke about for the president, though. He could order the state dept to revoke Rosie's citizenship and then she would have to pay lawyers to get it back and it would be a royal pain in the ass for her. I don't know if she could sue for her time and trouble but she should not have to.
I complained too when Obama threatened to drone the Jonas Brothers. He was joking, I am pretty sure. OTOH, he did drone another teenager who was no more guilty of anything than the Jonas Brothers.

Normally I would just let the joke land but I know that Ann doesn't really have the ability to deal with jokes.

Put this offense in order of wrongness with all those done to Trump or his supporters by others who should never use their power that way and see where it falls in the order. Trump has no more and no less power than Obama or whoever ran the Biden administration. I don't see Trump's IRS stopping the opposition from organizing. I don't see Trump's ATF running guns to Mexican cartels to gin up an excuse to revoke the 2nd Amendment. I don't see Trump's military bombing nearly as many countries. I don't see Trump's EPA trying to federally control every piece of land in the US on which rain falls. I don't see Trump's DOJ & FBI & CIA operating against his political opposition with honey traps and perjury traps and bogus leaked charges raised by paid operatives of his campaign. So get back to me when Trump weaponizes the entire federal government like Obama, to operate as political hatchetmen for purely political reasons against the citizenry, and hires over a million more political operatives under the guise of federal employees, like Biden. Until then he can use words of disdain and ridicule against his political opponents all he wants. They can at least talk back!
