I'm reading "Meghan podcast hits out at films’ ‘toxic’ Asian stereotypes" (London Times).
She may have suffered "adolescent embarrassment" long ago, but she's far beyond embarrassment now. She's got a very popular podcast, and now, championing Asian women, she's citing her experience on "a trip to a Korean spa with her mother where swimwear was not allowed.
“Once I was over that adolescent embarrassment, my mom and I, we would . . . have the most delicious noodles. And we’d look around at all of these other women, these beautiful Korean women who had embraced the generational tradition of the jjimjilbang [bathhouse].”
So, nude bathing and delicious noodles and you're ready to opine. Why not? We're told she took a stand against the "dragon lady" stereotype.
A clip was played from Austin Powers in Goldmember, the third outing in the film comedy series, which featured the characters Fook Mi and Fook Yu, who were Japanese twins. In a clip taken from Kill Bill, the character O-Ren Ishii said: “The price you pay for bringing up either my Chinese or American heritage as a negative is . . . I collect your f***ing head.”

If we’re talking toxic Asian film stereotypes the Jim Carey dream sequence in Dumb and Dumber is the Sistine Chapel.
So brave. So much wisdom. Listen and learn. /s
Here's hoping we all get through October in one piece. In a world where MM can get away with all this, maybe we've got it coming to us.
I'm just thinking about all those naked Korean women, I guess.
That male gaze... M-M-M. smh. Dragon Lady gone get me before this is all over.
I don’t understand why she is considered black. I’ve seen pictures of her standing next to Kate and the difference in skin tone is barely noticeable..
But then again I also don’t understand why she is considered a beauty either. Kind of reminds me of the Beto O’Rorke of media. The press idolizes both even though neither have any actual accomplishments.
Amazing, how a nobody can exploit the public’s bottomless appetite for cheap sensation.
British royalty are such tiresome douche bags. All of them.
And Markle isn't even royal. She is just married to one. Who may not even be royal himself (bastard son of a gardener or whoever)
Why the fascination with royal, Ann?
It is positively un-American.
John stop fascism vote republican Henry
It’s odd, I know, to be in agreement with this neurotic self-absorbed celebutard, but I too really like naked pretty Asian women and noodles. Something I picked up in ‘Nam….along with the clap.

She is such a narcissist. Who cares? She is a fame whore.
My wife likes to watch romantic movies on the Hallmark cable-television channel, and so I happened to watch Meghan Markle in one of the two Hallmark movies she starred in -- When Sparks Fly and Dater's Handbook.
I don't remember which of those movies I saw, but I do remember that I thought she was an excellent actress in that genre. Her acting skills are excellent, and she has a captivating presence.
I always thought that the Dragon Lady stereotype was a compliment to powerful strong assertive women who intimidated weak ass cuckish men. Kinda like the Asian version of a Shield Maiden.

MM really has no redeeming qualities as far as I’m concerned. I have no interest in listening to a word she has to say. I’d almost rather read a twitter thread by any random twit…
If I had known that this would have been such a big problem, I would have washed my own shirts, fermented my own cabbage, and built my own railroad.
Harry's girl is Harry's problem, not yours or mine or ours.
It was better when royals didn't have personalities that we had to worry about, but were just heads on coins.
The Fook jokes never get old.
When in Japan, the onsen is naked-only as well.
But if you have visible tattoos they might (politely) throw you out...
The Queen was a class act from top-to-bottom, but now that she's gone, who wants a constant reminder of how far the English royalty function has fallen, who wants to be shown explicitly how much the standard-bearer of 'Standards' has slipped? With a couple of low-wattage exceptions, they're entitled bums.
Nobody cares.
A clip was played from Austin Powers in Goldmember, the third outing in the film comedy series, which featured the characters Fook Mi and Fook Yu, who were Japanese twins.
One of them was Carrie Ann Inaba of Dancing With The Stars fame. I believe it was Fook Yu.
I would think a teenager being naked with a naked parent would be more freaked out than with strangers, but in California, who knows? Her mother is apparently a free spirit, or something.
J's Revenge, she looked more African before she had her nose narrowed and her hair straightened and/or covered. Except her skin was even lighter then.
MM's appeal is on full display in the TV series "Suits". The writers obviously liked her personally, as her character was always very appealing, plus she's a great-looking woman full-stop.
My only question is, for what reason is she of all people now designated as "championing Asian women"?
It's sad to me that no high-profile celebrity woman has chosen to be the tribune for single African-American mothers living and raising their families in poverty in our inner-cities.
Maybe a prominent white woman can take up that cause, since it's now all cool and groovy for a Black woman to shill for the Asian ladies.

Is "meghan" like "cher" now? First name only and we're supposed to you're talking about?
Koreans, tramps, and thieves.
