There is a new Polish film out. It is based on a Nobel Prize winning book. The Peasants I'm not particularly interested in the story, but the movie itself looks really interesting. It is shot in such a way that everything looks like an oil painting. And it apparently has scenes which match up with some famous Polish oil painting art pieces. Apparently a fair amount of these pieces are from an artist named Józef Chełmoński.
In reference to the Supreme Court ethics thread I was wondering if this code could be made mandatory for all judges, local, state and federal every where in the U.S.? If not, why not? Just asking.

In other news, the current death toll of Palestinians killed by Israel in Gaza has now gone over 11,000. 4,000 of them Children. Hospitals and schools are among the over 34 percent of Gaza buildings destroyed or heavily damaged by USA Supplied Bombs.
I do vacation rentals a few hours outside of Phoenix Arizona as my main business. I've come to realize that my best behaved customers are the poorest sort of Mexican immigrants from west Phoenix. Do a street view of their address and it's fucking tragic what you see. They're polite and decent. My very worst guests? Scottsdale "wine mom" tourists who can't quite afford to stay in Sedona (hey Crack, I knew you'd enjoy that tidbit!).
As long as I'm racially profiling, I'll add this: my black customers are relatively few, and mostly very good. On the whole they are better than average. When they are bad guests, they are unthinkably bad guests. All I know for sure is that middle aged white women in groups are by far the worst behaved.
In other news, 'rcocean' is too damned gullible to ask how many Gaza civilians have been murdered by their fellow Muslims*, how many Hamas soldiers have been killed by Israel (I've heard estimates of 4,000-5,000 and rising), how many more have been captured, and how many of the "children" "murdered" by Israel were 16- and 17-year-olds firing weapons at Israel, which makes them legitimate targets. If Hamas recruits under-18 fighters, that is yet another war crime. If they are killed firing at Israeli soldiers or civilians, it is still a war crime for Hamas, but not for Israel.
Of course, he also thinks the problem at Harvard and MIT is that "people aren't liking Jews enough" when in fact "people" (they are at least technically human) are assaulting Jews, threatening to kill them, and preventing them from going to class.

*Roughly 10% of Hamas rockets never make it to Israel but fall in Gaza or the sea: they've killed hundreds of their own that way. Does 'rcocean' care? Does Hamas still claim that an Israeli rocket killed 500 or 471 at a hospital early on, when in fact it was an errant Palestinian Islamic Jihad rocket that hit the hospital parking lot, killing 10-50? Are those '500' included in the supposed 11,000 death toll? Hamas has been forcing civilians to stay in the north after Israel told them to leave. Hamas snipers have killed many civilians fleeing southwards. Many more were killed when Hamas tunnels full of explosives blew up and the apartment buildings above them (which would have been empty if Hamas had allowed the civilians to leave) collapsed. How is that Israel's fault? Has 'rcocean' even thought about that?
rcocean: "In other news, the current death toll of Palestinians killed by Israel in Gaza has now gone over 11,000. 4,000 of them Children. Hospitals and schools are among the over 34 percent of Gaza buildings destroyed or heavily damaged by USA Supplied Bombs."
I dont for one second believe the death toll estimates coming out of Hamas Taqqiya Command.
Particularly since these "estimates" contain verifiable lies (500 dead from the hospital parking lot? Uh, no)
Counting combatants as civilians?
Our Survey sez: brrrrrzzzzzttt!
Civilians dying from failed Hamas rocket shots? Sorry. Those dont count.
As for buildings destroyed, yes, Hamas does make it a habit to use schools, mosques, hospitals, residential buildings for weapons caches and military ops.
Having said that, there is no doubt the numbers of civilians killed in Gaza is vastly more than should have been due to the human shield policies of the islamic supremacists.

You have to stop believing whatever the Islamic Nazis of Gaza tell you about casualties. They lie. Take any number they quote, and divide by 100.
The Islamic Nazis of Gaza don't care about ordinary Gazans. The INOG will arrange death for OGs if it will help the narrative. The INOG are withholding and/or stealing fuel from the hospitals and don't give a good goddamn if an infant dies. The only INOG is a crucified INOG.

Those homeless camps in San Francisco? Turns out, the government can clear them out easily enough when it suits their purposes. The New York Post reports...
Drug addicts, dealers and homeless who have plagued San Francisco’s downtown have miraculously disappeared this week as the city cleans up for a huge international event (the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit, which starts tomorrow and runs through Nov. 17).
The city focused on seven intersections in the Tenderloin and South of Market, or SoMa, neighborhoods which is home to some of the more concentrated encampments where drug-addled people high on fentanyl and heroin can be seen passed out on the streets every day.
“They started clearing the tents earlier this week and there is definitely a lot more police presence,” SoMa resident and community activist Ricci Lee Wynne told The Post.
One can learn a lot reading good science fiction. For example, from one Berserker story from Fred Saberhagen I found that encyclopedia (and dictionary and map) publishers put things in the books or one the maps that don't really exist. And the reason is simple- if you're going to prove someone pirated your work instead of doing original research and mapping, you ask the question during trial "What can you tell the court about Silver Lake?". But Silver Lake is non-existent... Kind of tough to explain how you did all the legwork and came up with the same non existent place name. Likely 99.9% of the time- such fake insertions are harmless.
I was looking up North Sentinel Island one time, and noticed that Google Maps listed some sort of boat club and marina on the island. A few weeks after noting this, I made a comment on Facebook and in a few blog comment section asking what Google's liability would be if some poor innocent boater landed on the island looking for this club- based on Google maps saying it was there. 48 hours from my first posting of that- the club wasn't there anymore. So someone read what I posted.
And that brings me to this story: https://themessenger.com/tech/google-maps-canada-mountain-trail-vancouver with the headline Google Maps Repeatedly Stranded Hikers On Nonexistent Mountain Trail. Oops- not so harmless now, is it? Was it deliberately inserted to catch map pirates? If so- not enough thought was put into it.
My first GPS, a Garmin, consistently directed us to take a "paved road" as a shortcut to where we going that was in reality a dirt path in the middle of a farmer's field- that did lead all the way over to the next road- but was gated off. I'm certain that was a deliberate error put in- since our subsequent Garmins still had it as a road. But my wife now uses the built in map on her Ioniq, and I use maps from my Iphone- sometimes Google, sometime Apple maps. Oh- if you want a dedicated GPS- Garmins are really good.
I have to wonder how many people ending up in weird spots are ending up there because the mapmakers weren't thinking hard enough about the dangers of people blindly following the computerized directions. After all, if you inserted something into the mapping program telling it to never use Route 666- the map pirates might guess Route 666 doesn't really exist. Better to put non-existent (or just creatively misspelled) place names then non-existent roads. Let someone search for Shangri-La rather then hike a non-existent dangerous trail or take their tractor trailer down a road that turns into a one lane dirt path.

"Initially diagnosed with [a form of cancer was among the 5% that are slow-growing and potentially curable] in 2003, Jobs delayed surgery, a decision he expressed regret over to his biographer. At first, Jobs found the idea of surgery too invasive and opted for alternative treatments like acupuncture, dietary supplements, and juices.
Visited the local Chevrolet dealer yesterday to look for a pick up truck. This is small town USA so I was dealing with the owner of the dealership. I asked him how many electric vehicles he sold this year. He responded "zero". And has no plans to get any. He said no one has asked for one.
"A purported email from a deputy city administrator in Wisconsin sent to employees discourages "religious decorations" in public buildings over the holidays.
The email, obtained by media outlet Wisconsin Right Now, appears to be from Wauwatosa Deputy City Administrator Melissa Cantarero Weiss.
It begins by asking city employees to create a "welcoming and inclusive environment for all residents and visitors to our buildings, as well as all our co-workers."
It states that Christmas decorations are commonly seen throughout public counters at city hall and reminds workers not everyone celebrates the holiday. With the reminder, the email asks departments to refrain from using "religious decorations" or "those solely associated with Christmas (such as red and green colors)" when decorating public spaces within city buildings.
Some neutral, inclusive decorations suggested include snowflakes, snow people, festive lighting, greenery and incorporation of colors like blue, green and purple."
@Humperdink:" I asked him how many electric vehicles he sold this year...."
Look carefully. There are a lot of vehicles now coming out that are 'light hybrid' or 'hybrid' configurations and offer few-to-none alternative choices. One of the most popular pickups here was the Toyota Tundra, with a very dependable V-8. We had it in our old Sequoia too. But not any more - both models now come with a smaller 6 cylinder turbo, with an electric motor between the engine and transmission. Why? Because the gas engine is under-powered and suffers from bad turbo lag; the electric motor is to make up for that shortfall by stepping up when you put your foot down.
Stellantis (Dodge/jeep/Chrysler) is doing the same thing. The CAFE standards that our illustrious limo-riding Congressmen put into place are now coming home to roost, and the V-8 performance we've been enjoying for the past 100 years has been shown the door. It's turtles and hybrids all the way down.
I saw a video of Tesla's new "pickup" truck. The bed of the "pickup" trucks is tiny, more toy-like than work-like. The only buyers for that "pickup" truck are going to be rich, white soy-boys who want to look cool. The Tesla "pickup" truck is cool. Not good for much else.
Yeah, I know, The Guardian. Still worth a read. I found it via a link in a Glenn Reynolds article on Instapundit.
"The Chicago police department operates an off-the-books interrogation compound, rendering Americans unable to be found by family or attorneys while locked inside what lawyers say is the domestic equivalent of a CIA black site. The facility, a nondescript warehouse on Chicago’s west side known as Homan Square, has long been the scene of secretive work by special police units. Interviews with local attorneys and one protester who spent the better part of a day shackled in Homan Square describe operations that deny access to basic constitutional rights.
Alleged police practices at Homan Square, according to those familiar with the facility who spoke out to the Guardian after its investigation into Chicago police abuse, include:
Keeping arrestees out of official booking databases. Beating by police, resulting in head wounds. Shackling for prolonged periods. Denying attorneys access to the “secure” facility. Holding people without legal counsel for between 12 and 24 hours, including people as young as 15. At least one man was found unresponsive in a Homan Square “interview room” and later pronounced dead."
There are 2 kinds of wars. 1. Western Civilization Wars, with rules set out by the Geneva Convention. The GC prohibits the taking of hostages, prohibits co-locating military materiel with hospitals, schools, and other civilian activity, and mandates humane treatment of POWs. Further, if one side violates these rules and civilians get hurt or killed, the fault is put to the violators. I learned all this in Basic Training many years ago. 2. War in the Real World. See, e.g., the other side in every war the US has fought since WWII, every war Israel has fought, every war fought in Africa or Asia between 3rd world nations. I learned in Basic Training the we don't do that. I later learned that we do do that, when the other side starts first.
Incredibly, even after their history, the IDF still follows the GC. Not 100%, but probably >90%, if such things can be quantified. Israel's enemies take pride in rejecting the tenets of the GC.
Sow the wind, reap the whirlwind. Don't start nothin', won't be nothin'.
“By the time Americans woke up on October 7, 2023, it was clear that what had unfolded while we slept was not like previous wars or battles Israel has fought in its 75-year history. This was a genocidal pogrom. It was a scene out of the many places Jews had fled—a scene from the history of the Nazi Holocaust and of the European pogroms before that and of the Farhud, the 1941 massacre of Jews in Baghdad, a city that, it’s hard to believe now, was 40 percent Jewish at the beginning of the twentieth century—all of which remind us of Israel’s necessity.
The Hamas terrorists came across the border into southern Israel on foot and on motorbike. They came by truck and by car and by paraglider. And they came with a plan. They came to Israel to murder and maim and mutilate anyone they could find. That is what they did.
These Cossacks had smartphones. They called their families to brag that they had murdered Jews. Dad, Dad, I killed 10 Jews! Others filmed the slaughter with GoPros. Some used the cellphones of their victims to upload the footage of their torture and murder to their Facebook pages. In all of this, the terrorists are euphoric. No one who has watched the unedited footage fails to note the glee of the butchers.
Some Israelis were literally disappeared on October 7—burned at such high heat that volunteers are still sifting through the bones and the remnant teeth to identify them. But we know that more than 200 people are currently being held hostage by Hamas and that more than 1,400 were murdered in those terrible hours. Among the dead are some thirty American citizens. There are at least ten Americans among the hostages.
All of which is why the immediate analogy the world reached for was to 9/11.
As with 9/11, the terrorists caught their victims by surprise on a clear blue morning.
As with 9/11, the spectacle and the savagery were the point.”
You can tell these pro-Hamas/“Palestinian” protesters are proud of their beliefs and their actions because they never cover their faces. They stand tall and spout their hatred without hiding behind masks.
When a gifted young singer or filmmaker emerges on the left, the entire media ecosystem works in tandem to lift that person up. They are noticed in Vanity Fair, the Hollywood Reporter, the Washington Post, and the New York Times. There are profiles on the morning shows, grants and financial support. Everybody pulls in one direction.
On the right, it is almost the opposite effect. “There is a lot of gatekeeping,” Roland tells me,...
Because the right demands you not only kiss their butt, but lick it for luck. Look at what happened to that guy singing about rich men from Virginia or whatever. As soon as they found out he wasn't a 100% right-wing whack job, they dropped him like a hot potato. Only Joe Rogan was generous enough to deal with him like he should've been treated, so the right has probably blown a chance to gain a troubadour. This is the difference between TrumpLand and the GOP.

The GOP will block impeachment of the man facilitating the invasion at our southern border and then blame pro-lifers when the base doesn’t show up to vote
Wisconsin city employees instructed to avoid religious holiday decorations in public buildings: report
The message states that December is busiest month for Wauwatosa's city hall
To quote Charlie Brown: good grief.

CHRISTIAN "religious decorations"
Ramadan decorations are Still fine, right?
Halloween decorations are Still fine, right?
Gay Pride Month decorations are Still fine, right?

I saw a video of Tesla's new "pickup" truck. The bed of the "pickup" trucks is tiny, more toy-like than work-like. The only buyers for that "pickup" truck are going to be rich, white soy-boys who want to look cool. The Tesla "pickup" truck is cool. Not good for much else.
If you are interested... get involved.

The disappeared: Chicago police detain Americans at abuse-laden 'black site' (The Guardian, Tue 24 Feb 2015)

As to the last one, taking the decorations down too early - not fine.
NYTimes' Bari Weiss Melts Down On Joe Rogan's Show!
Andrew Sullivan: "Do you deny that Hezbollah has very close ties to Islamist fundamentalism and terrorism?"
Christopher Hitchens: "Hezbollah organized the resistance against an illegal, criminal Israeli occupation,...they had under international law every right to resist and repel that occupation."
Andrew Sullivan: *Crickets*

Abby Martin's Views on Israel | Joe Rogan
You can tell these pro-Hamas/“Palestinian” protesters are proud of their beliefs and their actions because they never cover their faces. They stand tall and spout their hatred without hiding behind masks.
They are so brave.
The latest breakdown on deaths from October 7: 3 to 17 minors and 0 to 3 babies.
No word on if they were decapitated, but - considering the right's love for murder porn - I seriously doubt it.
[Bari Weiss] turned into a stuttering MESS after Joe Rogan challenged her!
"What people like Hitler thought was that, actually, there were parts of the population that were like a cancer, and what you needed to do was chop out that bit of the population."
That sounds very familiar to anyone listening to what Zionists say.
Piers schooled on hypocrisy, finally condemns Israel
Watching the March for Israel gathering on the Capitol Mall, I note that it’s a large gathering and one other thing:
I do not see any masks or anything else covering faces. It’s like they’re proud of the stand they are making and of the common cause!
This helps restore faith in humanity and shows the half-witted Hamas supporters for the rodents they are.

Don't I know it,...
The Left uplifts its artists. Why doesn’t the Right?
Because the right demands you not only kiss their butt, but lick it for luck. Look at what happened to that guy singing about rich men from Virginia or whatever. As soon as they found out he wasn't a 100% right-wing whack job, they dropped him like a hot potato. Only Joe Rogan was generous enough to deal with him like he should've been treated, so the right has probably blown a chance to gain a troubadour. This is the difference between TrumpLand and the GOP.
People in the GOP suck.
