I drove from northern Wisconsin to Madison yesterday. It was sunny and the colors were spectacular, especially the northern half of the drive. More muted when I reached the Central Sands, as the season hasn't progressed as much, and the maples and birches were replaced with more oaks. I do the drive a lot and it can get a bit monotonous, but yesterday, WOW!
The fall color is at its peak out here in Spring Green. It seems to me, if I can rely on vague memories, that this is far further into October than the peak would normally be. Quite gorgeous.
For some reason, I'm noticing a lot more shades of purple, plum this year here in Colorado. Also in these photos. Is this some effect of the slow turning or is it just me?
Just enjoyed looking at AA blog posts from 2004. The one from Nov 3, 2004, where AA mentions she was just 3 for 12 in presidential choosing.
I shared this before, but will share again.
In my lifetime following politics from late 70's forward, I most likely (believing that demographics determine destiny) will have only voted/preferred one Presidential candidate who received the most votes.
Here is the list.
1980 Carter - Too young to vote. 1984 Mondale - Too young to vote. 1988 Dukakis - Dukakis was not my cup of tea, but Lloyd sealed the deal for me.. 1992 Perot - Loved that crazy American. This is when I stopped being a D. 1996 Perot - Did not vote. 2000 Bush - Florida about killed me. James Baker for the win! 2004 Bush - Winner winner chicken dinner. 2008 McCain - Did not vote. Would have voted R. 2012 Romney - Did not vote. Would have voted R. 2016 Trump - Did not vote. Would have voted R. 2020 Trump - Did not vote. Would have voted R. 2024 and forward - Will vote R, but I think R's are going the way of the Whigs and will never again win the popular vote.
The fall colors at Gene Coulan Park in Renton, WA are spectacular. There were about a dozen people taking pictures while standing/sitting in the middle of the park access road. One guy had to wait for about a half dozen cars to go by before he could get his pictures from the center turn lane.
It's starting: A Detroit synagogue leader and major Democrat Party insider in Michigan was stabbed to death outside her home today. She wasn't just poked. The murderer stabbed her multiple times. It was hate.
Political Junkie is certainly hooked on something, but it isn't politics. Five abstentions in thirty-four years is not indicative of healthy political principles. From all appearances, PJ's motivating assumption is when the perfect choice isn't available, the worst available choice is acceptable.
The Athenians had a word for citizens who abstained, a word we borrowed into English, idiots.

Beautiful. I always liked the fall. I like the light in fall. It seems like morning all day long.

I've run across a guy making the same arguments about Israel that I was yesterday. Maybe it'll sound a little bit more convincing to y'all coming out of his mouth.
The leaves are green and falling off, but the Habaneros are orange.
Fabulous Fall Fotos. Alliteration > Spelling.
Spectacular!
Speaking of trees, check out this lumberjack.

I like the mottling as patches of leaves turn at different times. Gives a very rich texture.
Anybody here watch Rangers/Astros last night? Sounded pretty exciting. My team lost, darn it!

Oh, so beautiful!
I usually don't mention them but, yes, the photographs are lovely.
Colors here are dry and dusty--few of the reds or purples so far, but it's early.

The Democrat Party is purging the Jews.
Holocaust 2.0 has begun.
Mike of S--maybe the photogs should have identified as climate warriors and made the cars wait.
Holy Cow! What a finish for the Badger football team. Trickeration!
"Here is the list."

The Althousians believe better than abstention is a high bar.
