"Nearly three weeks ago, on an airport tarmac in Detroit, Eugene asked VP KAMALA HARRIS about plans for a sitdown interview."

Harris gave him a deadline: “I’ve talked to my team,” she said. “I want us to get an interview scheduled before the end of the month.”

That’s four days from now, on Saturday. Of course, “scheduled” doesn’t mean the interview will happen by then....

And "want" doesn't mean she's promising to fulfill her wants... or ours.

Harris campaign staff have been asking reporters who they think she should talk to. Behind the scenes, TV producers from big name anchors have been calling the campaign to pitch their talent as the person she has to do it with.

That's a good way to make people feel included and to create a sense that there is progress. We're going forward, not back, but ever forward... collecting names, collecting dreams... wishes and dreams... what do you want and what do you want... who's your most favorite best-ever big time anchor that in your dream-of-all-dreams interview you see Kamala Harris — the woman who talks to no one — talking to?

Harris has had a light schedule since accepting the nomination Thursday in Chicago....

She's resting, perhaps. Listening to music. Laughing. Hasn't she done enough?

The Politico writers brainstorm about how to participate in the massive enterprise of imagining who should do the interview and how one might sell the campaign on that name.

They've got 7 names of individuals associated with Harris who might be the target of this pitch. I was going to write "individuals in the Harris camp," but the Politicos writers are using the word "camp" to refer to subgroups — "Campaign chair JEN O’MALLEY DILLON and senior advisor DAVID PLOUFFE represent another camp."

This made me wonder if Harris is running her own campaign: "But unlike Biden, Harris herself doesn’t have the same deep history with the journalists now wooing her." And that dredged up an old memory: Remember when Barack Obama, first running for President, was asked if he'd ever run anything, and the example he gave was that he was running his own campaign?

What if Harris is not even running her own campaign? Who thinks that she is? I get the impression we're being asked to just vote for the Democratic Party as a generality. And in that case, what is the meaning of this interview we're asked to think about or perhaps even — some day — watch? It's meaningless.

And maybe these Politico reporters agree with my impression. They ask "What’s the goal?" and then write this, which seems more like an answer to the question Is an interview really worth the risk?

There has been considerable debate in Harris world about the purpose and timing of the interview. The main narrative in the political press is that Harris needs to do a lengthy serious interview with a brand-name news anchor who will push her on issues.

Harris herself has expressed disagreement with that view, we’re told by two people, telling some Democrats she doesn’t need a big showy interview....

Then why haven't you been doing little, casual interviews all along? And why are you making such a huge deal out of this one interview? Do interviews! Just do them! Do little press conferences! Do anything unscripted! This is too much like the problem we just had with Biden. We feel as though you're not talking to us because you can't

Oh, she could. But - giving her a pretty major benefit of the doubt, given that we've all heard her being "unburdened" and ruminating on the significance of the passage of time - if the subject ranged being the intricacies of California prosecutorial process, she risks sounding uninformed and vague.

CJinPA म्हणाले...

Why the theatrics? These will be friendly interviews, why would anyone pretend otherwise? Because, by artificially inflating the urgency of "an interview," they're setting up a one-and-done solution. One chat to relieve the pressure. Maybe a couple more, spaced out.
The goal is to build up demand for ONE interview, which will satisfy the demand with no or little harm done.
This satisfies the campaign and the reporters who have to pretend to be covering it.

Dave Begley म्हणाले...

In a democratic Republic, voters need to know what a candidate has done and will do in the future. What are that candidate's policy positions? America is not a monarchy or an authoritarian regime where a favored person is installed.

This is really beyond pathetic.

How in the world is this woman going to run the country, deal with Russia and China when she can't even sit down for a simple interview with a friendly propagandist?

Begley's questions for Kamela Harris.

1. You assert that the border is secure and that your term as border czar was a success. Over 10 million illegal aliens have invaded the country since you've been VP. Many of these people are criminals and have killed innocent American citizens like GA nursing student Laken Riley. Some of these illegals are young woman who have been sold into sex slavery. Explain yourself.

2. You meet with Vlad Putin right before he invaded Ukraine. What did you tell him that gave him the green light.

3. After George Floyd died of a drug overdose, there were major riots in the Twin Cities. Your VP nominee delayed calling out the National Guard for days. You pimped for a bail fund that let rioters out of jail. At least one of those released went on to commit a murder.

Why do you and Tim Walz support criminals?

4. It was certainly clear for many months that Joe Biden didn't have the mental capacity to be President, but you repeatedly assured the American people that he was at the top of his game. Why did you lie to the American people on such an important issue?

5. When you ran for President in 2019, you said you would ban fracking. Now you allegedly are for it. Should voters believe the 2019 Kamela or the 2024 Kamela?

6. Do you now understand that cloud computing doesn't actually occur in clouds in the sky.

7. Average Americans have seen an increase in grocery prices of 20-30%. Do you understand that all the money the federal government pumped into the economy was the cause? When are you going to apologize for this mistake?

8. You have proposed price controls on food and rent. When and where has that ever worked?

9. Joe Biden and his family grifted at least $27 million during his time as VP and President. What schemes have you and Doug cooked up?

10. As VP had a lower approval rating than even Dick Cheney. What's changed? Why should people vote for you?

Your access will basically be gone. This is the new post-internet truth. The press - the communication channels - are a commodity. The power is with the content creator (i.e.the White House.). If you want to be given any connection or access, you must play the game the content creator demands, and rule 1 is don’t give us bad press.

Or put in other words, there is no “press with power” as we knew it. That is as gone as the horse and buggy.

It works when the only effort that is needed is to respond to the pollster that called you. They called because you are a registered voter, and skewing those polls would help in manufacturing votes that only require the effort of “mailing it in” (and someone will help you fill it out and deliver it).
But it doesn’t work so well in getting people to go to the polls. And if they are not at the polls, then they won’t be there to talk to exit pollers to gain turnout in key precincts. That will complicate the ability to skew results. The more that low enthusiasm spreads across more states, then that’s more key precincts that have to show turnout on Election Day. It is not working well with those likely voters.

I disagree with those who are saying that kamala's refusal to talk about what she'd do as president is "working." The analogy I'd use is a person in a small boat that's leaking. Water is coming in about as quickly as the person can bail it out. As long as the boat doesn't sink, you could say the bailing is working. But the boat is well out to sea and it's by no means certain the person can keep the boat afloat long enough to reach shore.

Kamala is a bad candidate with a bad record and less than majority support.
She's gambling that she can win with just the support she has, without having to sell herself to anyone not already in her corner. Apart from that, her only hope is that Trump loses some of his support between now and November, even though, unlike her, he's actively campaigning. Can she really afford to stand pat, or will there be a lot of second-guessing post-election about how she should've gone out and actually tried to make the case to the voters?

For example, there are astronauts trapped upon the Space Station because of DEI incomptence in the Space program which Shamala "leads." So you interview Dean Philips how it happened and what to do. Then you show Shamala: "Space is big." and then Shamala's comments on what she'd do - but that could only be her promises to hold a press conference by the nd of October. Plus statements about how saying nothing is good. Or a podcast (or TickTok) on antisemitism on campus - and Shamala's current position .i.e.,promise to do press conference at end of August. Podcast of city destruction in George Floyd riots plus Shamala's bail fund - but what would Shamala do now? Clippg her promissing press conference at end of August. Clip of her laughing.

doctrev म्हणाले...

It's the same problem as with Hillary Clinton: Kamala is not popular with swing staters and her very appearance would make them recoil without star-studded "free" concerts. I'm surprised Taylor Swift hasn't put on a special concert series, but then again maybe she doesn't want to upset the proles.

There must be serious temptations towards another fraud, but with war sponsorship on the line that is suicidal.

Drago म्हणाले...

No, because kamala would be cackling for no apparent reason at all....well, aside from inebriation, and Tucker would be laughing at kamala's idiocy.

Matter - anti-matter collision: only Tucker and kamala would disappear.

I’m beginning to think people are coming to the realization the American presidency is not as powerful or important as previously portrayed.

Ernest, I am old enough to remember the lefty media talking endlessly about "The Imperial Presidency".

This is preparatory to him claiming electing Kamala to this unimportant and not very powerful office will be no big deal.

Christopher B म्हणाले...

Of course, electing *Trump* to it will be the end of the GOP at least, and probably democracy.

Drago म्हणाले...

Correct. Prole, donning his faux above it all garb, always seems to "objectively" and "neutrally" coming up with reasons why Trump is completely out of bounds but the New Soviet Democraticals are just doing standard, everyday sort of things that should surprise no one.

"The main narrative in the political press is that Harris needs to do a lengthy serious interview with a brand-name news anchor who will push her on issues" I think it's hilarious that the Politico writers think that a "brand-name" anchor would push her on issues. Unless they mean Tucker Carlson or Joe Rogan, those two are probably the biggest brand-name interviewers today. I honestly cannot tell you who the nightly news anchors are for the big three networks (although I do know the names of a couple of the people who play journalists on their networks).

I think Kamala is using seduction techniques in her quest for the White House.

Her maneuver with the press is known as playing hard to get.

Seems to be working with those twits!

Meanwhile, with me she's doing that move I call the golddigger.

Give me money! Give me money! Give me money!

Please!

Progress? This is just another way to stall for time. Unbelievable behavior for someone who thinks she deserves to be President of the United States

Breezy म्हणाले...

The pretense is for the voters. Now it looks like she’s very popular - so popular that she deserves the donations. The fat cats give the money behind that pretense - it looks like normal political support given by thousands of people. But it very well may not be. Instead, big donors are spreading their donation across hundreds or thousands of names of people on the rolls, but who are not actually doing the donating. This is the ActBlue scenario that VA AG is charging. But once Harris speaks and fails, as we all know she will, continuing the large donations will look too suspicious, so it will have to be dialed back. Just a theory.

Breezy म्हणाले...

Nancy is discreet, reptilian, cold-blooded. She wouldn’t hesitate to use Harris to beef up the cash by magnitudes like this. It’s for the down ballots. She needs Hakeem as Speaker on Jan 6.

Michael K म्हणाले...

And the interviewer must be as stupid as Kamala.

Breezy म्हणाले...

Smith dropped a new 2020 election indictment against Trump…. Lovely.

Jim at म्हणाले...

The problem with wanting Harris to sit down for serious interviews is that Trump is not held to the same standard.

Are you really this stupid? Or do you think we are?

In a democratic Republic, voters need to know what a candidate has done and will do in the future. What are that candidate's policy positions? America is not a monarchy or an authoritarian regime where a favored person is installed.

----

Want to bet? Evidence seems to show otherwise.

I'm trying to understand how any thinking person could vote for Harris/Walz after what has happened, and what has been revealed, over the past few years. I don't even see how someone could vote 3rd party or just fail to vote at all. The current Democrat party and bureaucracy needs to be smacked down hard. And the only way to do that is to vote for Trump in November.

The law fare against Trump (Jack Smith is at it again) and the information confirming that FaceBook was censoring at the instruction of government agencies, should be enough that any true liberal would say "enough is enough".

But it seems most have been so brainwashed into "orangemanbad" that they reflexively take the position that they can't vote for Trump since he is practically Hitler. Are there no independent thinkers left in the Democrat party? Are they so against Trump they'll willingly support such anti-American policies forced onto them. The same goes for the anti-Trumpers in the GOP party. They are willing to go against every position they have espoused in the past just to rid the party of Trump. What has Trump done that is so evil and abhorrent to them?

It can't be the womanizing of years past. That behavior is present in past and present politicians and has been excused by many in both parties. It can't be his aggressive business practices. Many have done much worse and his some pretty normal. It can't be his policies from his time as President. First of all the sudden hatred started immediately after his announcing his campaign, and secondly his policies were not much different from Presidents from both parties in the past.

So please, would someone explain it to me?

What is it that makes so many truly hate Trump and think his policies would be more harmful to our nation than those of the current administration?

In Tucker's interview of RFK, RFK gave a reason that I have believed for a long time. Tribalism.

Look at Inga. She couldn't identify or defend a policy if her life depended upon it. All she has is Rah! Rah! Rah! Democrats!

Kamala-lala is our modern-day wooden Pinocchio: someone else is pulling the strings, she's just a dummy puppet, and there's no brain in there. Now if only her nose grew every time she tells a falsehood, a not factually-correct factoid, another manufactured life-experience tale, she'd grow a de Gaulle-like schnoz as a consequence.

Former Illinois resident म्हणाले...

Went to a friend's family reunion, a backyard filled with white suburban AWFL Kamala supporters. They all express "excitement" for Kamala. Yet not one is aware of her positions are key issues affecting their daily lives. Pink pussy-hatted ladies galore, all sweaty in the summer heat, all shouty about it.

Mason G म्हणाले...

For one thing, Trump has shown that it's possible (for a political neophyte, no less) to implement policies that benefit the lower and middle classes instead of just stirring them up in order to enrich the ruling class.

Drago म्हणाले...

Looks like the usually inebriated kamala had her handlers demand a pre-taped interview on CNN along with bringing along her chaperone Walz!

Can you imagine the amount of editing fixes and do-overs necessary just to get this idiot in front of a camera?
