"Woody Harrelson hosted Saturday Night Live and used his opening monologue to criticize Big Pharma's response to COVID-19."

That's a pretty good description of what happened.

SNL had some people get in a few zingers over the years- that guy who said ‘tastes like shit’ or playing the wring sip sync music and stuff but that was back when live was live. Maybe the people in the control room didn’t have enough time to sensor the whole opening monologue?

…or maybe polling says they can’t overcome with the fraud machine…

Did you miss the part where they used exactly the same phrase to belittle Harrelson for saying they coordinate?

paminwi म्हणाले...

Good thing is the media can go nuts but more and more people will ignore their wailing.
Me? I will be smiling at their whining.

tim maguire म्हणाले...

Oops, sorry, Mike. I see now there is another interpretation of your comment—and that other one is probably what you meant.

I work in big pharma, help support Vaccine development, and took the COVID-19 vaccine myself (Pfizer's in my case).

And I think Woody Harrelson's joke is pretty spot on. Media, public health officials, and big pharma all marched in lockstep and decided no critical thinking or skepticism was allowed.

The funny thing is they don't realize that their own attitudes and actions are why the Covid-19 Vax rate is so low in America. Who trusts people who act like they do?

rehajm म्हणाले...

He kind of gets the economics wrong- don’t you all? The drug companies didn’t really buy the politicians, the rules allowed the politicians to take an equity stake in the consequences of the politicians forcing everyone to consume the drug company’s products.

A subtle difference, I know. But still…

rhhardin म्हणाले...

He was a lot wittier ad libbing the outtakes of The Edge of Seventeen (2016), doing the classroom chat with Hailee Steinfeld over her proposed suicide note.

What happened with the vax was that a good idea acquired hangers-on and rent seekers.

it was interesting, that the audience didn't laugh once.. Just Stunned HORROR at the heresy

gilbar म्हणाले...

i wonder what the actual opening monologue script was? It Sure wasn't That. Of course that was only 27 seconds.. By the time the censors realized what he was talking about; it was over.

mezzrow म्हणाले...

Hmmm...

Woody Harrelson, early adopter or troglodyte? Only time will tell.
Is the world going to believe the media, or their own lying eyes? At least the special slice of the world that still watches SNL, anyway.

I was rewatching my recording of last night's Purdue - IU game. Had to see it twice to believe that second half actually happened.

Wondering how many media outlets will offer a reasoned rebuttal to what Harrelson said, as opposed to indignant name calling.

That was a joke, of course.

I watched the whole opening monologue on YouTube. The audience did not appreciate the drug company joke. As one would expect from an SNL audience.

I'm just noting that Woody is a stereotypical goofy California actor. He's big into Mary Jane and even sells the stuff:

https://www.forbes.com/sites/lindseybartlett/2022/05/16/woody-harrelson-talks-cannabis-at-the-woods-dispensary-opening/?sh=530d06a95c45

If they can't keep Woody on message, what's next? Will Hollywood start to criticize the government? Bidenism becomes the new McCarthyism? All the recent garbage is described as Bidengate? A shocking drama and/or advocacy documentary against Biden?

The left eats its own and left-wing movements always end in disagreement.

William म्हणाले...

At the end of WWI, there were those who claimed the Great War was the result of armament manufacturers' efforts to gin up demand for their products.....Does Woody claim that China handled the outbreak better? I don't think there was any grubby profit motive involved in their lock downs.....Our response to plagues has always been to burn the witches. There is some disagreement as to who the real witches are, but we are all agreed that it's important to burn the witches. Some people want to burn Joe Rogan for taking ivermectin and others want to burn Fauci or pro mask fanatics. I propose a national day of reconciliation where each side gets to burn five of their favorite witches. Make it non-partisan and have the witches chosen partially by lot and partially by the democratic process. Some efforts should be made to see that Jews and women are not disproportionately represented during the witch burnings and that small children not be allowed to view the burnings. It is important, however, that these witch burnings take place. Only in that way can we move forward together.

Humperdink म्हणाले...

Not surprising there were no audible laughs, they were all double masked.

Dear corrupt left, go F yourselves म्हणाले...

later in the show- the on-air talent didn't mock Crook Biden - oh no no no, never.
Instead they mocked Trump. The ex-president.
Then the audience laughed again. arf arf arf...

Why can't a conspiracy theorist be interpreted as someone who is trying to make sense of something that doesn't make sense to him or her?

Someone trying to make sense of something used to be a good thing, could even be called a scientist, before science became the spokesperson for the elite. Oops. I did it again.

Yancey Ward म्हणाले...

Woody Harrelson's last public performance.

MadTownGuy म्हणाले...

I think Woody has it backwards. Big Pharma has been held in thrall by the powers that be, as they exploited the COVID crisis as a way to game the electoral process. Some Pharma companies were then given an opportunity to profit from the vaccine and antiviral medications, and competition from lower priced medications like HCQ and ivermectin was (and still is being) effectively stifled by state boards of pharmacy and the medical establishment.

boatbuilder म्हणाले...

Lem: "Why can't a conspiracy theorist be interpreted as someone who is trying to make sense of something that doesn't make sense to him or her?"

Those people used to be known as "comedians," and if they were "controversial" or "thought-provoking" they were sometimes permitted to appear on SNL and other late-night "comedy" shows to say provocative things.

I don't see how Woody could possibly fulfill those qualifications. So he's obviously a "conspiracy theorist."

Whether it was cross-immunity (i.e. common antigenic features), naturally developed immunity, or a first layer (e.g. mucosal) of defense, from the Diamond Prince forward, most people, including the elderly, and especially young boys and girls, were never at risk, and were denied informed consent and choice with forward-looking unknown, preexisting, and coexisting collateral damage. That said, nutritional deficiencies (e.g. Vitamin-D), sequestered circulations, masks, vaxxxines, and comorbidities (e.g. fat is beautiful, healthy at any weight) were first-order anthropogenic forcings of disease progression.

Dear corrupt left, go F yourselves म्हणाले...

Jimmy म्हणाले...

why the hell would the audience laugh. They like many leftists, are perhaps realizing what totalitarian rule is like, and what it turns people into.
I was forcibly removed from the beach for not wearing a mask, almost arrested. They made me wear, or tried too, a mask at the county dump. I've been told, in whole foods parking lot, that they hoped I would get covid and die.
you liberal asshats proved, at least to the rest of us, that Orwell was always right. People can be propagandized into hating other people so easily.
Ironic isn't it. Now most covid cases are the vaccinated. Heart problems, miscarriages, etc etc.
So the self righteous bimbos didn't laugh-I hope they realize what is coming.
Most of us refuse to forgive and forget people who wanted us dead because we refused to become robots for totalitarian punks.
I don't take pleasure in their current, and future health problems, especially their kids coming problems.
I feel sad that most liberals proved to be stupid vapid sheep, willing to hurt others to build their own weak stupid egos.
civil war? Those who bent over when ordered, wished death and suffering on others, or those who gave a middle finger, regardless of consequences, to those would be tyrants.
It showed clearly who is on what side, who can be trusted, and who is willing to whore out their honor and integrity to be part of the 'in' crowd.
Those people were and are, beneath contempt.

The U.S. Energy Department has concluded that the Covid pandemic most likely arose from a laboratory leak, according to a classified intelligence report recently provided to the White House and key members of Congress.

What a Surprise!! What we ALL Knew Happened.. Is Now, thought to have happened

Beaver7216 म्हणाले...

That is not what happened. Blame big pharma if you want but I blame big media, not those small 4 shown here, but NYT, Washington Post, ABC, NBC,CBS,FOX, etc. And I blame politicians who imposed those rules. Politicians have power and can regulate big Pharma. Bezos has to bow to big Pharma? And then there's CIA, FBI, NIH, Congress, White House, etc.
To a point, big Pharma is supposed to support shareholder interests. Naive to blame corporations for doing what corporations do.

So here's a FUN THOUGHT PUZZLE! Imagine you saw a morbidly obese person* in the grocery store parking lot;
And you told them you hoped they'd get covid and die.

Not fair, you say? Because WHY?
Those fat pigs were HOGGING our medical resources (to say NOTHING of our Food resources!).
If those fat pigs would have JUST SKIPPED their large fries and cokes; Our hospitals wouldn't have been overloaded.

The us and new zealand are the only countries that allows marketing of prescription drugs to the general public

This has allowed the drug companies to control the media. Something like 50%of TV revenue comes from drug companies.

Pfizer: hey ABC, we didn't like that critical piece about the kung flu "vaccine". We'll cut our ad budget. Or shift some from ABC to cbs"

I doubt it is as explicit as that. It hardly needs to be, does it?

We need to make consumer marketing of prescription drugs illegal for this and other reasons.

John Henry

John henry म्हणाले...

It could also work the other way:

CBS: "gee Pfizer. Nice product you've got there
Be a real shame if some network started running stories about serious side effects."

John henry म्हणाले...

Politicians won't do anything because they are too dependent on good news coverage. Think what CBS et al could do to any pol that threatened their cash cow.

President Trump had a perfect opportunity. He should have just decided "fuck it, the media can't be any more against me, I'm issuing an executive order"

"left-wing movements always end in disagreement"

Those that acquire actual power tend to end up at the killing fields, not mere disagreement.

Original Mike म्हणाले...

I simply meant in by comment that Pharma companies give a lot of money to politicians (aka lobbying) and media (aka advertising) and politicians and the media worked to keep people (figuratively) locked in their homes if they didn't take the Pharma companies drugs.

Putting aside motive, aren't those accurate statements?

n.n म्हणाले...

It was a disservice to conflate shots (e.g. seasonal flu) and vaccines (i.e. sterilizing, safety profiled). It was incongruous to advocate, intimidate, force their distribution.

"Big pharma" deserves props for designing a vaccine in pretty short order. It's truly tragic that the benefits were so oversold. I don't know if the blame for that can be laid at the doorstep of the CDC and other agencies, or of the drug companies themselves.
I submitted to the initial dose, but not to any supplemental doses. I'm pretty healthy and I'm retired. The vaccine mandates were absolutely unconscionable. I can only hope that there's a tsunami of (successful) wrongful termination cases brought.

Bullshit. If you tracked the corners cut, critical data points (efficacy, safety) ignored or manipulated, no reason to say that.
Pre-loaded funding, promise of government controlled monopoly into forseeable future and protection from liability enabled this debacle at the "speed of science". Pharma bought media hid it.
