Delond Trumpsk is in the office and he's firing everybody
Reminds me of US troops walking into Hitler's Mountain lair in the Bavarian Mountains at the close of WW II.
There's an unseemly joy over the impending firings. I don't feel bad for most of them, twitter will probably be a better company without most of them, but still...
It was as if millions of voices suddenly cried out in joy and were suddenly unsilenced. I pray something wonderful has happened.
If he brings back freedom of speech - or the freedom to complain and criticize democrats -
DEMOCRACY WILL BE IN PERIL!
Why is Twitter burning natural gas at their entrance?
LOL
I will wait to see if Musk highlights the relationship between twitter and the US Intelligence community.
That will be an interesting answer to some questions.
Is that a sink?
You know Elon has completely abandon the left and Democrats.
He still has a sense of humor and doesn't lack self-awareness.
Now that is just funny. He brought in the kitchen sink as well. This is going to be great entertainment for the next few days (weeks?).
Especially after reading the letter from the poor employees demanding that they be treated with dignity and they be allowed to keep their jobs as gate-keepers of the correct information.
I haven't followed the Elon Musk - Twitter affair. It sounds like kids arguing on the playground.
Has Musk written a check?
I thought he was just going to point out Twitter flaws, and sell short!!
Gotta love the dude…
It's as if three thousand voices cried out and suddenly were silenced.
Notice how nobody is in the office? Do you really need 7,000 employees deleting Hunter Biden tweets, Elon?
Or could that money be better spent in your pocket?
When it all goes down in flames, at least he will have this stupid video to hold onto.
I am sure their top programmers are impressed and even more excited for him to be a part of their lives.
He is a joyful chap! The sink is hilarious.
"There's an unseemly joy over the impending firings."
I agree, it would be better if we could arrange to arrest them and hold them without trial in a DC Gulag, where they would be abused by brutal guards. Like the Democrats do, with their political opponents. But for now, we have to be content with cutting off their supply of free frozen yogurt. Baby steps.
I am sure their top programmers are impressed and even more excited for him to be a part of their lives.
Having known a guy who worked for Musk almost from the start of SpaceX, I am sure that Twitter's top programmers, if they aren't excited about this change, can be replaced by top programmers who are more interested in programming than in making childish demands about keeping their at-will jobs and the generous benefits Twitter has afforded them.
"I am sure their top programmers are impressed and even more excited for him to be a part of their lives."
"top programmers"? What do you think they do at twitter? GI, GO.
Not sure I can tell you what features have been added over the last couple years that make Twitter more compelling…. Seems like the key to revenue generation is advertising and the algorithms that direct ads to specific targets….. not sure how many staff members are needed to keep Twitter operational if they stopped development. Maybe new services will come along but will take time to ramp up. And if he toys with charging to have an account? I would image he has a plan. Or Biden stops the acquisition due to national security concerns.
"There's an unseemly joy over the impending firings."
Where? Sounds like bullshit.
I love the imagery of the sink, but a commode would have been even better! I'll wait and see if the mass layoffs occur. Even very smart people need some time to sort the wheat from the chaff.
Are you cleaning out everything, Elon?
Everything but the kitchen sink. Oh, that too.
There's an unseemly joy over the impending firings.
Did you read their list of demands?
Those assholes can't be fired soon enough.
And I don't even do Twitter.
"Especially after reading the letter from the poor employees demanding that they be treated with dignity and they be allowed to keep their jobs as gate-keepers of the correct information."
Prediction: The World's Tiniest Violin is going to be getting a lot of use in the upcoming days.
LOL, Lefty Mark. You bring joy to my day with your sour grapes.
Dumb Lefty Mark: "When it all goes down in flames, at least he will have this stupid video to hold onto."
LOL
One can just feel the seething adolescent rage bubbling up in this latest comment by Dumb Lefty Mark as the Trophies for Participants generation get a lesson in realpolitik and realbusiness.
Dumb Lefty Mark: "I am sure their top programmers are impressed and even more excited for him to be a part of their lives."
If only Musk had experience working in the tech industry so that he would understand all the human dynamics at work in this acquisition. It is unfortunate Musk has not had the benefit of Dumb Lefty Mark's "wisdom" in these matters. If Musk had, perhaps he might have made a successful go of a business or 2.......
madAsHell: "I haven't followed the Elon Musk - Twitter affair."
If you had you would know its actually the Elon Musk - Twitter/US Nat Security Services/Democratical Party/Legacy Media affair.
Looks like it's gonna close by Friday. This is the best thing to happen to stupid libtards since the J6 insurrection.
Now we know the motivation for the Twitter purchase: this one glorious pun. There’s a critic of Shakespeare who said, “Shakespeare lost a kingdom for a pun and considered it well lost.” History repeats itself.
African-American rising. Too much diversity [dogma]?
Does that mean he is not getting rid of everything and the kitchen sink?
"There's an unseemly joy over the impending firings."
Ah, progress. Birds are chirping. Posterity is in the air. You're not viable. A Twitter Spring.
Congratulations to Twitter's public shareholders. Hope you saw appreciation on those volatile shares.
There's an unseemly joy over the impending firings.
Is schadenfreude unseemly? I don't feel joy as much as I anticipate feeling some sense of satisfaction if the Twitter bullies are freed to find employment elsewhere.
Maybe it's South African humor, an old saying or something.
After reading the leaked email of demands from employees, I am thinking Elon’s IT Security staff will be identifying those who sent it, replied or forwarded it affirming their agreement to it, or even sent unlinked emails agreeing to the demands. They will be the first employees terminated with prejudice and no separation package. These employees are in no position to make outrageous demands on how he should run his company as Elon will own it lock, stock, and barrel, not these employees. I have no sympathy for these overpaid, under performing, full of themselves employees. Good luck in the real world, suckers…a real world barreling head long into an economic recession where there will be competition by too many coders for not enough coding jobs, and a recession created by the very Democrats they not only whole heartedly supported with their votes, their campaign donations, and their blocking of conservative voices on Twitter.
Have the Althouse usual lefty suspects accused Musk of bringing an Assault Sink to twitter hq yet?
'There's an unseemly joy over the impending firings.'
Why unseemly?
They're a bunch of overpaid, whiny, socialist brats.
I rejoice in the destruction of my enemies.
Fuck them...
What everyone seems to forget is that Musk doesn't want Twitter. He wants to use some of its assets and some of its personnel to create some new thing he calls "X". From what I have heard about X, I think he has Bezos envy. Anyway, I don't think Larry Ellison and Sequoia Capital are investing all that cash so that they can end up owning what Twitter is today. It ain't worth it. Musk has something else in mind, and they think it is a good bet.
From the manifesto...
"We demand that leadership does not discriminate against workers on the basis of their race, gender, disability, sexual orientation, or political beliefs."
So they can continue to discriminate against users on the basis of their political beliefs, I presume. Nice.
Can we even consider it "firing" if the persons being let go went on record over the last 6 months as saying they'd quit if Musk owned Twitter? Seems more like they made Elon an offer he can't refuse.
After reading more, I'll guess the HR organization has the biggest head count.
One day they're frantic for additional HR help, and the next day they're organizing an Ugly Tie Contest.
You know what impresses programmers,Mark?
Paychecks. Paychecks impress all employees.Especially if they're productive. Not like at your public sector job.
And Readering suddenly develops deep concern for...the shareholders.
Hahahahaha!
There'll be weepin' and wailin'
And skinny arms a-flailin'
And just when it hit them
We all turned around and shouted
Play those weepy losers, smart boy
Play those weepy losers right
Lay down the new rules
And play those weepy losers as they cry

How would anyone here know anything about this? Does anyone experience joy from losing a paying job? If so the quit option was always available. As for Twitter, how can it become better by firing experienced employees? Bad employees and bad managers have to be ferreted out and fired as the business operates day to day. Sadly, bad owners march to a different beat.

Hilarious. People who have never accomplished anything in their lives are experts on the tech industry.
’When it all goes down in flames…’
Exactly why would that happen? TWTR will be an absolute cash cow after he fires 5,500 deadwood thought police. Deal with it, sweetie.
I will be as happy about the Twitter firings as the Left was about miners being thrown out of work.
Now that's enter-tainment.
"In rode the Lord of the Nazgul. A great black shape against the fires beyond he loomed up, grown to a vast menace of despair. In rode the Lord of the Nazgul, under the archway that no enemy ever yet had passed and all fled before his face"
Great scene. Too bad Peter Jackson left it out of the movie.

“There's an unseemly joy over the impending firings.”
To see your enemies crushed, to see them driven before you, to hear the lamentation of their women.
This is what is best in life.
readering, Dumb Left Mark and gadfly: An impressive truimverate of invincible business ignorance.
I'm guessing a toilet was the first idea, which was then toned down by PR people in the name of discretion.
His most difficult decision in week one won't have to do with how many people to can. It'll be whether to let Kanye back on the platform.

Toilet present much and many pondered dilemma >>> seat up or down
sink is easy peasy
Elon’s favorite pun meme
Well, my 32 year old kid just informed me that the sink meme has been semi-ubiquitous for several years.
Beam ... had the right idea. Every single one of the employees (not "workers" as I doubt most of them did ANY work) should be in the first group to be fired. Not released. Not laid off. FIRED.
And the idea that these people are to be pitied because they will be losing their jobs? Are there no workhouses, are there no prisons? Giggle™
Marcus THEOLDMAN
I sense the Twitter birds are going on a kill them all frenzy like the Japs did to the innocent Philipino civilians in Manila as their certain defeat approached. I have commented on Twitter for 3 years without complaint, but was Permanently Suspended with no reason given three days ago. My crime is likely being an effective and civil Trump supporter.
Michael K, if you knew who I knew, you would feel embarrassed at your comment.
But go ahead, pretend everyone whose stock is vested is not happy to cash out and move on to the next thing.
Given it is full of bots, users appear to be leaving, and the offering price is as high as the stock ever hit ... yeah, no one with talent is looking at the payday and thinking it will be a while before Twitter stock beats $50 a share.
The market is now signaling that the deal is going to close, but I’ll believe it when I see it.
Left Bank of the Charles: "The market is now signaling that the deal is going to close, but I’ll believe it when I see it."
You've clearly spent a lifetime believing alot of things that aren't true so its hardly a surprise you refuse to accept reality.
And the markets are simply recognizing that the cash is flowing.
Cash flowing, in the billions, tends to carry alot of weight.
Maybe those "programmers" can learn to weld?
I got a permaban last year for retweeting a Babylon Bee story.
Fuck all these assholes.
The joy in the impending firings is seemly, indeed.
Staring with that happy-face fascist witch, Vijaya Gedde.
I hope she’s the only person banned from the platform.
Michael K, if you knew who I knew, you would feel embarrassed at your comment.
You imbecile! Do you not know who I am?
Yeah.....Dr. K is shaking in his boots.
Is this the real life equivalent of Charles Foster Kane walking into the Inquirer?
Criminal charges for Tesla.
Let that sink in

1. You are really kinda dumb and this comment makes that clear. You know people! I chuckled. They probably don't know you.
2. I hope the price of Twitter dips a lot. The people who will be losing are the people who sell before/as it goes down.
3. There will be some snow flakes leaving even as people like me reactivate our accounts. Stupid fascists like you think banning people brings in more customers even though that is illogical on it's face.
If Twitter goes open source/decentralized and integrates with blockchain technology and digital currencies it will be the town square again and Government Regimes around the world will not be able to stop it. Combined with Starlink?
Please sell all of your stock in twitter. Drive that price down for me.
What do all those people at Twitter do, anyway? The whole system is consumer driven.
I t should be, as noted, a few programmers and people keeping the servers free to dust.

I guess Mark knows my cousin.
Mark doesn't seem to understand that Twitter dying the death it deserves is an acceptable outcome. For him it appears to be about his personal animus towards Elon Musk.
Free-speech Twitter: Acceptable
Twitter dying: Acceptable
Win/Win
"If you knew who I knew.........."
Absolute proof we're dealing with an adolescent. Run along kid.
So now Musk walks back promise of moderation per boundaries of 1st amendment. Promises advertisers active content moderation. Presumably that means paying content moderators going forward.
Readering.
"He promised." Exactly what was promised?
I'd love to get my permanently suspended account back. It was fun while it lasted.
Before it was nuked, I was also locked for a week for opining that Putin may end up dying of cancer. Apparently that idea fell under the 'harassment' violation, whatever that means. It says you cannot wish death or injury upon someone but nowhere did I ever wish for that — I was simply prognosticating a possible future. It was in response to Eric Weinstein of all people.
