"On the trail, Ramaswamy’s lexicon often departs from traditional campaign speak and reflects new movements percolating among some on the right. He says that he doesn’t like to use the labels Democrat or Republican, preferring to categorize people as pro or anti-America, or part of 'the managerial class' or 'the everyday citizen.'... Between bites of veggie omelet on the flight, Ramaswamy homed in on where he believes Trump went wrong: 'I think that the number one mistake that Trump made was to push his legislative agenda first.' 'He neither repealed nor replaced Obamacare, because it was a legislative priority,' he said of his current rival for the GOP presidential nomination. 'I’m not going to make that mistake.'"

"... Ramaswamy is pitching himself as something different — the next iteration of Trump, who is at times chummy with his rival.... Billed as 'America First 2.0,' an argument that Trump did not go far enough in passing his policy agenda as president, Ramaswamy’s platform — which leans heavily on executive actions — includes raising the voting age to 25 unless certain requirements are met, ending affirmative action 'in every sphere of American life,' shutting down the FBI, and trimming 75 percent of executive branch employees to reduce the size of the 'administrative state.'... Ramaswamy’s proposals, which he says he wants to enact 'without the permission or forgiveness of Congress,' have been polarizing. For some, it’s part of what they like about him...."

Let's face it--according to WaPoo they are all worse than Trump--including Trump.
How can someone write this drivel during the Biden presidency? Biden has done more to abuse executive power than any other president and is currently being encouraged to tell the executive branch to ignore the Supreme Court.
Vivek may be ok. My biggest concern is whether he can run a government, which is different than a corporation. I’m not a big fan of executive orders to push through unfavorable laws. However, that he says he’ll do it is nothing compared to the fact that many recent Presidents have. The main thing I like is Vivek is addressing the issues, and chatting with people to understand what to address and how. Trump did this well in 2016.
What "extreme proposals" for Trump or the Ramaswamy fellow? Enforce the law? Actually represent the people instead of the Establishment?
The more the Left wields the Trump tar brush the better I like their targets. It certainly helps to identify the true anti-fascists.
Does the WaPoo call him a White Supremacist?
"... push the bounds of presidential authority ...."
WaPo's experts mean only "Republican presidential authority." WaPo's experts will not concede that the bounds of Democrat presidential authority have been reached until the concentration camps are full and the guns confiscated.
"Policies suggested by the 37-year-old political novice lean heavily on executive actions that experts say push the bounds of presidential authority"
You have got to be effing kidding me...
The day I let that piece of toilet paper masquerading as a newspaper sermonize on "executive actions" of anyone but Barry Soetoro is the day I have a tag on my toe. These people have not consistency or self-awareness whatsoever.
Congress screwed Trump, dithering from incompetence and/or malice. Vivek is not wrong to doubt their efficacy.
Here's the attack against Trump the press has craved. It won't count, though, because it's administrative and not personal.

For someone who knows: What can Vivek actually do with Executive Powers? Can he decide that he's not going to allocate the money for the FBI, sorry guys go home? Or that half/90% of the sections of the FBI are not really needed, shutting them down?
Before we discuss whether he should, tell me what he can do.

What's not to like?
Read the article: Not a word on what anything thinks you can actually do with Executive Action. Typical.
"Ramaswamy is pitching himself as something different"
What, no mention of POC diversity? Color only comes in when it serves prog purposes?
Not that it matters, but has there ever been a more diverse group of people competing for a presidential nomination than the GOP candidates today?
I’ll vote for whoever the NYT and WaPo and FBI say they don’t want me to vote for because they hate people like me who live in the small town called America.
"Ramaswamy’s proposals, which he says he wants to enact 'without the permission or forgiveness of Congress,' have been polarizing."
Polarizing? How about brilliant and constitutional?
Vivek is the smartest guy I've ever meet. Hands down.
MSM keeps pretending all the "Republicans Candidates" other than DeSantis and Trump are viable alternatives. There are NOT.
Christie - Unpopular ex-Governor. Last won election 2014. Got 11 percent in NH 2016.
Haley - Small state ex-Governor. Last won election 2014.
Pence - Ex-VP and small state Ex-Governor. Last won election 2016. Hated by Trump supporters.
Hutchinson - Small state obscure Ex-Governor. Last won election 2018
Tim Scott - Obscure Senator from SC. Utterly conventional and dull
THe V-man - Obscure businessman.
All these people have zero chance.
The GOP’s Andrew Yang.
I’ll vote for whoever the NYT and WaPo and FBI say they don’t want me to vote for because they hate people like me who live in the small town called America.
Living in a small town is racist or have you not heard?
This is an historic moment. For the first time since 1972, The Washington Post has ventured the notion of limited presidential authority.
Congratulations, Ann and Meade! Wisconsin's governor, Tony Evers, more unpopular than our Washington governor, Jay "The climate bomb is exploding" Inslee. They both have 51% approval rating, but Tony beats out Jay by 1% in disapproval, 44% vs. 43%, respectively. They occupy the 46th & 47th position for most popular governor. Only Tate Reeves (R-MS), Katie Hobbs (D-AZ) and Tina Kotek (D-OR) are more unpopular.
People holding themselves out as candidates for high office should be better informed about the powers and duties of that office. In the domestic sphere, which seems to be what VR is talking about, the President's primary duty is to see that the laws are faithfully executed. So, if he wants radical change in, e.g., the voting age or the reach of the federal bureaucracy, he'll need Congressional approval. Bombastic BS like he's offering is an insult to the intelligence of the voters. But, evidently, asking for even that slight modicum of seriousness is no longer of interest to voters anymore.
No thanks. I like a lot of his ideas, but process matters. I will not vote for any candidate that promises to pass laws through executive order. To all the people crying "Oh but Obaaaaama." Exactly! Why do you want your own version? Is it that you don't actually hate tyranny it's just that you want a better tyrant? Madness.
Also, interested in the plan to repeal the 26th Amendment. Not opposed to it at all.
Right now, I think Vivek is running for VP and could well make it. DeSantis is better as governor of FL.
With respect to Ramaswamy’s rhetoric, I’d be more inclined to support him if he had had some experience holding an elected office. It probably looks really easy from outside the arena.
I'd have to question whether the listed proposals are actually his platform. If they are then he is either a nut job or a bullshitter. It's more likely the Post is misrepresenting his positions.
Unilaterally raise the voting age? We are still (barely) a constitutional republic. Trimming 75 percent of executive branch employees? Maybe 25 but 75 is just not a realistic proposal.
Yeah, probably the BS is coming from the Post. Otherwise this guy and his supporters should quit wasting our time.

"... that piece of toilet paper masquerading as a newspaper..."
Hey! Just because it was assigned "toilet paper" at birth by the Plant Engineer doesn't mean that that designation aligns with its lived experiences. For example, as fish wrap or unplanned house decorations.
"Ramaswamy is pitching himself as something different"
A much better approach from a private enterpriser than "I'll run the government like a business".
As Russel Ackoff pointed out, "The righter we do the wrong thing, the wronger we become."
A more efficient destroyer of our liberties we do not need.
Darn, I found him interesting, but regardless of how I feel about any of the particulars, I won't support more usurpation of Congress with executive orders. Of course, I also can't trust the Washington Post that this will be anymore than Obama and Biden have done . . .
Plus, if the executive order takes action within the executive branch that is very different than doing something clearly defined as a congressional power like approving a treaty. So much less concerning when that's considered . . .
"What's not to like?"
To someone eager to become a minion to a overlord, nothing! To any citizen who wishes to retain even a vestige of influence over governance in this purportedly representational democratic republic, everything!
Polarizing? How about brilliant and constitutional?
How is raising the voting age to 25 constitutional? It's like Trump saying he is going to end birthright citizenship, clearly unconstitutional absent a tortured reading of the fourteenth amendment. I would like to see how you can torture the 26th to justify raising the voting age to 25 (unless "certain conditions" are met, which also raises equal protection issues).
Vivek is the smartest guy you ever met?! You must hang out with a bunch of dipshits.
Go Vivek!!!
I like getting rid of the FBI. It should not be hard to do since it doesn't have any legal existence. Congress never passed legislation establishing it.
They were pretty vigorously against the idea back in 1908
I don't think it was even established by formal executive order. It was just something Roosevelt and Bonaparte cooked up.
If so, it should not be that hard to uncook it.
John Henry
Would it not require an amendment to raise the voting age to 25?
26A:
Section 1. The right of citizens of the United States, who are eighteen years of age or older, to vote shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any State on account of age.
Not saying it would be a bad idea. A25 year old is more likely to have skin in the game.
But if he thinks it can be done other than by amendment, I question his competency.
And even if he could get an amendment passed, could it prevent states from letting 18 year Olds vote? Or even 12 year Olds.
Lots of other issues for him to worry about. Voting age should be way down his list of priorities.

We get it. You, along with Joe Biden still think Hunter is the smartest guy ever. Talk about a DIPSHIT.
Ramaswamy is doing everything right to position himself as vp. But he better get ready to do a better job than some of this horseshit. When he starts getting noticed, he needs to be ready to reassure the working class and the Trump supporters that he is actually going to do something about jobs, the border, and drugs.
And if he walks through that door at Club for Growth, he's going to have a hard time.
If he denounced them today, I'd join his campaign.
"COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — Republican presidential hopeful Vivek Ramaswamy on Thursday voiced support for changing the overall U.S. voting age to 25, unless younger Americans fulfill at least six months of service in the military or as a first responder — or pass the same citizenship test administered to those seeking to become naturalized citizens."
Currently not mentioned on his campaign website, this being the relevant section:
"Revive American National Identity
Use the military, including drones, to secure our southern border
End affirmative action: repeal Lyndon Johnson’s executive order 11246
Protect American children: ban addictive social media under age 16 & gender confusion “care” for minors
Make political expression a civil right & end unlawful DEI indoctrination
Withhold federal funding for cities that refuse to protect Americans from violent crime"
How about making that test a requirement for high school graduation?
I'm not a big fan of all the "You're legally an adult now except for..."
