Now, everyone knows Bobbi Storm, and there's a NYT article about her: "Gospel Grammy Nominee Is Nearly Kicked Off Flight for Singing/In a widely shared video, a Delta flight attendant told the gospel singer Bobbi Storm that she would be removed if she would not listen to his instructions to be quiet."@bobbi_storm Oooooooooi watching this back | have came a loooooooong way! | been into it with a flight attendant before in which resulted in a major airline calling to bribe me with miles and apologize and I wasn't even singing on it...l was just black and she had a bad day. 🤷🏾♀️ I'm glad I got to share this moment with people on this flight that embraced me and celebrated with me. I want to post this for people who have momentary power... It gets us no where being nasty and I'll leave that there! Blessings to you all from your #FearlessFlightSinger #TheMaverickWay #WeCantForgetHim #grammys ♬ original sound - bobbi_storm
And here she is on Instagram, explaining her divine mission:
One thing you will never be able to do is question my obedience, and the people saying God won’t call you to cause disruption, in fact He will. Even in his word he has told his ppl to disrupt and shake things up for his glory....
Please don't shake things up for God on an airplane.

It's not God calling her to cause disruption. Tiktok, youtube, X, and world star hip hop have roundly convinced most people the cause is something else entirely.
You know....cause it happens so often.
You don't have to follow the instructions. You also do not have to fly on that day. Simple.
And to think just 22 years ago, the consensus was that the proper response to essentially any misbehavior on a plane was for the passengers to immediately pile on the miscreant and use force until they could no longer continue their disruption. Could we go back to that standard, please?
I don't know Bobbi Storm.
"I was just black and she had a bad day."
Always with the racism, isn't it?
They easily and quickly claims of accusations are now sooooooo tiring.
Is it not a violation of federal law to ignore the directions of a flight attendant?
Time to cash in on "singer on a plane" meme generator.
I thought this day might never come.
If a passenger on an airplane insists on singing aloud, against the directions of the flight crew, because she claims she was being told by an imaginary entity to sing, she should certainly be taken off the flight, and probably examined for possible psychosis.

I am thinking of a mashup of “Singer on a Plane” and “Snakes on a Plane”. Toss in some Tiffany “That [dude] is not real” Gomas as well, too.
The flight attendant is also black.
Also, the flight attendant is male.
"I don't know Bobbi Storm."
You do now.
I've always suspected there was something slightly sinister about people singing out loud in public places, where it's not expected or invited.
Almost daring someone to object. It's portrayed as joyful, but there's a sense of intimidation under it.
Black people are incredibly disruptive. Always have been. Always will.
"You do now"
I now know her name, that's true. It sounds like one of the X-Men.
I was responding more to the bold statement "everyone knows" her. I'm not sure who was asserting that and if there was a tongue-in-cheek element to it. Perhaps it was meant as a meta comment on how ubiquitous social media has become.
We used to say to entertainers "Just shut up and sing".

Thank you. I was hoping that someone would get around to pointing out the real key to this story.
So was God prompting her to sing, or was God prompting her to try and get a viral video of her singing on the plane which might coincidentally attract more attention to her singing career?
Try jumping up and breaking into song in the middle of a Christian church service. Especially entertaining if done during communion in a Catholic church.
She was a little wound up, but with good reason. It was a little embarrassing, but she wasn't hurting anything. It was sweet. Good for her on the Grammy nominations. I'm happy for her.
The ball-bearing stew was a classic petty tyrant.
Good for her! She's just exploding with pride. It's a cool moment. And I have to tell you as someone who has spent many hours on many planes over the years: I'd much rather listen to her beautiful voice singing than to hear one more stupid video from Delta telling me how their airline brings us all together. Ironic.
" ... and the Lord is telling you to sing."
Would that be The Lord of the Fliers?
Go tell it on the mountain, don’t crash into it!
We have a 4 year old grandson who’s fond of belting out the chorus of “Take On Me” by A-ha out in public at the most inappropriate times.
The kid can’t help it.
This woman is obnoxious and narcissistic (par for the course for entertainers).
I don't know her, and would be a bit concerned that she is unstable.
Who is holding the camera/phone?
White people are assholes...oh, wait...
It's annoying fake piety--if God called her to sing and be disruptive why would she stop at the threat of being removed from a single flight? Surely God, who commands obedience to his divine will even unto torture and death, would be disappointed at her quaking in the face of mild disapproval from a fight attendant! She's meant to face down the devil himself, and claims to be an example for others, but her actions demonstrate a lack of conviction.
Lukewarm, neither cold nor hot, and should be spit out (of the plane, at least).
F her. Shut up and sit down.
"I Am Somebody!"
See what Jesse wrought...
Omg. Rocco. You just hit a triple of the wall. If I only had a plane... I mean the tools. If I only had the tools.
For how long was she singing? I could tolerate a minute or two, but, any longer? Yeah, button up and sit down. Count me among those woefully ignorant of her existence, also.
I don't know about you, Althouse, but this is one of the reasons I don't like to fly. There is always somebody who thinks they are special and the rules don't apply to them. And people with screaming kids.
Bill Clinton and Barack Obama have won Grammys, and - if they ever flew commercial and on a flight I was on - I'd want them to sit down and shut up, too.
Robert Cook:
If a passenger on an airplane insists on singing aloud, against the directions of the flight crew, because she claims she was being told by an imaginary entity to sing, she should certainly be taken off the flight, and probably examined for possible psychosis.
Once in a while Cook and I agree completely.
This wasn't spontaneous, it was a commercial.
It could have been worse. It could have been some geek, all excited over 1st prize at the science fair and headed to Nationals.

There's a time and a place for everything. Singing on a commercial flight with an audience that can't leave is not the proper time and place.
When I fly, I like to read, not sing.
Why do all people try to control e/other?
She should have just sung quietly to herself in her seat w/out the preamble humble brag- if she is/was any good, then she could have explained who she was and why she shares her gift of song for the Lord.
It’s not what you do, but how you do it.
A friend always cites that. Idk who said it first.
I felt badly for her.
The ball-bearing stew was a classic petty tyrant.
This could be true but it doesn't release her from her obligation to obey flight crew instructions. It's miserable enough on most flights to have to deal with someone else causing literally any sort of cabin-wide disruption.
Just asking...was this during the in-flight movie?
All my flights are boring and usually on time. The price is reasonable and the safety record is unbelievable.
When you a passenger on an aircraft, military discipline is required. Sit down and shut up. Be thankful and appreciate what it takes to launch your delicate bag of H2O near the speed of sound up to 6-miles high and deliver you safely home.
Depends on the song
99 beers on the wall,
Take one down and...
For people with little kids
Baby shark, do do do do
Wheels on the bus go round and round
The floor is lava!
Is this going to be a thing - we get phone videoed in flight watching acts staged for PR purposes - or may be on the subway, or blocking rush hour. And what if a competitor for the same Grammy is there competing for our attention? Another competitor claiming the Lord wants her to win? The Lord God made us and He loves all but sometimes he must just shake his head.
It's funny she said that, because after about 2 seconds of listening to her belting it out, God made my finger click on the 'Back' arrow. Happened all by itself, a miracle.

There are different kinds of disruptions. Some worse than others. White people tend to forget or minimize theirs - even in Israel:
"The US Army overturned the convictions of black soldiers who were accused of mutiny in 1917 and hanged after admitting racial discrimination tainted their trials."
Please don't give her any more attention. The group Maverick City Music was nominated for two Grammy awards this year (they have won five Grammy awards in the past two years).
Bobbi Storm is not in the group and is not even listed on their Wikipedia page. She was a guest vocalist on one of the songs on their latest album, The Maverick Way).
Rusty,
And people with screaming kids.
You surely realize that the people with screaming kids are usually far more mortified than you are irritated. They're in a truly awful situation.
"I now know her name, that's true. It sounds like one of the X-Men."
Or a stripper/porn name...
I'll take screaming kids over pissy cotton-heads any day.
