Helpful tip to people out there. If you don't like the way Althouse runs her comments, if you think she is disingenuous, if you think she suppresses comments she disagrees with, first let me say that you lack reasoning skills.
Second, I like Althouse comments; it is the only place I comment with regularity and the general commentariat is worth reading. I would appreciate if you did not ruin it by being an ass.
Now, if you don't like her or her moderation, go away, for your own sanity. She does not have to do this and there is no benefit to any one for all your bitching and moaning.
Seconding Wa St Blogger. Anyone who objects to the way the place is run can stop reading anytime. Not the only place I comment, but one of the few. Ms. A and I disagree on a lot of things, but we could have a civil discussion and remain friends. Althouse is her house; she allows guests to disagree and argue to keep the place interesting. We are approx same age and both of us are former liberals who are, to different degrees, red-pilled (me way more than her). There was a month of so when she disallowed comments a while back; I visited much less during that time. I was happy to return when she resumed her moderated comment policy. So, thank you Ann Althouse for allowing us to stay and raise a (civil) ruckus in your place.

I appreciate Althouse’s moderation. Holding the comments until they’ve been read is wise. The comments section has improved since she’s been doing this. I can only imagine the vile comments Althouse doesn’t publish. As for accusations of censorship because someone writes something negative about her, it doesn’t make sense when I have seen and continue to see some pretty vicious comments directed toward her she actually publishes. One has to give her a great deal of credit for doing this.
I think I have an addiction to Korean action in TV/films (martial arts and knife fights) in addition to historical Kdrama and samurai swordfights. After a few weeks of not consuming such entertainment, I begin to desperately crave the sound of a sword being drawn and the sight of one lone fighter staring down a hallway filled with 10 guys ready to go at it.
Earlier I said: I remember Althouse temporarily lifting the comment moderations do to the extraordinary circumstances of that one post.
I thought it might've been the overturning of Roe decision. It wasn't that. I can't think of anything more important to Althouse than the overturning of Roe. But I standby my recollection that something momentous happened and Althouse lifted the comment restrictions for that one post.
It turns out that the Murdaugh murders are connected to the Hart County towns Munfordville and Horse Cave. Maggie Murdaugh’s mother Kennedy “Ken” Hubbard, graduated from Munfordville High School in 1962, and her father Terry Branstetter was a 1962 Caverna Graduate. I went to Munfordville High School a half of a year in 1962 before I joined the Air Force. I remember her, she was beautiful though I didn't know her personally. I was in the class behind her with her younger brother John Hubbard.
"Now, if you don't like her or her moderation, go away, for your own sanity. She does not have to do this and there is no benefit to any one for all your bitching and moaning."
Yep. I'm always amazed at what weirdos some people are. This isn't the only blog on the internet. Don't like it? Go somewhere else.
Singleton’s team, UCLA, blocked a shot. Singleton then made a 3 point basket which put an end to the opponent’s attempt at a comeback. Just as sticking a dagger in someone puts an end to whatever they are doing.
Just to be clear.. When Hilary committed campaign finance crimes, she got a slap on the wrists When Trump DIDN'T commit campaign finance crimes, he'll go to jail When Biden accepted bribes from the Ukrainians, Trump got impeached When Biden threw an election, Trump got impeached
Hell of a country y'all got there.. Please tell me, again? Why should i be rooting for US over russia? We seem to be sh*ttier than them.. At least russia Admits that they are corrupt
Exciting Followup Question.. Who is going to sign up to be in Biden's Army now? Will white boys keep signing up? to die for Raytheon? Will black "trans people" START to sign up? to die for Raytheon? What about the illegal invaders from south america? will THEY sign up? to die for Raytheon?
Gibbon, in his Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire, said that The Big reasons WHY were: Inflation Corruption and, Most Important of All Roman boys quit joining the Roman Legions..
Final Question.. Which people were more disgustingly disgustingly disgusting? the Roman Empire? or America the Beautiful?
The idea of a non volunteering army (or any branch) is very interesting to me now. All “Males” age 18 must sign up for the selective service i.e. the draft. Are trans men being forced to register? How about trans women who haven’t undergone surgery. If Biden decides to have a hot war and not enough young people want to play what will the government do?
I umpired Adam Wainwright in the state playoffs his junior and senior years. He looks like he’s gained a hundred pounds since then. USA and Cuba in Miami. How awesome is that!
I’m continually asked by a Trump badger: do you still think the election was stolen?
Pretty damned soon- they’re all going to be saying the elects was stolen. I mean, things are going great, right? Aggression in the Black Sea, run on banks, food prices on a continual incline…. What’s not to be proud of??!
The reason I keep coming back to Althouse blog is that it has not become an "echo chamber" like so many other blogs, like Gateway Pundit, where everyone has to engage in group think. (Star Trek reference to the Borg -- you will be assimilated.) It is not dominated by Trump supporters and misogynists, although they are certainly here, and they do try to control the narrative and berate our host, though unsuccessfully, thankfully, and they do ridicule anyone who dares to disagree with them. But here we get viewpoints from the New York Times, the Washington Post, the Wall Street Journal, the Atlantic, the New Yorker, as well as from numerous conservative outlets. And we discuss them, even when we disagree with one another. That is healthy. I hope it doesn't change.
Between 1997 and 2017, the Congressional Office of Compliance paid out $17 million to settle 268 sexual harassment complaints against members of Congress. I have absolutely no doubt that at least some of them were against Democrats and Rinos who feign outrage at Trump’s behavior. https://www.cnn.com/2017/11/16/politics/settlements-congress-sexual-harassment/index.html

I've criticized her in pretty blunt terms, and she always lets the comment go through (although she once said she thought I may be a troll). She also publishes comments that have to be, in her terms, unambiguously racist, sexist, "homophobic," and the like. She doesn't deserve criticism for her moderation policy, as far as I can tell.
Wish she engaged more directly with disagreement about this stuff, but it's hard to expect someone not just to let you talk on her site, but to answer you, too.

I understood "David Singleton." I'm pretty sure that's the name of a player.
Oh, and very nice sunrise photos. Thank you.

In truth, the usual high standard of photos--which I miss when the Prof's weather is bad.
Also, what Wa St Blogger said. Pretty much.

Well told.
Hi Folks! Been a while since I last stopped by. Glad to see some familiar faces!
We’ve done so much selective outrage, I’m getting the impression we don’t do any other kind now.
Trump made this whole story up. He was never going to be arrested. How pathetic.

BTW. To say Trump's arrest is a banana republic move is an insult to banana republics.
Not all banana republic political candidates are subject to arrest.
If the Biden administration only meant news of Trump's imminent arrest as a trial balloon.
Today, they have their answer.
If it's Trump, is ok. It's a one-off.
Anybody else, there's principal and stuff at stake.
Anybody else, we have to sleep on it. What's the rush?

This is the 'talk about anything' thread, right?
If nothing tells you how political this arrest Trump business is...
The national trend is not arresting people for things like robbery... and other hitherto stuff people would just not look the other way.
But that Trump, that's something else entirely.
It's a good thing Wikipedia has a list of people rotting away in jail for campaign finance violations.
I don't know if I'm repeating stuff others have said. If it's annoying, I'm sorry.

End of the first period, Wisconsin leads 1-0.
We, Althouse commenters can't be perceived as "defending" Trump.
To "defend Trump", to oppose his arrest, is like being "anti-vaxxer".
If there is such a thing as the "new normal", that is it. It just dawned on me now.
I'm not defined by nuanced argument; I'm either with them on everything or against them on everything.
Nuance is a control insurrectionist.

What an incredible waste of taxpayer money. If you women would just cooperate more.
Or maybe it was the boys.
Russia Collusion Truther and Hillary/FBI Hoax Dossier Dead Ender Inga: "I can only imagine the vile comments Althouse doesn’t publish."
Quite true, particularly when one considers the posts Althouse does allow thru, like the time Inga cursed Althouse.
Yep, we need lots more "insight" and hot takes from Inga about this subject.
