Here are 6 TikToks for you. Some people love them.

1. Not at all lonely, singing about loneliness.

2. Paul McCartney, busking.

3. You don't have to sing in your "Happy Birthday" voice.

4. Every particle of feminism evaporated.

5. A coat of doll heads.

6. The notion that a "non-hottie" cannot write from the point of view of a beautiful woman.

#2. Never knew times were so tough in the McCartney household.

Temujin म्हणाले...

McCartney piece gave me a smile.
Also liked the harmonizing guys in the living room. The look on the kids faces was interesting. Like..."what is this fresh hell?"

2. That’s nothing, I’ve got John Lennon, busking.

#6 is an addition to the #JournalismIsDead collection.

Sir Paul is the big winner. I couldn't even make it halfway through numbers 3, 5 or 6 tonight.

I wish I could understand what the particles of femininism evaporating even means. She loves how Yul Brynner clasps Deborah Kerr? Or hates it? Or is triggered by it? Is turned on by it? Wishes it were more?

#3 - the best advice ever given on tiktok about anything. I love that guy, I want to buy him a drink.

I think she is expressing the point made by Katharine MacKinnon that feminism is doomed by women’s eroticizing of subordination.

"The notion that a "non-hottie" cannot write from the point of view of a beautiful woman."

OK, a non-hottie can write from that point of view. Now generalize. What other non-x can write from the point of view of x? All? Methinks the generalization is a little risky from a prog point of view. So: only some? Which non-x's are PC?

Fortunately for progs, they don't do foolish consistency. Ideological consistency is where it's at.

The last entry was interesting. Is it easier for a plain woman to write about the problems and pitfalls of a beautiful woman or for a beautiful woman to write about the problems and pitfalls of a plain woman? I have read some books by George Eliot (nee Marian Evans). She wasn't a hottie and she wasn't a man, but all her characters were credible and, by any measure, she's a fine writer.....I guess a beautiful woman if she lives long enough gets to see what life is like if you're not beautiful. The experience undoubtedly improves their wisdom and character and helps them become better writers if they don't commit suicide or drink themselves to death.

The subtext of existence beyond personal survival is the survival of your species. Throughout most of history and throughout most cultures women were treated unfairly. The problem is that if women had been treated equitably and allowed a fair share of life's risks and rewards, the human race would have died out. Maybe a predilection towards masochism and subordination is a plus when it comes to child birth and child rearing. Child birth sounds daunting and especially so in the days of purperal fever, placenta previa, and no calcium channel blockers. Any sane person would take a hard pass on all that.

The McCartney busking was fun to watch. Reminded me of an experiment a few years back where a famous classical violinist busked in a Metro station as an experiment to see how many people would notice how exceptional he was. Almost no one did.

If giving into sexual lust is "subordination", it's a stupid "point", indeed.

If this is what you think, I pity poor Meade.

Maybe in your next life you'll come back as a praying mantis: just chew off his head and get it over with.

Have you ever hear the term sexual DRIVE?

Why do animals engage in sex? Are they all eroticizing subordination?

What the fuck is giving into heterosexual attraction anything BUT nature's way of ensuring reproduction?

The guy talking about not using my happy birthday voice made me believe that I could learn to sing!

Love, love the doll head coat…the coat itself, that is.

I found #3 to be, well, duh. Who knew this was a thing?

I realized I could sing in different voices, timbres and ranges when I was about 14. Still love to sing bass to doowop and other styles of songs to this day.

Thank you Ann for windows on those worlds!

I can only write about 4th generation average-looking Irish-Americans at the younger end (but not the very end) of large families. Best if they're named Tim Maguire.

Didn't we all agree that anything else is cultural appropriation and leaving my lane?

I think the better part of #6 is the thought that perhaps they shouldn't be outsourcing their reviews to anonymous posters on review sites. I feel like an editor probably should have pushed back that.

Props to Mac for busking on the street. It was very clever to change the tempo of "Yesterday" because it helped disguise his voice.
