"Unfortunately, many of the very people responsible for losing the Senate last cycle are now trying to stop us from winning the majority this time by trash-talking our Republican candidates...."

"[W]hen you complain and lament that we have 'bad candidates,' what you are really saying is that you have contempt for the voters who chose them....  Much of Washington's chattering class disrespects and secretly (or not so secretly) loathes Republican voters. These self-appointed 'smart guys' in Washington think they (not the voters) should be able to choose our candidates.... While the media and Washington want to try and tear down our candidates, voters put forward incredible people to serve in the Senate: a world-renowned doctor, a Heisman trophy winner and successful businessman, a small businessman and congressman from a farming community, a bestselling author who has shown the struggles in America from drug addiction, a successful tech entrepreneur, an Iraq War veteran who served two terms as state attorney general, a successful construction company entrepreneur, and a nurse who has fought for change at the VA so our heroes get the care they deserve.... [W]e will take control of the Senate this fall.... And when we do, we will be in a position to stop this confused and ridiculous president from further damaging our great country...."

Writes Senator Rick Scott in "Washington versus Republican voters" (Washington Examiner).

Hmm, I just a moment ago I read an op-ed by Hershel Walker decrying the trash talk of Democrats. And here we have Tim Scott and the trash-talking Democrats.

Both are in the Washington Examiner, so maybe it's the same ghost writer. But still, I'm sensing a theme.

But are those candidates from the Washington insider Ivy League? If not, then they are deplorable.

rcocean म्हणाले...

I dunno why Scott doesn't name names. He's talking about Mitch McConnell among others. Along with the usual Nevertrumper crowd and Fake Cons that show up in the MSM and the pages of the Wapo and NYTs.

McConnell and his gang, have shown in the past, that they'd rather be a minority in the Senate with themselves in charge, then a majority with the "Wrong sort" of Republican Senator. McConnell threw away a Senate seat in 2017, when we had a slim 53-47 majority because he didn't like Roy Moore. Result: We came within a ace of losing Kavanaugh.

McConnell also tried to sabotage all the Tea Party candidates.

Rightwingers need to understand there is zero point in nominating some "electable" RINO. First, they might lose. Second, even if they're elected you're stuck with a backstabbing RINO who will "Cross the aisle" to help the Democrats. You might as well nominate a real Rightwinger, and he wins great. And if he loses, you aren't any worse off, then if you'd gotten a RINO.

People in Alaska need to vote D, and deny Lisa Murky the seat. You can get it back in six years with a real conservative, instead of a 60% liberal.

Trump didn't throw away 2 senate seats in GA. Both were piss poor candidates, one of them was picked by Kemp.

THey are the ones who threw away their seats. And mitch mcconnell. Why didn't Mitch go down with Mitt Romney and campaign for them?

Trump campaigned in GA for those two clowns. Neither had the sense to support a recount of GA votes like Trump asked. Neither supported Trump's $2000 covid relief plan, both supported H-1B expansion and overriding Trump's veto of the NDAA. In December, Perdue was bragging to jewish voters (caught on tape) about how he looked forward to working with Biden.

IN 2022, Perdue wanted to run again, and no one wanted him. His run for Governor was a disaster. He lost his Senate seat because he wanted to be Mitch's Bitch, and listen to Erick Erickson. A total Republican Establishment LOSER.

That's a lot of big talk from a chap who thought Republicans' opening argument during the midterms ought to be that poor people don't pay enough taxes.

I mean, it might be true, and points for honesty if he believes it -- that's how you get a mandate to do hard but necessary things, But if we're talking about winning, it was political malpractice to say it. Fulminating against other Republicans isn't going to erase his error.

Anyone can like Mitt Romney. If you're a liberal/moderate RINO, support him. if you like Liberal Leftism with some Globalist, Big Business love, go vote for him.

Just don't pretend he's good for the Republican Party or believes in social conservativism, enforcing the Immigration laws, looking out for the American worker, or appointing Scalia/Thomas like judges. Or keeping out of useless wars and conflicts. Romney would have us at war in the Ukraine - USA planes attacking the Russians - and still fighting in Afghanistan.

If it had been up to Mittens Trump would've dropped out in Oct 2016 and gave Hillary the Presidency. He was happy as a pig in shit, when Biden won. He spends all his time attacking other Republicans and cozying up to the Liberal/left MSM.

He's Democrat lite. Invade the world, invite the world. If he was honest, he'd run as a Democrat. But he's not. He's a liar and a sanctimoneous con man.

Worth repeating.

Kemp and the loathsome Zuckerberg fan-boy Raffensberger with a staff full of pro-dem corruptocrats stood there in the wake of the dems "in your face" cheating and sent a clear signal that they were'nt even going to admit the dems were pulling vote scams in Fulton Co.

Thats what turned off the rural conservative voters in GA for the runoff.

And then that POS Raffensberger and his staff went Full Schiff-mode with their hoaxed up phone call "recollections", gleefully seized upon by the media and Team Sham-peachment II, up until an actual transcript of the call was released and showed Raffensberger's ebtire staff to be a bunch of Vindman's.

So naturally, the nice, polite, respectful and graceful GOPe-ers adore them.

Re: Drago:

Any thoughts on that? (Unless I missed it).

My thought is that Rick Scott is not a convincing or credible messenger for "[X] is costing us the election." There's a lot of Republican senators, most of whom could complain about McConnell (or Trump or Cheney or whoever) without also having committed a conspicuous and elementary electoral blunder so obviously damaging to the interests of his party that his colleagues rushed to shut him down. Like, if you're Rick Scott, maybe have one of those colleagues be the one criticising McConnell if you're really looking out for the Republican party. Maybe think hard about motes and beams and just do what you can to affirmatively help out the candidates who may be struggling.

But at the strategic (or tactical?) level, it's way too early to give the press a hook for a bunch of stories about Republicans blaming each other for electoral disaster. Should McConnell be complaining about candidate quality? Well, no -- he ought to wait for them to actually lose before trying to blame a loss on those darn primary voters. And not leave them high and dry on financial support unless there is some other critical race that unexpectedly needs defending.

But does Rick "taxes are too low" Scott complaining about McConnell do anything to improve Republicans' electoral prospects? No. Keep it behind closed doors if you can't keep it to yourself.

The Godfather म्हणाले...

Gosh, I get sick and tired of all the self-described "conservatives" (or "Trumpsters") whining about the Republican RINOs! Hey guys and gals, we have a TWO-PARTY system. You don't want to bother to vote for your local RINO candidate? Then you're supporting the Democrat candidate, you're supporting Joe "I did that" Biden. Look at what a tiny Democrat majority has been able to get through the House -- hugely expensive radical programs. Two (TWO!) Democrat Senators paused part of the disaster, although it as still awfully destructive to our country and economy. But the odds favor a real Democrat Senate after this election. If you let the Dems control the House again, then you'll own the disaster, not me.
I vote in Republican primaries. I vote for the most conservative viable Republican candidate (do you think Wm F. Buckley was a RINO?). In the general election I vote for the Republican candidate, no matter how long the line is, come Hell or high water (because Hell and high water is what the election of a Democrat will lead to). You should, too.

When it comes to not supporting the winner of the republican primary in the general, ALL the "beams" are in the eyes of the GOPe-ers and only "motes" can be found in the eyes of conservative/populist republicans.

rcocean captured that dynamic perfectly upthread.

So spare us the fake party unity lectures that always ONLY run in one direction.

Its unbelievable how you only tossed in minor criticism of the leader of the republicans in the Senate for his quite public trashing of the republican candidates but then you came down like a ton of bricks on a republican who responded to that!

Tina Trent म्हणाले...

Rick Scott was a big positive surprise in Florida. The guy is a lot more articulate and focused than he was running for Governor. He works hard and understands politics. No fireworks, just works. And it appears that the thing that turned off voters at first -- his distance and solitary ways -- are also strengths when it comes to how he handles teamwork and winning. If someone can survive going to DC and not losing his marbles or his soul, I say we at least take a closer look at him for higher office.

Tina Trent म्हणाले...

Sorry Drago, you work with what you've got. Also, Kelly Loeffler was fearless. She sacrificed her lifelong passion, lost her basketball team, stood up for free speech like a barn on fire, almost alone in DC, and big babies like whatever Steve Bannon has morphed into and professional crooks like Jenny Beth Martin talked a bigger bunch of babies into staying home on election day, and that's why we lost the Senate. I never liked David Perdue's establishment hoggery, but I'd crawl over broken glass to vote for him. And the treatment of Loeffler was fact free and idiotically uninformed. She was doing a great job. She is a great conservative. Doltish GOP establishment soccer moms turned on her too, in a whine-fuelled catfight, which also didn't help.

Kemp has been courageous on issues in Georgia. He spent a hell of a lot of political clout to hold the GOP together. He didn't deserve the treatment Trump doled out. He's our last stand against going blue, and we already worked our asses off to overcome Abrams et.al. without this nonsense making it harder.

I travelled the state urging so-cons to vote for Trump, helped prevent the 9th district coup by leftitarians manipulating Cruz fanatics, and I would do it for him again, even though he screwed us over on our number one issue. I'll vote for him again, not take my toys home and pout because he broke campaign promises and lost his own race.

If you believe in the issues, you fight for them, not try to curate your feelings on election day by sitting at home or writing some loser's name on the ballot to feel virtuous like Rod Dreher.

Don't bring a binky to a knife fight.
