Wrote Elliot Page, quoted in "Elliot Page Says He Was 'Groomed' As a Teen" (NY Magazine).
१४ जून, २०२३
"As puberty transmuted me into a character I had no interest in playing, my isolation, insecurity, and unknowing grew."
"I desperately needed to anchor myself. In new cities, with no friends, alone in hotel rooms, it was not hard for someone to prey. I’m sure they sense that."

I've been assured by my betters that NEVER happens...
I tried to read it. I was getting mixed up by pronouns. Referring to his earlier life, when he was a she, they still used the pronoun 'he', which made no sense because we all know those directors, et al, were hot for her, not for him. (others would be hot for him later on). Confusing. The entire movement is confusing/confused.
I wish him well. I liked her once upon a time, in a movie I've forgotten about. But she was good in it. Back then.
As puberty transmuted me into a an insecure and isolated character, my mom told me I needed to get out of myself. She volunteered me as a candy striper at the local convalescent home and I was too bone tired every night to entertain silly existential hypotheticals.
I believe most transgenders were. I also believe most Pedophiles were too.
Elliot Page's career arose with super odd roles such as "Hard Candy" -- with a youth mature beyond her years. Think of the teenage vampire in Interview with a Vampire. Page was plainly weird/uncommon/abnormal from an early age, and this resulted in a film career.
Hard Candy (2005): https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0424136/
This is post-hoc rationalization by someone who was destined for an atypical life. Groomers are real. See the lawsuits against the Catholic Church and Boy Scouts. See the story of Greg Louganis.
A slow roll of transgendered persons to self-awareness is in progress. It's not going to be pretty or happy for most.
Nobody likes puberty.
I read an excerpt about Elliot's transitioning, and how Ellen thought as an adult.."Maybe I'm trans" and then transitioned. So I don't understand why, if Ellen didn't think she was trans until she was an adult, the rest of us are supposed to revise history and imagine that Ellen was always Elliot and historically must be referred to as "he". Can't it be enough to call him "he" and "Elliot" now? If there was a time before Elliot that even Ellen didn't think she was him?
Hip hooray for Caroline’s mother. I was wondering where Elliot’s mom was during his confusion.
Is it any wonder Hollywood is progressive.
That "puberty transformed me into a character I had no interest in playing" is awfully telling, isn't it? It's presented in theatrical terms - playing a character - but isn't this a reasonable explanation for the present teen trans hysteria?
This plus the post on cosmetic surgery provide an entire rationale and framework for what we're seeing in such distressing numbers among kids.
Well, well, well. What have we here?
Really needs some mental help. It is sad that she is now just another groomer herself.
Caroline that made my day.
Temujin
She is still a she. Despite what she pretends to be. The truly sad thing is that the people that should have been guiding her through that awkward period of her life failed her. And failed her in a most grotesque way.
Elliot's moment in the sun, celebrating his confusion and uncorroborated sexual assaults which he calls "grooming."
There is a word that strikes terror into any gender-bending progressive. The word is banned from any conversations, and is almost guaranteed to incite a rage response, if used in context.
'Approximation'. Ellen Page is not a man - she is a surgical approximation of one, with a lifetime maintenance program to sustain it. She has been sexually abused as a child, by adults, and this is the result of that abuse. Mental illness, followed by self-harm. I really hope she has, or gets, the best help she can afford and I wish her the best for happiness and a good life.
Now - let's talk about those adults.
Have not read the book. Liked this person as an actress. Does Page name the people who did this? If not, why not?
I don't think Elliott's acting career is going to be anywhere near as successful as Ellen's was. Both of them are 5'2". If they do a pre-quil to The Godfather, maybe Fredo in the John Cazale part.
so He/she was raped. That's what I read. Rape.
Sex without consent is rape. but at least Page got his/her paychecks out of the deal.
Alone in hotel rooms when she was younger than 18? Where the hell were her parents?
Our youngest daughter started getting some modelling gigs when she was 15 y.o. She started doing shows at 16. There are ALWAYS young male photographers (25-35?) passing out their cards at these shows to the young girls, saying they would like to do a shoot with them.
We have allowed her some shoots with these photographers - after confirming with people we know in the industry that they were legit, AND with one parent going on the shoot!
Some of these guys (for which we couldn't get a confirmation) sent my "Papa Bear" radar off the charts.
I wouldn't let any of my children (of either gender) EVER be alone with Hollywood types!
Aren't we supposed to be celebrating its empowerment and self-realization or something?
For many people, life seems to hand them a raw deal if they compare themselves to the tops of any category. If you compare your looks to Jolie or Pitt, you might be found wanting. If you compare your income to Bezos or Munger, you may be found wanting. If you compare your intelligence to Einstein or Hawking, you might feel inadequate. If you compare your athletic prowess to Lebron or Jordan you might feel incompetent. When you do this as a pre-teen or early teen you might find that you fail to measure up in almost any category. Your sense of self-worth is tied to things you cannot control. And face it, even among your peers you might compare disfavorably along many supposedly important metrics. Eventually most of us come to accept our defects and work with what we have been given.
My oldest just walked to stage to get her diploma. A person born with a birth defect that gives her very poor eyesight, making it hard for her to compete academically. She can't be excellent at sports and she has to avoid too much direct sunlight. After the graduation she took pictures with all her friends from school. In one picture she is next to another girl who was wearing more tassels than I could easily count while my daughter had none, yet my daughter was grinning from ear to ear. I am as proud of that as I am the diploma.
Most of us play a role different than the one we might wish to play. We didn't got to pick any of our genetic attributes. Teach the young ones character and humility and grace - to be what they are with all integrity. That is where their value lies. Chasing after ephemeral things will never fill that chasm in their soul.
A troubled youth was left unprotected by those whose jobs it was to protect her and she was preyed upon by monsters who use the glamour of Hollywood to pressure and manipulate vulnerable young people, especially girls.
Instead of getting the help she needed, she was left to her own devices and responded by turning her anger, confusion, and hurt in on herself; finally medically mutilating herself.
A story almost as sad as Michael Jackson's.
One the most annoying people of all time. Was only in 3 good movies
I feel sympathy for Page. Children are very malleable- if you don't set the gender norms for your children someone else will do it for you. Those someones today pushing transgenderism to teens and pre-teens, and even to toddlers are grooming those children, and they aren't doing for the well-being of those children.
Elliot's mom was spending the money she made, that's where she was. She was that mom in the Godfather leading the crying little girl away from movie producer's house.
You need a Hollywood Groomers tag.
"This person (who raped me) would go on to become a director, Page says."
WHAT'S HIS GD NAME!? Do another girl/woman a favor!
"Is it any wonder Hollywood is progressive."
Hollywood is full of lbgtq pedos and always has been..just read the Scotty Bowers memoir. Lmao
When he was a she, he was an accomplished actress who appeared in several good films. His past story doesn't sound super traumatic, but he's probably got more nerve endings than the average person so maybe it was.... I've had some female friends who underwent worse abuse but didn't give up on men or on being a woman. I don't think he's destined for a happy life, but he'll have sufficient resources to dodge some of the potholes if not the abyss....I wish him luck. Every life is a unique experiment
Rape or rape-rape? She was groomed in a socially liberal climate. Shades of Biden, perhaps.
the lawsuits against the Catholic Church and Boy Scouts
Trans/homosexual males in positions of authority grooming boys. Under Critical Diversity Theory (CDT), a veritable gay parade.
Sad lost person who needs God.
That’s probably the least surprising headline I’ve read this week.
I find it utterly depressing how many people support and encourage this mental illness. They no doubt applaud themselves for their "compassion".
So, a young, vulnerable, possibly lesbian adolescent going through puberty was molested and raped by both men and women. This led to gender confusion, self-hatred, and self-harm. But instead of naming and prosecuting the sex criminals involved, we go down this trans rabbit hole instead. In the past, any other young female rape victim who started cutting herself or becoming anorexic as a result of her assault would have been evaluated and treated for the mental illness/PTSD she was suffering.
Now, instead of treating the mental distress and working to stop the self-harm, we simply cut off healthy breasts, hand out a lifelong regiment of hormones, and tell her she doesn't have to be a girl anymore. Like her femaleness was the problem, not that she was surrounded by an industry filled with filthy but protected perverts.
Wow! That's some solution!
Maybe, in a perfect world, Page would actually name these abusers and possibly keep them from doing it again to their next victim instead of using these horrors to sell a book. It would also be nice if we didn't have a whole propaganda machine at work selling teens on the idea that the escape hatch from whatever unhappiness is troubling them today is through pharmaceuticals and permanent body alteration. But hey, it comes with a colorful flag and all the corporations are celebrating it, so it must be the solution, right?
What regrets? There will be no regrets. Everyone feels in their 30s, 40, and 50s exactly the same way they felt when they were 15. And maybe those physical scars will blot out all those untreated emotional scars left behind by various abusers. We really have redefined self-harm, haven't we? I guess some cuts are more equal than others.
Caroline I hope you have told your mother how grateful you are for her intervention.
And in all honesty I could give a rat’s ass about Ellen Page’s issues.
A very young woman did not like the unwanted and highly inappropriate attention she received from certain adult men, including sexual assault and possibly rape. It is no surprise this would be traumatic. She responded by altering her body years later to make herself unattractive to people like that. That doesn't mean she always was a man.
Coming to a school near you.
"The entire movement is confusing/confused."
That's the point. The goal is to create unresolvable political conflict as a means of pissing off the opposition. And it's not unique to any political party. Simply put, we are living in The Age of Antagonism.
"Nobody likes puberty."
Pederasts do.
"and this is the result of that abuse. Mental illness, followed by self-harm"
Excellent theory. I worked with girls who cut for similar reasons, which makes me wonder if Page (not Ellen f Elliot, just Page) was a cutter in junior high. Is gender affirmation surgery really just the cutter's pinnacle?
Why is Hollywood the only industry where kids and women get molested but continue stay in said industry and refuse to name names. Is it just because of the money?
Juno was good. She should pay more attention the scripts.
Uh oh. Page is claiming she was groomed...by lefties.
I've been told that's all one big fat deplorable lie pushed by white supremacist republican russian asset spies only.
Welcome to the club Ms Page.
Raped? Name the director, or it didn't happen.
He is definitely not doing a good job of conforming to the gender Republicans would force him to be.
We should all do a better job of attending Republican sexual re-education camps, since they are so good at bossing people around. That’s what liberty is all about.
Do you know how much work Republicans put into deciding the course of other people’s lives for them? They are really good at it and get no appreciation at all.
I liked Ellen Page in Inception, which was a great movie. A bit too clever for it's own good, but it was entertaining, and even a little profound. I remember thinking that Page was an excellent actress. I don't recall seeing her in anything else.
Now, when you look up the cast of Inception online, the various websites call her/him "Elliot." But when he/she played the role, she was a she, named "Ellen." Probably I'm guilty of "deadnaming" her/him. But how do you rewrite the past? Ellen Page starred in Inception.
I think that she is a she. I'm very sorry for whatever she suffered in Hollywood. I wish she would visit an attorney, to see if she can press criminal charges. I wish she would publicly name every person that groomed or abused her, so more Weinstein-figures could be humiliated.
But she also needs a therapist, and a support group. Instead she chose irreversible surgery, and is probably influencing at least a few young people to do the same.
She is a tragic figure. She will always be a she. And if she ever regrets her decision, she won't be able to change the consequences. She is a warning of what not to do, or be. She is not a hero, or a role model to be emulated. I hope she can find peace one day. In the meanytime, I will never call her a "he," because that would be lying.

An illegal alien, a woman with a front hole, her underage daughter in shared space, raped, and the "burden" of evidence aborted, sequestered, censored in a sanctuary State. A handmade tale unrealized.
Mental illness is never attractive. She needs better therapy.

In California they're trying to make it illegal for parents to do this:

Imagine Michael Kennedy’s dismay at finding out that Page does not live his/her life for the purpose of being found attractive by an elderly old creepy sheltered regressive man. What a fantastic sense of privilege.
The retrogrades taking out their wish to control Page’s life by advocating different or better therapy remind me of the weirdos who used to (and still) advocate for conversion therapy of gays. They really don’t see their desire to control someone else’s sexuality as bizarre or unusual. Anyone advocating to control the sexual lives or identities of others should be castrated or spayed - if they think other people’s sexual well-being doesn’t matter then clearly their own shouldn’t either.
Groomers like hpuddinghead get upset when you call them out.
Actress seduced and fucked. Startling.
Raped? Name the director, or it didn't happen.
That's the problem, isn't it? What used to be called the casting couch, said with a wink and a chortle, has been part of Hollywood for so long that (ISTM) once you enter that world, you are seen to have given implied consent for whatever is done to you. So - I would guess especially if you're young - you don't keep evidence, you don't go to the police, because, you know, at first what was done to you or what you had to do wasn't that bad, was it, and thereafter you were known to the abusers to be a whore (note that I'm saying the abusers thought this, not I) and no longer had grounds to refuse.
So now, years later, it's Me Too time, and you want to name names, but your career is STILL on the line AND you have no proof. Maybe you warn other young performers on the down low - but if you go public, you're sued for defamation and you'll never eat lunch in this town again, as the book said.
Some may be making false claims for publicity. But I'm sure a lot aren't; they're just between a rock and a hard place.
I think Meryl Streep and others like her are evil, though, for having f-you money and fame and still not naming names.
The real scandal is that underage child was alone with adult in WORK situation and as adult does not feel confidence in naming adults who attacked her.
How does defamation law work? Why can't anyone allege facts? The accused can allege alternate facts but why does government get to help the accused by allowing defamation suit in absence of corroboration besides testimony of either accused or accuser?
She was groomed.
Where did I put my shocked face?
"Name the director, or it didn't happen."
This is a convenient way to comfort yourself.
Do you really not see any reasons why someone with a true story to tell would not say the name?
I can see why so many people are taking refuge in this presumption, but if you won't acknowledge that you see why someone would suppress the name, you fall within my presumption that you are ignorant.
I’m happy to call her Elliot, people change their names all the time. I’m not going to call her he/him, because whatever she chooses for her name, she’s still not a man.
Sure, I can see why she wouldn’t want to name her alleged rapist, she still wants acting gigs, and exposing him/her to prevent others from the same fate and trying to make sure there are consequences won’t help do that, if the rapist thinks she might expose them it might even help. Nice little producer job you got there, be a shame if anything happened to it. That she chooses not to name the rapist doesn’t mean it didn’t happen.
Mental illness is heartbreaking.
I can see why so many people are taking refuge in this presumption, but if you won't acknowledge that you see why someone would suppress the name, you fall within my presumption that you are ignorant.
It doesn't seem to me to take a lot of imagination to think of reasons why, when your livelihood depends on not pissing off - indeed, possibly even affirmatively pleasing - the right people, you might reluctantly choose to go along to get along, even with something like this. After all, as I said above, it would be a VERY naive actor who would get into film or tv without realizing there's a quid pro quo for the young and attractive. It's dead wrong but it's a fact.
"I can see why so many people are taking refuge in this presumption, but if you won't acknowledge that you see why someone would suppress the name, you fall within my presumption that you are ignorant."
A feminist confirms what is known of feminists: They are rape-adjacent.
There are a whole lot of reasons to suppress the name, none of them good. Feminists such as Page and Althouse are perfectly happy that other women will be raped.
