Looks ominous, no? But an hour later, it was a bright blue sky, and all day it was brilliant and crisp.

I went to the grocery store this evening.. 2 bags and a jug of milk... $35
The bags were the little plastic ones, NOT the big paper ones

Our weather is depressing. Near 100% humidity. Cloud layer just at the level of the hill to the north of us, about 300-400-ft. Mist among the evergreen trees about half way up the hill.

But, no worry about sunburn today.

Ominous. Is there a more ominous choice of work?
Foreboding?

This morning (8:31am) 'traditionalguy' posted this on the Sarah Silverman thread:
"Incidentally, the NATO/American war with Russia is over. Russia has won."

This is utterly false. Apparently he hasn't heard:

1. That the Russians have lost at least 4 large ships in the last month or so, 2 destroyed in drydock and 2 more hit by Ukraine's newly-developed drone-torpedos, and have withdrawn almost all their ships from Sevastapol. Black Sea Fleet HQ was also blown up - all 3 wings of the U-shaped building - and dozens of officers killed, including the commander of the BSF. Two oil rigs with Russian radar on them were captured, and the radar and missile system on the western tip of Crimea destroyed by commandos in small boats.

2. That (as a result of that) the Russian blockade of Ukraine has collapsed, and 30+ merchant ships have now ignored it and are hauling Ukrainian grain to countries that need it.

3. That Biden finally delivered some long-promised ATACMs and Ukraine used 5 of them the night before last to destroy ~25 Russian helicopters and a radar system at two different airfields. They also shot down 6 Russian fighter jets in the last week.

4. That Ukrainian marines crossed the Dnipro in two different places and the Russians think it's a major bridgehead, though it's apparently just a very successful raiding expedition by ~200 marines that they're unable to deal with, so the raiders haven't withdrawn.

5. Most important, that the Russians started a massive offensive against Avdiivka a week ago and have been taking huge casualties while capturing very little ground, and then losing that. Their biggest success on the first day was to capture a couple of 40-meter high slag heaps. Most recently, Ukraine destroyed 55 Russian tanks and 120 armored personnel carriers in one day, and killed 1380 Russians, all one-day records for this war. It's a total turkey shoot, as the Russians come right into the open with columns of armored vehicles and masses of infantry and get stuck in minefields and slaughtered.

And yes, anyone who looks for it can find all the evidence he wants that all this is true, much of it coming from Russian sources. I've recommended 9-10 informative Twitter feeds at least three times before, but have no indication that anyone here has ever bothered to look at any of them, so I won't bother to do it again unless someone asks. You're all welcome to read the likes of ZeroHedge and Kim Dot Comm if you'd rather wallow in your own ignorance.

Sometimes it takes power to be abused, for everyone to plainly see that discretion has little to do with valor when corruption grips the land. Whatever is happening with Sydney Powell is not how any of this is supposed to work.

I looked up the story with an unforgettable line: On May 25, 1987, Donovan (and all of the other defendants) were acquitted with a number of jurors openly applauding the verdict, after which Donovan was famously quoted as asking, "Which office do I go to to get my reputation back?"

Its feels like less than useless to ask why does this kind of injustice keep happening, in the supposed freest land in the world?

No red sky at morning leads to a beautiful day. Check. For science, we need you to start taking sunset photos, too. Report later if red sky at night made for a delightful evening.

They went after Trump for treason (colluding with Russia), a phone call with Ukraine, gone after his real estate business in New York (Letitia James*), hiding top secret documents, inciting an insurrection on Jan 6, indicted his attorneys, indicted for subverting democracy (Jack Smith**),gagged by judges and the swamp rats wonder why he is popular with the serfs across the fruited plain. Lavrentiy Beria is smiling.

* Her entire campaign was "Jail Trump".
** Smith's spouse wrote a glowing biography of Michelle Obama.

The recent Russian offensive started after the Hamas launched their suicidal Holocaust. Coincidence, maybe. Taking advantage of US Navy carrier battle groups steaming into the Eastern Med and Gulf and counting on the transfer of weapons and ammunition from Ukraine and NATO theatre to Israel, definitely.

Today, auditors told Congress as much as *$2.5 trillion* of the $5 trillion the US spent on COVID relief went to China and its allies through fraud.

That's enough to fund the entire Chinese military for 8 years. Keep that in mind when you hear how great our COVID response was.
