In honor of Kate's delightful comment, I've made this playlist... because even as Dick Cheney has variations — from Darth Vader to dear old Wyoming dad — "Enter Sandman" has its many moods:

"That music makes the ad sound like an SNL bit. Dude, you're Darth Vader. Pay for the rights to 'Enter Sandman.'"
Said Kate in the comments to my 8:03 post "You know that Dick Cheney ad would be better without that music in the background...."

The Pat Boone cover is hilarious. If I could only find my white bucks to tap along…
Try Enter Sandman by Apocalyptica! We were in Amsterdam a few years ago and went to a music club called the Melkweg. It was totally packed - standing room only - and we heard Apocalyptica for the first time. Awesome. A string quartet that covered Metallica tunes. You can find their work on YouTube.
"Try Enter Sandman by Apocalyptica!"
I checked that out. It's good, but it's about the same idea as the Vitamin String Quartet that I've already included, so I'm not going to put it on this playlist.
sandmen were the assassins in logans run, one of the many dystopia, that we seem to barreling toward,
LOL! I never knew that Pat Boone did a cover of it. Hilarious!
I would think that the Darth Vader theme from Star Wars would be more apropos.
I don't have a particular example in mind. But I think the background music should be from the "reveal" in a movie, in which the villain/mastermind identifies himself.
I'm also convinced, after watching the video, that Dick Cheney shot his friend in the face on purpose.

Mariano Rivera’s entrance underscoring in the 8th inning. Everyone knew it was lights out with that blazing cutter.

As long as we are on Metallica, this performance of“Hero of the Day” with the San Francisco Orchestra is awesome. And the lyrics to the song fit our times.
James Hetfield (lead singer) said it’s about children that seek heroes of the day, walking away from the influence of their parents. The first verse sets up the whole song
:
The window burns to light the way back home
A light that warms, no matter where they've gone
They're off to find the hero of the day
But what if they should fall by someone's wicked way?
It makes me think of the struggle of modern American fathers. We watch our kids follow woke heroes that are leading them astray, using them, while at the same time vilifying us and portraying us as out of touch Homer Simpsons.
Our only hope is that they someday learn what we did. Our parents were right.
Although… you must have moral parents who love you and who won’t give up or abandon you, will welcome you home, and catch you when you fall. A lot of kids aren’t blessed with that.
And I realize this in song doesn’t fit Liz Cheney and her Darth Vader father. But it fits a lot of Dads in the MAGA America movement and their Millennial/Generation Z kids who are sent out into modern American society only to be lied to and screwed by Heroes of the Day.
Many of whom are false prophets disguised as "educators".
My God, how wonderful! Any one of those would've been epic, but the Pat Boone is above and beyond.

She does some incredible piano work. Break the song down, create the new melody, practice, memorize, then record.
Metallica is the best.

The Pat Boone and Dick Cheese versions are pretty similar, too.
Tangentially related, I am really enjoying 'The Sandman' on Netflix. I loved those comics when I was a teenager, and the show really does it justice. At least based on my recall from 25 years ago.
By far the best version is the one done by the execrable Jimmy Fallon along with James Hetfield and Fallon's house band doing Enter Sandman on kindergarten instruments.
One of the few things I can abide in late night TV is Fallon doing something musical, and the kindergarten instrument version of songs are usually good for a belly laugh. Enter Sandman brought me to tears.
Play all the covers of Bonnie Dobson's 'Morning Dew' for a real treat.
Grateful Dead
Nazareth
Robert Plant
Blackfoot
Jeff Beck Group (with Rod Stewart on vocals)
Devo
And on ....
Everyone knew it was lights out with that blazing cutter.
Except Luis Gonzalez.
A few years ago at Axpona – a high end audio show in the Chicago area – I heard Metallica’s Enter Sandman on a system that would have cost well over a million dollars. The main speakers were Wilson audio towers that were as ugly as sin but the sound was great! Every once in a while I play that track on my home theatre system to shake the cobwebs off my Hsu Research subwoofer.
Oh, and all those other versions sound awful to me.

Much more proficient at playing than I will ever be, but she was lip syncing with her hands in that video and for whatever reason the parts that were out of sync really bothered me. I don't doubt that she was playing the music in the soundtrack, I don't doubt that she was playing the same song during the video, but even so...
How about a Hunter Biden "You Shook Me All Night Long" video montage? High end hookers, his nine (9) inch penis, crap pipes, doing lines off naked asses...sister-in-law, bullshit artwork. The dude is living that song.
You could easily fill 3.5 Minutes.
How the fuck do you stop the player?

When Tony Blair was PM, the band once played that as his car arrived at Westminster for the State Opening. I believe it was after he fell from favor, but not office, and became Bush's poodle.
