Maybe it’s my ‘fake news’ brain cell kicking in, but is this true (along with the Japanese fans cleaning up the stadium)? As much as bad news can be fake, so can ‘good’ news.

It seems to be based on a stereotype, and reinforces a stereotype, but then stereotypes are often based in some element of reality. Is this a reflection on japan as a whole or just the team? Perhaps all teams leave their locker room in such a state? perhaps, the story in this case is the corollary that other teams are messy.

What story would this picture tell without the comment (or another comment)?

Dear corrupt left, go F yourselves рдо्рд╣рдгाрд▓े...

Impressive.

Opposite of say... any democrat, Antifa, or leftist rally.

I followed the link to see if there were pictures of other locker rooms. There weren't, but almost immediately a fight broke out over the bombing of Hiroshima.

Take that, people who think Twitter has changed under Musk!

- offense, neat and tidy
- defense, chaotic

Everyone got there before me...the Tea Party did behave the same way, and the American Left behaves exactly the opposite.

By the way, you want to see casual littering and disrespect of the environment? Go to any developing country.

I initially thought that we had underestimated Marie Kondo’s cultural influence, but after leaving Japan she’s lived in San Francisco and now LA so that hypothesis is clearly wrong.

Not surprising in the least. There are no public trash receptacles in Japan, yet the streets and sidewalks are spotless. A Japanese train station is a sight to behold. Think of subway stations in New York where the track beds are littered with trash and the rats are having a field day -- in Japan you could eat your lunch off them.

Leland рдо्рд╣рдгाрд▓े...

Look at those single use containers! How could they destroy the planet like that?

They could be more like Disney, who I just watched their entry for the NYC Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade with confetti raining down until the ground was covered with strips of paper and Mylar. It is all for the show.

I really admire having discipline like that. Japan is not that big a country, but their culture of discipline has led them to become an economic powerhouse in the world. I saw a documentary about the development of their electronics industry. They weren't big on innovation and discovery, but they were big on quality control and efficiency.

I remember you debating about getting a Miata a while ago. I read an article about how Mazda took the idea of small, European sports cars and developed the Miata in the late 1980s. The small European sports cars of that era had a major problem. They were so sloppily built that they were maintenance nightmares. Constantly leaking fluids and constantly in the shop. Mazda built a small, inexpensive, sports car that was insanely reliable. (Even though it was underpowered.) I've owned three NA Miatas and I loved driving and owning every one of them.

effinayright рдо्рд╣рдгाрд▓े...

I lived in Kyoto some years back, and one of the odd aspects was seeing how fastidious the Japanese were about neatness at home, in subways and train stations, but how they would leave piles of litter strewn in public parks surrounding temples, shrines and (for example) the trails leading up Mount Fuji.

After a couple of books came out pointing at the problem, people gradually got the message.

Wouldn't it be ...nice...if our "progressives" left their many demonstrations as tidy as MAGA rally attendees do today?

But apparently only "fascists" think people should clean up after themselves.

Japan's culture is very community oriented. People there care very much how their actions can affect others. I am not sure if this is actually a practice, but I have heard that at clubs and bars there if a group of people have to use the restroom, the way they indicate that the table they are leaving is occupied is they leave their cell phones on the table while they go to the restroom. I can't imagine any major city here where a practice like that could work. Also one of the more popular songs of the last few years there is a song called Usseewa. What it means is a rude way to tell someone to be quiet. But what I have heard is that it literally translates into "Noisy". I don't know the Japanese language at all. But I thought it was another signifier of a society that cares very much how their actions can affect others where someone using not a verb, but an adjective is understood as a command.

If neatness shames, what’s the woke position on neat people?

Yes, Gadfly. Your ANTIFA goons who attacked the peaceful and tidy MAGA attendees did indeed trash streets, attack police, create the need for expensive security to protect Trump supporters, and leave piles of trash everywhere.

I watched them do this for about five hours outside the Fox Theater in Atlanta. Nobody was arrested, even those attacking people in Trump hats, trying to break through police lines, sneaking in and disrupting speeches, following people to their cars screaming at them, blocking traffic, and terrorizing random pedestrians and diners.

The well-heeled gay rights group, HRC, also had leadership embedded in and rooting on the riot.
