For Saturday, take a journey through 12 TikToks, arranged meaningfully... or so some people think.

1. Maybe you'll say "I remember the old pole."

2. London women who don't like American women are not too likable themselves.

3. How you would love it if your candidate were this loved.

7. The meaning of life in eating your toast.

8. The butter board?!

12. A dog carps about the stuck traffic.

This is what I was waiting for! Thanks, Althouse!

The museum tik tok includes the offensive suggestion of what to think after viewing the museum. Gee, where would I be if I didn't have this twit suggesting what I should take away from this tik tok? Piece of shit.

Ann Althouse म्हणाले...

"The museum tik tok includes the offensive suggestion of what to think after viewing the museum."

I paused when I got to the schedule and tried to imagine needing to live like that. There were periods of "exercise." And some people appreciate religion and silence during meals. If there were not a rule of silence during meals, the meal hall — crowded as it was, would have been cacophonous. You got your own little room, unlike our homeless shelters. It seemed a lot like a monastery.

Anyway, you're free to think what you want. I don't know why it made you so angry that the person presenting the video expressed an opinion. I never feel pushed around by someone else giving an opinion. I take it into account and form my own opinion. What's to get angry about?

#10. An aggressive voice in the dark.

When I watched the workhouse one, I was thinking that, if I were a high school English teacher, this is a video I would show before the class read any Dickens. If they still do Dickens.

My emotional #1 was saving the seal.

My thinking #1 was Mel and Anne's meeting. They always seemed like an interesting couple.

The pole had started to see better days?!?

So it had been going through a rough time, but now its life was getting better?

Crimso म्हणाले...

Was having a #13 but not a #12 a meaningful arrangement?

JAORE म्हणाले...

I might try a butter board...

Readering म्हणाले...

#1 workhouse. Too long and sad to watch again.
#2 Wisconsin. Watched 3 times.
#3= 2 vertiginous videos. Watched both twice. But that woman is surely not a professional.
#5 seal. Takes a long time and you know how it will end, but still....

What happened to 12?

I liked the seal. Just think how free that seal finally felt. It took a lot of work and patience. We are all weighed down with metaphorical bonds that tie us down.

wildswan म्हणाले...

#5 loved the seal. I kept thinking it would get away before they finished.

"A woman from America tried to use shillings to pay for her food." What is wrong with what she did?

Ann Althouse म्हणाले...

“ What happened to 12? ”

Ha ha

Thanks

Fixed

The dog is hilarious- the butter board is - well - kind of interesting
And yes we Wisconsinites do like to drink

Amexpat म्हणाले...

About the butter board: They are promoting double dipping as most people will not eat the whole slice of bread after dipping into the butter. So they will dip again with a slice of bread that will have residue of their saliva and resident germs into the communal butter.

This is a major faux pas, as George learned in a Seinfeld episode.

Wildswan: goggle "Decimal Day". Now try to imagine going shopping tomorrow with S&H Green Stamps, and the reactions you'd get.

Andrew म्हणाले...

The seal didn't even say thank you.

A dolphin would have said thank you.

Nancy म्हणाले...

Thank you Ann!

Ann Althouse म्हणाले...

"Wildswan: goggle "Decimal Day". Now try to imagine going shopping tomorrow with S&H Green Stamps, and the reactions you'd get."

But why would you dislike a foreigner for making a mistake like that.

Should I dislike you for writing "goggle"? We now have contempt for people for meaningless errors?

dbp म्हणाले...

I liked the pole and kind of wonder if the errors were intentional: It looks as if she got the telephone and electric wires backwards, also preserved wood is pretty toxic, so no toothpicks!

Curious George म्हणाले...

Wisconsin. Out drinking your state since 1848.

Mary Beth म्हणाले...

Now try to imagine going shopping tomorrow with S&H Green Stamps, and the reactions you'd get.

Try shopping with Green stamps at any place other than a redemption center and you would have gotten a reaction back then too.

Where are the Americans coming up with all of these shillings?

readering म्हणाले...

Have contempt? Too strong. Take the piss? Sure.

Mary Beth म्हणाले...

I would not like my neighbor to decorate their house with political signs like that, but I would also tell my child not to call them a "big, ol' crazy bastard". (I'd tell him that, although we think those signs are tacky, some people love it.)

I got the distinct impression that the child was repeating what he had heard several times. And the dad was expecting it, hence the recording. It cut off right after the kid said, "it looks like he's dancin'". He must have started going off script.

Bob Boyd म्हणाले...

Americans aren't all that bad, it doesn't sound like.

Man on the street interview from the 16th century:

"What's the worst thing about the Danes when they visit London?"

"Oh, that would have to be the raping and pillaging, I suppose. I hate it when they do that."

"The excessive murdering probably. Their murder rate is like 50%. Mine never peaks above 30%."

"OMG, these Danes came once and burned our whole village. Ridiculous!"

"They don't even try to pay for their food, not even with shillings."

Bob Boyd म्हणाले...

"Thanks for your patience"

Loved that.

Its the post modern museum experience in general that made me mad. You don't let someone else think for you, but you are smarter than normal. Normal people get beaten down by woke, I fear.

That’s reusing audio from another video. Click on the bottom icon in the sidebar to see. The original is a child that has caught a fish.

I heard that Green Bay Packer fans used to drink excessively in the cold watching the Pack. Then they would go into a bar, heat up a little, and pass out.

True?

Because that is so cool.

Anne Bancroft had quite an accent. New York accents were like that. They might sound rough and lower-class but you'd catch notes here and there that would make you think that the accent was upper class and pretentious (and in her case, "actressy"). Indeed, historically, the things that made New York accents sound sophisticated and refined in one generation, like dropping "r's", made them sound coarse and plebian in another.
