That's a strong word. Even today it can make people mad. No question about it.
If somebody said, "Fuck you!" and they were pointing at me? I would feel something. Might be anger, might be fear. If I'm filled with the Holy Spirit, I might be in a hell of a mood, and laugh at your sorry ass. But it's a good word for getting some kind of emotion, even in the 21st century.
If they're not talking to me? The word still has power. One time back in college, my Yankee friend Ron and I were yelling at each other. I was in my Jeep on the street, and he was on the 9th damn floor or something. And we had just gotten back from winter break. And I'm yelling up to him.
"Did you get laid?!"
And he can't hear me. So he yells back, "What?!?
And so I yell as loud as I can so it will carry upwards 9 stories, "DID YOU GET LAID?". And after I do this, I notice a black guy walking with his girlfriend. She was fine, but the look on his face. Man.
Anyway, my Yankee friend Ron is laughing and he yells down to me. "NO! DID YOU?"
And I yell up, "NO!"
We were just trying to communicate, you know. But if I was walking with my girl, I'd be kinda pissed, too. Or maybe I'd be laughing, depending on my mood.
So today is election day in Madison. Cheese Heads are voting for a new State Supreme Court Justice - and we can only hope that Ann and Meade have returned from the Big Apple.
Interestingly most of the campaign funds are being sent to Milwaukee County Judge Janet Protasiewicz's campaign, which is outraising all of her three opponents combined.
She is a liberal which normally means that Dane and Milwaukee counties are in her pocket. But I would guess that the inability of voters to pronounce or spell her name will come into play.
One time, this was in my 20's, I decided it might be fun and cool to try to be a diplomat. You know, travel around the world and meet people in foreign lands. Like James Bond, except with words. I'll be a diplomat! That's what I'll do.
So I took some practice tests. They have a standardized test for diplomacy. And I've always been good at standardized tests. These are tests that you can't study, you can't prep, you just go in there and wing it. I rock the fuck out of standardized tests.
(I got a high IQ and I read a lot so I'm pretty smart, but I'm also lazy and I don't study or memorize shit to please authority figures because I'm rebellious as shit)
If it wasn't for the standardized tests, I never would have gotten into college, let alone law school. Standardized tests always saved my bacon. My grades were shit! But my CAT and SAT and LSAT scores all kicked ass.
Anyway, I kicked the shit out of the diplomacy standardized test. I always do that shit. So I'm high on life and dreaming of my new pacifist job of traveling the world and talking to people.
I tell my best friend, Rob, about how I'm thinking of becoming a diplomat.
He laughs so hard. He is cracking up. He can't even breathe. Tears are running down his face. "You are not a diplomat!" he says.
This kind of hurts my feelings. I try to explain my high score on the standardized test. I was like in the top 5% or something. I kicked it's ass! I'll be an awesome diplomat! You should see my scores on the fucking diplomat exam!
He can't even hear me. He's laughing so hard. More tears. Genuine laughter, not that fake laugh that people do sometimes. I was cracking him up.
"Taylor!" he yelled. "You are not a diplomat!"
He was right. I don't bite my tongue enough to be a diplomat. They don't test for that. But it's true.
You remember when Donald Trump (another non-diplomat) sent John Bolton (another non-diplomat) to the United Nations (a building full of diplomats)?
That's kind of like sending me anywhere. I'm liable to speak my mind.
I really don't care about NYC... they can go to hell (as they seem to be doing...)
I live in Texas and you might see this kind of stuff in Austin but then I hear the woke in Austin are having trouble cause the defunded the police. Hahahaha... reap what you sow.
Chuck says that Russian dissidents should overthrow Putin, but what if Putin just locks them away without a fair trial the way we do dissidents in the US?
Anyway, whoever comes after Putin is going to be way worse. You can take that as a given. We had our moment and put Yeltsin in power, and Russia has been trying to put itself back together ever since. Don't think they don't know it. Putin is at 70% popularity right now in Russia.
Macron said it last week, this whole project was stupid, and the sanctions were never going to work. Look at how Americans reacted to 9-11? Imagine if Russia had helped to overthrow the government of Mexico and provided heavy weapons to the new government, which it "legitimized" by recognizing it while the smoke was still clearing from the coup. And that army, armed by Russia, was marching towards the US border?
There would not be any meaningful dissent against whatever actions the US took to counter such a threat, even if influence peddler Joe Biden was POTUS. You guys mix up sympathy with empathy. If you don't have empathy for your rivals, you will find their actions totally unpredictable. Sympathy is a worthless emotion in geopolitics. Sympathy is an emotion that power players use to manipulate the hoi polloi.
New Yorkers like to strike a pose with their two middle fingers pointed skyward, until they get into financial trouble (a regular occurrence) and then it’s “Why won’t you help us?”
Reason #5276 why I don't visit NY City. The last time I was there it was to testify as an expert witness in a med mal case. It was Bronx Supreme Court, the scene of "Bonfire of the Vanities" court house. It was exactly as described in the book. At one point the jury asked the judge if he could force one juror to bathe as they could not stand his smell. Our side won and the lawyer, whose usual practice was criminal defense, invited me for dinner next time I returned. I never did.
Yes, my 2nd wager on the new year will be liberals taking majority in April for 1st time in 15 years in Wisconsin Supreme court. Record setting $$$ going in for the "non-political" event scheduled for tonight's nominee vote. Gerrymandering (most in the country, Dobbs, ballot boxes, covid issues etc. will be issues voted on going forward. I would not be surprised to see both liberals move forward, and I am opening line at 6-1 for now. Tune in for tonight's results. I am 1-1 on my Roi from last year with FLIGHTLINE running away in Classic at 2022 BREEDERS CUP and then put to stud after only 5 races(terrible) but standing at $200,000 for breeder fees, can't beat a dead horse right? Wisconsin Conservative majority in supreme court needs adjustment and April should do it starting with tonight's vote. BIG $$$ flowing in.
Timothy Hutton has been one of those pretty good actors who has been around forever.
If you like Rex Stout and Nero Wolfe, Hutton played the best Archie Goodwin you've ever seen in your life. And he was a producer and directed some of the strongest episodes. (For you FBI haters like me, be sure to watch The Doorbell Rang).
Hutton was also one of the stars of the great show Leverage.
Back in the 20th century, he was doing fun cinema. I remember Beautiful Girls, that was fun. And he was the suicidal kid in Ordinary People, another great movie.
What got me thinking about Timothy Hutton was all that graffiti. It's got a shit rating at IMDB. But Turk 182! is a lot of fun. Good solid B+ in my movie book. #1217 movie of all-time. If you want to pull for a graffiti artist sticking it to the man, that's a movie for you.

Me too! What’s up with that? Is Professora testing our powers of observation? Or is this our status going forward: part of an essential mixture of nutritious elements?
He directed several romantic comedies with Sammi Cheng, my favorite Asian actress. Check out Needing You if you want to see a great romantic comedy from Hong Kong.

Tell me again, why this liar has a security clearance, and WHY he isn't in prison for obstructing justice? He is a liar.

Machete and Bob Saget. A mash-up for the ages.
In the Seventies, every subway car looked like that.
I don't get it.
Why isn't that in a museum, drawing admiring sighs from the Woke (and keeping specialists in ignorance employed)?

NPR is going to bring us "President Joe Biden"'s words from Warsaw in the next hour or so.
Time to go run my errands.

I think I understand why New Yorkers are fleeing.

Yes it is,
Hong Kong filmmaker Johnny To has been ripping the dictators.
