"In a chapter entitled 'He Loves Me, He Loves Me Not,' Dr. Fauci described how Mr. Trump repeatedly told him he 'loved' him while at the same time..."

"... excoriating him with tirades flecked with four-letter words. 'The president was irate, saying that I could not keep doing this to him,' Dr. Fauci wrote. 'He said he loved me, but the country was in trouble, and I was making it worse. He added that the stock market went up only 600 points in response to the positive Phase 1 vaccine news, and it should have gone up 1,000 points, and so I cost the country "one trillion dollars."' (The president added an expletive.)..."

The original shot worked on the original virus very effectively. Very effectively means reduced the number of infections that each case passed on to less than 1.0 and the virus disappeared very quickly, as theory said it would. Shots began in Nov-Dec 2020 and the number of new cases (in Ohio, which I was watching) was essentially zero by May 2021.

Delta was the new variant and hadn't really gotten started in the US by May. There's no evidence that the shots worked on any other variant, but that's Biden's regime.

The biggest criticism I have of Donald Trump term in office is that he put people like Pence, Birx, and Fauci in charge of COVID response in February/March of 2020- all three of those people needed to be fired by the end of March 2020 and Trump didn't do it. Trump's instincts about what to do were right but he failed to follow them and listened to people who were deliberately sabotaging the country to aid in his political defeat.

Remember when Republicans in the Senate were threatening to convict Trump for impeachment during the first months of COVID?

The entire DC apparatus and media were after Trump and he managed to keep the federal government from mandating shutdowns.

The tightrope he walked in 2020 was insane.

I realize now that if he had done what I wanted he would have been right.

But he also would have been impeached.

He would also have been impeached and if you remember that time most of the country would have supported it.

Ann would have supported impeaching Trump if he had fired Birx and Fauci. Most of the Desantis supporters here would have supported impeaching Trump.

There were maybe 2 other people on this board that didn't flame me when I said COVID was only dangerous to old and infirm from the start.

Meade was all in on the lock downs. Meade would have supported impeaching Trump.

People need to stop with the 20/20 bullshit.

Because every lever of power propped him up as a hero.

People want to look back as if they knew everything at the time. They didn't.

And the biggest blind spot in all of this is with the "conservatives" that were attacking Trump at the time. Trump knew there was 60-70% of the country that was scared and wanted lock downs and masks.

Most of the people here were attacking me at the start.

If Trump would have done what I wanted from the start he would have been right.

He also would have been impeached and Desantis would be losing to Biden in the polls right now.

This is how Fauci remains on the 'good side' of those who control the narrative and amplify that narrative via social media, news organizations, podcasts, etc. Show yourself as the man in battle, facing up to Trump. If you're against Trump, it doesn't matter if you oversaw and paid for the development of a virus that killed millions, destroyed the global economy, and stunted the social maturity of an entire generation.

You're against Trump, so you're good.

Two things that work for the Left these days: Be against Trump, no matter what. And be against Israel and/or Jews. If you can do both, well...you're in. What must it be like to be a 'lefty' these days?

Trump couldn't fire Fauci, who was a government employee and thus very well protected. All that would have done was started a shitstorm of investigations, impeachment, and lawsuits, all while Fauci went on TV every day and made himself into the hero.

Most people were not vulnerable to disease progression. The pandemic was aborted, curtailed through covariant and acquired natural immunuty. The mrna treatment produced excess injuries and deaths. Planned Parenthood was another viable Choice to facilitate equitable inclusion of vulnerable cohorts. Masks acted as collectors to enable concentrated spread of the virus and misunderstanding of viral dynamics.

Are you learning disabled or something?

By the time Trump arrived in the oval office, already under the direct threat of impeachment not just from the dems, always a given, but forcefully by Paul Ryan and Mitch McConnell, Fauci was one of the longest, if not the longest, and highest paid, employee in the US government.

Fauci became head of the NIAID in....wait for it...wait for it...1984! Under Reagan.

Others have pointed this out, but had Trump fired Tony Fauci the GOPe-ers would have LED the impeachment process.

narciso म्हणाले...

something like 100 million, hence the lockdowns, those there the U Washington Chris Murray numbers,

Drago म्हणाले...

The Godfather: "Does anyone here know (a) how many US Covid deaths were being predicted at the beginning of the pandemic, and (b) how many we actually had?"

Projected deaths back in 2020 was approximately 2.2 Million for the US (the corrupted Lancet study that nonetheless was the key driver in the made up social distancing policy and all the other BS pandemic policies, including vote by mail law changes, pushed by the establishment).

Current BS estimates of covid deaths, still inflated, over all the past years is about 350,000.

Trump often told the story of how "his" entire corrupted "health" team walked into his office and told him if he didn't call for a 2 week shutdown millions would be dead and that it could be avoided with an accelerated vaccine development program (which we now know was a pre-setup deal with Gain of Function-Fauci and his ChiCom allies) ....with the GOPe-ers waiting in the wings with the dems to impeach him.

The rest is history.

Big Mike म्हणाले...

@Althouse, are you reading the book yourself? Is there a chapter where he admits that he and NIH director Francis Collins collaborated to spread the lie that COVID-19 was not of artificial origin? Does he speculate on whether its release from Wuhan Labs and subsequent spread to the US was accidental versus deliberate?

Is there a chapter where he discusses how much money he, personally, and his agency (the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID)) collected regarding the COVID vaccines? Not to mention how much less he would have pocketed if he had not suppressed information about safe, low cost, effective treatments such as HCQ + zinc and Ivermectin? Does he talk about that?

As I’ve written here repeatedly, it is a huge mistake to think of Fauci as a scientist. He is a professional bureaucrat and that is all he is. His skills are in lying plausibly, backstabbing, taking credit for work done by others, and keeping an eye open for opportunities to climb the bureaucratic ladder over the bodies of better people. Washington, DC, a city I lived in or around for more than 45 years, s full of people like him. There may even now be liberals who delude themselves into thinking that people join the federal work force to be servants to the American people. Yes, there are such people — they occupy the entry levels of their respective agencies, and seldom last long.

Thinking of the millions of Americans who died to satisfy Fauci’s greed, ego, and desire to see Trump f**ked over, burning at the stake would be too quick and painless.

William म्हणाले...

Fauci lied, but maybe he lied in good faith. What I mean by that is that maybe he lied in order to advance a narrative that he thought would save lives. Maybe, maybe not. .... I think Randi Weingarten, by way of contrast, lied and lied in bad faith. She screwed up the lives of a generation of students for no other purpose than to make the lives of her teachers easier.....Some time back there was a lengthy New Yorker article about Fauci. During the AIDS epidemic the gay activists gave him a much harder time than that given by the MAGA people. Still Fauci and the gay activists kissed and made up afterwards. No grudges were held. I guess gay activists, unlike MAGA people, are liberals and thus part of The Blessed as is, of course, Fauci. Teachers also are part of The Blessed, and that's especially true of their union which is The Super Blessed. So don't expect any untoward words directed against gay activists or teacher union spokespeople by Fauci.

Mike Pence would have ended up president if Trump fired the liars.

There was a clear plan to put that traitor in charge, have him lock down the country, and blame the lock downs and damage they caused on Republicans.

The 20/20 bullshit has to end.

Looking back with open minded analysis I realize that even though I was right, Trump did the thing that result in the best possible outcome. He was on an island. Nobody supported what he did. How it worked out this way I do not know.

Whether it was luck or brilliance I cannot tell. I currently believe a higher power intervened for whatever reason and Trump was the tool used.

But stop pretending the Republican Party and the Romney Republican voters would not have turned on Trump if he fired Fauci.
