DeSantis, who recently debuted a performative tough-guy “Top Gov” campaign ad with himself as “Maverick,” has long taken aim at Fauci to burnish his MAGA credentials.
Last year, for instance, he began hawking “Don’t Fauci My Florida” merch as coronavirus cases spiked in his state. Fauci, meanwhile, has been the target of countless death threats. A man who said he wanted to break every bone in Fauci’s “disgusting elf skull” was recently sentenced to three years in prison.
I'll just do a poll:
In October 2011, Ritch Workman, a Republican member of the Florida House of Representatives, introduced legislation that would overturn the ban on dwarf-tossing, claiming such a ban to be an "unnecessary burden on the freedom and liberties of people" and "an example of Big Brother government." Although not a personal advocate of the activity, Workman stated "if a little person wants to make a fool out of themselves for money, they should have the same right to do so as any average sized person."

Short people got no reason
Short people got no reason
Short people got no reason to live
[Verse 1]
They got little hands, little eyes
They walk around tellin' great big lies
They got little noses, tiny little teeth
They wear platform shoes on their nasty little feet
[Chorus]
Well, I don't want no short people
Don't want no short people
Don't want no short people ‘round here
[Bridge]
(Short people are just the same as you and I)
A fool such as I
(All men are brothers until the day they die)
It's a wonderful world
[Chorus]
Short people got nobody
Short people got nobody
Short people got nobody to love
[Verse 2]
They got little baby legs, they stand so low
You got to pick 'em up just to say hello
They got little cars that go beep, beep, beep
They got little voices goin' peep, peep, peep
They got grubby little fingers and dirty little minds
They're gonna get you every time
[Chorus]
Well, I don't want no short people
Don't want no short people
Don't want no short people 'round here

This is nothing compared to what is said about Trump, which is not only accepted but amplified and rewarded on a daily basis.
I don't want to hear any outrage from the left about improper speech until they deal with their own issues.
#CivilityBullshit
Fauci and his followers wanted to paint DeSantis as a baby killer and a granny killer. He's been called "Death Santis". Rebecca Jones won her Dem primary for Congress. I don't think "elf" is out of line.
And chucking him across the Potomac is to get him out of Washington. Not "into" the Potomac. Across it.
What do you with someone who helped fund the virus then lied about it.
re: dwarf tossing
Will Tripp: Pissed Off Attorney at Law
Will Tripp is a sardonic, profane, no BS lawyer who’s devoted his career to fighting lunatic leftists and obnoxious PC enthusiasts everywhere. He is also a dwarf, which he uses to befuddle and disarm his victim-obsessed opponents at every turn. (In fact, he chose his career path while in law school, enraged by the liberal do-gooders who cost him the beloved job that was helping him pay his way through – getting tossed at a local bar).
Recommended.
Ron DeSantis is has been running Florida very well.
Fauci's bad choices and unprofessional behavior as far back as 1986 should have kicked him to the curb.
And Fauci has said far worse before select audiences.
If it was Biden, I’d assume to person that he wanted to chuck across the Potomac was a reporter or voter that dare question his actions,
Forgotten is the Bernie Bro who showed up to a congressional
team sport to shoot and kill.. No words. Just attempted murder. Now suddenly the left care about free speech as it pertains to an obvious joke about throwing a troll who lied about gain of function and all sorts of other things like poo pooing anything that worked over the enrichment of Pfizer?
Throw the elf into the river!
Suspect in congressional shooting was Bernie Sanders supporter, strongly anti-Trump
Only leftwing progressives(D) are allowed to call you names, threaten, commit violence and cancel you. Only white leftists are allowed to group together call themselves Antifa - and burn police stations and take over whole city blocks in Portland - for your own good.
Only the left can call you a Nazi. Only the left can joke about your death. See Behar and late night NBC(D) talk show hosts.
The liar elf troll - worshiped blindly by the left - will haul in 350,000 a year in tax payer funded retirement money.
Throw the elf into the river!
Other options should be "I don't know," "I don't care," and "Meh. Politics as usual."
It's certainly undignified, but one would have to decide whether this is a call to violence or just a joke. Also, whether Fauci's actions still entitle him to "short privilege" or whether he lost it through his actions. I think it's a joke, and Fauci deserves snarkiness at this point. Probably, DeSantis shouldn't have said it, but one has to call out all public figures who make similar comments or condemnation of him looks politically motivated.
Peter Dinklage will probably complain, if he can spare the time from taking work away from other short people.
Fauci's actions have killed thousands of people. He has so much blood on his hands that he will go down in history along with Pfizer execs and other evil shitheads.
He deserves many bad things. He is an evil piece of shit.
Fauci didn't threaten to kill people.
He killed people.
At minimum he belongs in jail.
Millions of people and he knew the source of the epidemic
DeSantis' deplorable name-calling and adolescent threats of physical violence further degrades the level of public discourse by public officials in the USA...already in a dismal state. It shows DeSantis' poor character, and that he is just another opportunistic thug.
No, he is too old to be throw. However a dunking stool would work fine. Relatives of those who died in NY and NJ nursing homes go to the front of the line to dunk the malignant dwarf.
The Left owns the media, the institutions, academia, intel, etc.
We are permitted to chuck a few elves. Hell, chuck 'em all.
Chuck you, Fauci.
While it is "fun" to debate what to call Fauci and what not to call him, I think it is more important to consider exactly what has happened, what is known, and what is unknown.
This podcast with RFK Jr interviewing Jeffrey Sachs is quite sobering:
https://pca.st/f4qhwghp
Well worth the time.
I think he was misquoted, and what he actually said was "that little f" (as in "that little f**k").
Also, lest you think calling Fauci an elf warrants a three year jail term, the individual in question plead to sending emails to Fauci for a seven month period of time threatening to harm and/or kill Dr. Fauci and members of his family, as well as sending threats to the former Director of the NIH, the Assistant Secretary for Health at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, as well as a Massachusetts public health official and a religious leader. He admitted to doing so with the intent to intimidate or interfere with the performance of their official duties and with the intent to retaliate against Dr. Fauci and Dr. Collins for performing their official duties. In two of these emails, he referred to Fauci as an elf ("sickening elf visage" and "satanic elf skull").
So no, this is not precedent for jailing DeSantis.
Fauci shouldn't be chucked across the Potomac, he should be tossed into it. In a sack. A weighted one.
I loathe Fauci, and throwing him in the Potomac is too good for him, but the gratuitous insult about his height is out of line. I get the Dwarf Tossing thing, but I think it's still a rare unforced error by Desantis.
This is a Trumpish comment by DeSantis.
Not really his style. He’s also only average height, unlike Trump who is about 6’2”.
DeSantis should stick to his style and his record.
Actually "across the Potomac" is pretty clever, because it conjures up the Young George Washington legends about throwing silver dollars and then you think of cherry trees and "cannot tell a lie" as a nice contrast to Fauci's constant lies.
LOL - Robert Cook - care to recall when leftists openly and near constantly call for violence against people who dare disagree with the left?
In the case of a Bernie Bro - that violence actually happened.
Also - tossing an elf across the river doesn't mean he dies. He just gets tossed.
Toss the tosser! Oh but the left always find their collective outrage when the poor Gain of Function funding Chi Com lab virus leftist creep is mocked.
What about tar and feathers?
That asshole elf asked for it.
Just like the law - the rules of engagement apply differently depending on the party.
Let's not get distracted by Fauci's substandard physical manifestation.
What Americans need to be focusing on right now is whether Fauci should be sent to island somewhere, wrapped in heavy chains or if he should simply be taken out past the continental shelf and dropped over the rail.
Robert Cook: " It shows DeSantis' poor character, and that he is just another opportunistic thug."
Another among so very many people that I am guessing Robert Cook loves.
Fauci is a war criminal who can't get on all the Disneyland rides.
Robert Cook: "DeSantis' deplorable name-calling..."
Leftist suddenly declares "name-calling" a deplorable thing.
Has Robert Cook ever declared "name-calling" by any democratical "deplorable"?
I suspect the answer is no.
It's not Trump's style. Kim wasn't fat or short. He was rocket man.
What about tar and feathers?
I like it. A good stop gap measure while we gin up public support for chopping him into little pieces and burying him alive.

"LOL - Robert Cook - care to recall when leftists openly and near constantly call for violence against people who dare disagree with the left?"
Are you talking about "leftist" politicians, (the few there are), are you talking about among the public? If the former, who are they and what remarks? I'm sure I would deplore similar comments by Democrat public officials.
The public are the public, and there is no expectation they abide by a certain decorum. There is no point in castigating members of the public for their childish utterances. For the governor of a state to make such a needless and adolescent remark about another public official is disgraceful to himself and to his office. It's also hollow posturing, given that Fauci has already announced he is leaving his post. There was no point or purpose for DeSantis' remark other than to earn brownie points among the more thuggish-minded of his current (and potential) supporters. These are fascistic tactics.
Fauci is a megalomaniac with a god complex. He lied to the American public and the world in regards to his funding and involvement in the gain of function testing going on at the Wuhan lab that created the COVID virus. Rand Paul is 100% right.
He pushed a fake and dangerous experimental mRNA shot on the American public and outwardly lied about its safety and effectiveness. He also lied about the effectiveness of masks in preventing viral spread. He only wore his masks for the cameras.
Dwarf tossing him over the Potomac is soft compared to what he really deserves. We should also bring back the cucking stool used to dunk witches in the middle ages, and strap Deborah Birx in for a truth telling ride.
They’re always after his Lucky Pharms.
"DeSantis' deplorable name-calling and adolescent threats of physical violence further degrades the level of public discourse by public officials in the USA..."
But calling your opponent a Nazi, claiming a candidate caused someone to die from cancer, and claiming that a pol's supporters are domestic terrorist threats to society are all perfectly acceptable - right Robert?
I despise Fauci and think he's done immeasurable harm to Americans and to the reputation of the healthcare system. And I think he deserves harsh criticism - he needs to be called out publicly. But no need to stoop to this level to do it.
Bad look for him. We'll need this guy in the future, he should do better.
I find it interesting that you and others interpret "little elf" to mean "short." I hear the governor referring to him as "small minded." I mean the guy was captain of his high school basketball team - are you really sure that he's short?
He's clearly a narrow, small-minded person. See, for example, this list of characteristics for narrow-minded people, it describes Dr. Fauci accurately. https://iheartintelligence.com/traits-narrow-minded-peope/
Someone like this sees himself as the very personification of truth and righteousness - to disagree with him is an evil treason.
My friends who were very active in the Human Rights Campaign all tell me Dr. Fauci was terrible on AIDS/HIV and saw him repeating the same mistakes with regard to Covid-19. They were pissed that he was being lionized because he was perceived as anti-Trump.
"LOL - Robert Cook - care to recall when leftists openly and near constantly call for violence against people who dare disagree with the left?"
I am glad you consider DeSantis no different in importance or station than an internet troll.
He funded gain of function research.
He should be in prison forever.
Recall Rand Paul's neighbor jumped Mr. Paul and inflicted permanent damage and bodily harm to him?
The collective left cheered the neighbor, Robert Cook.
I wanted the poll to have more choices. “Poisonous troll” and “unctuous human tumor” come to mind but I am confident you could do better.
" A man who said he wanted to break every bone in Fauci’s “disgusting elf skull” was recently sentenced to three years in prison."
That kind of deception through partial fact telling could get you one of the newly open jobs on CNN.
I heard that Fauci was going to open a for-profit dog rescue specializing in Beagles... and tacos.

DeSantis should stick to his style and his record.
Desantis is looking more and more like Cruz and Walker in 2016 and Romney in 2012. He is listening to the same consultants.
Desantis isn't comfortable being himself. This is a flaw that is pervasive among career politicians.
Relentless Ronald Rodham.
I think we can all agree it’s all good fun when we do it but an incitement to a second Civil War when they do it.
so,
was this Desantis guy, the guy that held up a bloody, severed (plastic) head of Dr Fraudci?
was he the guy, that showed a pic of Dr Fraudci with the caption: Snipers Wanted?
or was he the guy, that went to Fraudci's softball game, and tried to execute him?
oh Wait! i know!
he was the guy flew cross country (with a rifle), planning on shooting DrFraudci in his own home?
...chuck him across the Potomac
What did the people on the other side of the Potomac ever do to Ron DeSantis?
Calling St. Fauci an elf is polite. I would have gone with goblin.
Mr Wibble said...
Fauci shouldn't be chucked across the Potomac, he should be tossed into it. In a sack. A weighted one.
The Potomac is already too polluted.
you are making a mountain out of an elf hill, and all your options skew to your righteousness.
Compare with Schumer, for example, in disgusting, dangerous speech.
(have you never polled his speech?)
In the case of a Bernie Bro - that violence actually happened.
True, but show me one major politician who encouraged the violence.
I’d prefer tossing him in jail… why’s it okay to say that but not say Chuck him across the Potomac?
Toss the tosser! Oh but the left always find their collective outrage when the poor Gain of Function funding Chi Com lab virus leftist creep is mocked.
Well, that is flat out defamation. Rand Paul can get away with it because of the "speech and debate clause", but last I checked you are not a member of congress.
DeSantis should have demanded a forensic accounting of all of Fauci's dealings with NIH, the transnational NGOs he's been working with, and all the kickbacks from the pharmaceutical industry that have flowed.
Juxtapose those findings with his past decisions, and the evidence ought to be quite clear who Fauci has been working for, and it sure as hell isn't the citizens of these formerly United States.
Just about every agency in the Federal government needs to be cleared out, audited, and then shut down. They don't actually accomplish anything they're supposed to, and all the billions upon billions of dollars we lavish on the do-nothing jobsworthies like Fauci just get wasted.
His handling of the AIDS crisis should have gotten him fired. The fact that that useless twit was still in a position of power? Ludicrous, and it just shows how badly Congress is doing the job it is supposed to be doing per the Constitution. Fauci has screwed up so many times and in so many different ways--Look at the early days of COVID, wherein the people sent to Japan to assess the cruise liner full of exposed people showed up without training or proper PPE, and then pumped those exposed passengers back into the US with such disgraceful speed and lack of coherence. Look at how they shut down that doctor who was doing epidemiological studies in Seattle and found early signs that COVID was here in the US...
The CDC has been FUBAR for a very long time, along with NIH and the poor bastards at USAMRIID. I used to work around a microbiologist Army officer who worked out there back during the mid-1990s, and his epic tales of backstabbing bureaucracy were food for thought. Ran into him again, after 2001, and it was interesting how his predictions about how well they'd do responding to things like Ebola and the Anthrax attacks played out. He was spot on in predicting ineffectual idiocy, sloth, and bureaucratic infighting ruling the day.
He had a white paper he'd done up, that he let me read, and which detailed the sort of things that real "public health" organizations should be doing in this modern era, like monitoring and testing at all the local hospitals here in the US, and doing "disease intelligence" internationally. None of the things he recommended have ever been implemented, and likely won't be until well after it's too damn late. Yet, we spend billions on this stuff already, and got blindsided by COVID. Which we damn sure should have known about, since the NIH was paying for the research that more than likely produced it...
There is no amount of public scorn that would be undeserved at this point.
It hard to even fathom or absorb the depth of the crime that Fauci helped commit upon the world and especially the American public.
1) He and Gates helped fund the gain of function testing being conducted in the Wuhan lab. Gain of Function testing is one of those should we, not can we scientific questions. No, you fucking shouldn't. It's dangerous and unnecessary. It's Dr. Frankenstein bullshit.
2) Fauci goes along with the "COVID came from batsoup" at the Wuhan Wet market bullshit story, even though the wet market was open again by April or May 2020. What did they do? Wipe is down with a little bleach?
3) Fauci LIEd to Congress about the gain of function testing. He knows Rand Paul is right, and has the goods on him.
4) Fauci rolls around in his new found authority and celebrity. His hubris grows, even to the point where he stated publicly, "to question me, is to question science itself".
If the little elf can't stand this itty bitty amount of heat, he should never have entered the kitchen.
1) Desantis could have done better, but this isn't beyond the pale.
2) The Daily Beast, and Robert Cook, need to let go of their pearls.
If Facui is an elf I guess that makes DeSantis Thorin II Oakenshield?
Not all elves are mini mischievous odd looking creatures. Orlando Bloom is an elf. As is Evangeline Lilly.
I voted yes, it's colorful speech and it's not a call for violence. That's just silly. But my actual answer is I'd prefer he didn't because it's unnecessary and undignified. Maybe "he's embarrassing himself" is closer to my real answer, but I don't want to give credence to the claim that what he did was wrong. I'd just prefer he didn't.
One of the middle two choices. While it is close to the classic “toss em out of office” phrase it is presupposing Fauci will need help leaving. In the current climate of real violence and hot rhetoric he can and should do better. Freaking close call though for many of us despise Fauci for his dishonesty and shitty leadership when we needed better. If he and Biden WERE both pledging open fealty to China what would they have done differently? Close to nothing.
‘DeSantis' deplorable name-calling and adolescent threats of physical violence further degrades the level of public discourse by public officials in the USA…’
That’s cute, Cookie - thanks for the laugh!
Faucus delenda est.
So 5' 9" Ron DeSantis is calling 5' 7" Tony Fauci a dwarf. I guess Breslin's famous comment about "a small man in search of a balcony" has changed to "in search of a measuring stick."
Medical Definition of dwarf: Sometimes considered offensive, a person of unusually small stature especially, a person whose height does not exceed 4 feet 10 inches and is typically less than 4 feet 5 inches.
I think that tossing the 79-year-old Fauci across the room, no matter how tall he is, is a threat worth investigating. DeSantis needs to abandon his ape-Trump mode and desist playing to bigots and wallowing in their muck.
"This is a Trumpish comment by DeSantis."
I agree. It's a carefully selected soundbite to attract the Trumpist vote in the primaries, if Trump decides not to run. (I don't think DeSantis will run if Trump runs.)
DeSantis would like Trumpists to see him as Trump's natural successor.
He risks alienating some centrists in the general election, but probably reasons that by then, Fauci's stock will have sunk so low that few will regard him as a sympathetic figure, and so the media won't bother reshowing it.
But DeSantis doesn't have Trump's talent for humor, so he should probably stick to being cruel to people who everybody naturally loathes, like the media. His own talent is portraying competence, possibly even actually possessing competence, and there's plenty of GOP voters who have had enough of Trump's dog and pony show. So just enough aping Trump to nail down the nomination with the Trumpists, but don't try to be Trump 2.0.
“Only leftwing progressives(D) are allowed to call you names, threaten, commit violence and cancel you. Only white leftists are allowed to group together call themselves Antifa - and burn police stations and take over whole city blocks in Portland - for your own good.”
“Only the left can call you a Nazi. Only the left can joke about your death. See Behar and late night NBC(D) talk show hosts.”
This is Alenski, pure and simple. And I think that DeSantis has read his book. Fauci has killed too many people. Caused too much pain. He needs to be out of DC and out of a decision making position. We, his base, know what he meant here, and many, if not most, think it funny. And all the libs taking it literally, and getting scandalized at it, just makes it more delicious for us. And gets a lot more play as a result. The best thing that they could have done, was to ignore it. But they couldn’t help but get scandalized, and that spread it nationwide. For a tactic to work, it has to be fun for your base. This qualifies. It also emphasizes that he was one of the most effective governors opposing Fauci and his idiotic and deadly actions. What’s Chriss going to say? How horrible that DeSantis would say something like this? That just reminds FL voters that DeSantis saved lives, and that Chriss probably wouldn’t have. Best thing that he could do is ignore it. I don’t think that he can. (Big) advantage DeSantis.
How dare anyone vilify Fauci. Of course, the same people saying this are actively trying to provoke the assassination of Trump.
It shows DeSantis' poor character, and that he is just another opportunistic thug.
I knew Cook would have his reasons for hating anyone to the right of Lenin.
I think Fauci is "retiring" to avoid questions from the new Congress after January. He has much to answer for as does that whole FDA/NIH crowd.
What he should have said was that Fauci was a "Cotton-headed Ninny Muggins."
I've noticed that it's usually not-very-tall guys who make jibes about other men's height.
I topped out early at 6'1"--the shortest of four brothers. OTOH, some short guys really do compensate with egoism and assholery.
Trump and Desantis can be hard to watch, but Fauci's arrogance and self-regard are off the charts. Too much adulation for much too long.
"Should DeSantis be calling Fauci a "little elf" and envisioning a violent action against him?"
No. Idle threats are a sign of weakness.
He should invite the Mini Mengele to Florida and then have the Florida State Police arrest him for murdering all those people in those nursing homes.
Republicans need to stop threatening to do something and fucking DO IT.
This week on The Bachelorette, Rachel was scheduled for three home-town dates -- one of which was with Tyler, who is rather short. Rachel went to Tyler's home town and walked around with him there, but then she decided not to visit Tyler's family. She broke up with him, got into the producers' van and rode away.
Tyler's family and the camera crew were in the home, waiting for Tyler and Rachel to come visit. Tyler came alone and told them sadly that Rachel had departed, that he would not visit them.
This was the first time on the show that this happened.
Rachel herself had selected Tyler as one of her three home-town dates. While they walked around in his home town, he was charming and loving. So, why did she change her mind about him?
I think a major reason was that she decided belatedly that he is too short for her. She herself is rather short, and they looked like a well-matched couple in that regard.
However, her other two home-town dates are rather tall. I think they look too tall for her, but she apparently has decided that her future husband must be tall.
======
Also, she perhaps figured out that Tyler and his family do not have much money. She saw that he works in a carnival.
Although she herself did not see Tyler's family and his family home, the television viewers saw them, and they looked low-class.
======
One of the two villains in the movie Dirty Dancing is Neil Kellerman. The movie script even specifies that he is rather short, and the actor indeed is rather short.
(The movie's other villain is Robbie Gould, who is played by a rather tall actor.)
======
Being a short man is a social disadvantage -- and is perceived by some people to be a moral failing.

If DeSantis needs any help tossing that little Elf... let me know. After all the Potomac is a pretty big river.
Remember this?
UPI: Vice President George Bush, thinking he was speaking privately, declared Friday that 'we tried to kick a little ass' in his debate with Geraldine Ferraro.
Bush made the remark after a rally on a New Jersey dock while he was talking to a union official.
A camera crew from WNEW-TV in New York City picked up his comment with a long microphone. The audio portion of the tape, played back for reporters, picked up the vice president's words: 'We tried to kick a little ass last night.'
Then, as he noticed the microphone, Bush grinned and said, 'Oh, God, he heard me. Turn that thing off.'
“DeSantis' deplorable name-calling and adolescent threats of physical violence further degrades the level of public discourse by public officials in the USA...already in a dismal state. It shows DeSantis' poor character, and that he is just another opportunistic thug.”
But Joe Beiden, who wanted to take Trump out behind the stands and beat him up, Is just a normal good person.
Hypocrites are the most deplorable.
DeSantis should stick to being DeSantis, not Trump.
"This is a Trumpish comment by DeSantis"
I really don't think that's his intention.
As narratives crumble, yesterday's heroes become today's villains. Adolescent trannies, the way COVID was handled, the validity of the 2020 election-all the Establishment narratives will, in time, erode to the point where no serious person will repeat them with a straight face.
DeSantis is very good at recognizing the beginning of that point and then pouncing.
But wouldn't a "national emergency" be grounds enough to toss the little elf Fauci across the Potomac? It seems to be sufficient reason for everything else.
Five or six years before Anthony Fauci was appointed head of the NAID Bobby Bare had a country song "Drop Kick Me Jesus Through The Goalposts Of Life".
Bare counseled that he wanted to go end over end through them righteous uprights and neither to the left nor the right.
Little Tony should have heeded that counsel. He's an arrogant narcissist who has claimed that he is "science"--the secular left's God.
Now way too many people who have suffered under Fauci's thumb, diktats and such simply want to drop kick Fauci. Maybe over the Potomac--maybe just down the stairs of a federal office building. But he has earned a good deal of anger, outrage and contempt.
Cookie: "Name calling is bad, you opportunistic thug!"
Which is similar to the lefty mantra: "Don't judge people, you racist Nazi homophobic bigot!"
I can only assume Cookie was having us on....
That little elf murdered thousands of Americans
Between his constant lying, constant politicization, and holier than thou attitudes he's consistently been one of the greatest threats to American public health in history.
He screwed up the AIDS response, he screwed up the Covid response, and he screwed up the monkeypox response
in a just world he'd be lynched
Freeman Hunt @12:50
Get out of my mind.
Considering all the damage that smarmy, lying, little elf has caused this nation, DeSantis is being kind.
Never forget ... Fauci threw out the first pitch at a Nationals game wearing a fucking mask ... only to be caught later during the same game sitting between two people maskless.
That shithead should've been kicked to the curb 30 years ago.
‘I think that tossing the 79-year-old Fauci across the room, no matter how tall he is, is a threat worth investigating.’
The comedy is off the charts today! Tip the veal…
Alinsky's Rules for Radicals:
5. "Ridicule is man's most potent weapon. There is no defense. It is almost impossible to counterattack ridicule. Also it infuriates the opposition, who then react to your advantage."
DeSantis is playing by the rules, I'd say.
"Thank You Falettinme Be Mice Elf Agin."
Isn't this post the very epitome of civility bullshit?
Your own choice seems well-signaled by your options list. Needs a "yes, it's a signal of muscular push-back against the Covidian cult and wokery in general."
"But Joe Beiden, who wanted to take Trump out behind the stands and beat him up, Is just a normal good person."
Not in the least. He's a loathsome creep like DeSantis, also posturing for the untouchables among his supporters.(Does Biden actually have any supporters, as opposed to Trump-haters who voted for any living body available as the alternative?)
You need a version of option 1, where the violence isn't metaphorical and is still ok. This man funded gain of function research in a wholly irresponsible manner that released the virus into the world, and the virus and the Fauci-led lockdown reaction to the virus cost millions of lives and trillions of dollars in chaotic economic damage, and unimaginable loss of faith in the institutions of Western Civilization.
So yeah, non-metaphorical violence is ok by me. It can be after a fair trial, preferably.
gadfly The Hopeless: "I think that tossing the 79-year-old Fauci across the room, no matter how tall he is, is a threat worth investigating."
Of course you do!! That's pretty much all you democraticals do now, isn't it?
Is anyone else enjoying the meltdown on the part of the NeverTrump neo-con losers who simply will not abide such (harrumph! Harrumph!) poor manners on the part of DeSantis against the NeverTrump earthly "god" Lord Fauci?
It is truly something to behold.
Of course, Team NeverTrump/NeverRepublican/AlwaysDemocratical is working their way methodically through the entire list of viable conservative candidates in order to end up precisely where they want to be: supporting AnyDem in 2024.
And that's exactly where they will end up........and not a single breathing human will be surprised that these FauxCons in-the-closet-liberal-dems come out for the dems in 2024.
DeSantis's voice is too high pitched to get away with stuff like that.
That just reminds FL voters that DeSantis saved lives, and that Chriss probably wouldn’t have. Best thing that he could do is ignore it. I don’t think that he can. (Big) advantage DeSantis.
Saved lives?! How do figure that? Florida has the fourteenth highest death rate from Covid, lower than New Jersey but a little higher than New York (which you claim completely fucked up the response), and there are plenty of reasons why you would expect NY and NJ to have much higher death rates than FL (which you claim completely fucked up the response). And that is even if you think that Florida reported accurately.
Like Trump, DeSantis spews bullshit and you believe him.
(Does Biden actually have any supporters, as opposed to Trump-haters who voted for any living body available as the alternative?)
Good point, Cook. I think there were enough gifters and Democrats who wanted to be on the take to make up a significant percentage. Not 81 million, of course. Zuckerbucks paid off the rest.

It's a variation of the worn out political stunt Candid Comment Caught on a Hot Mic, the variation being DeSantis doesn't give a fuck about pretending the candid comment wasn't intended to be heard.
there are plenty of reasons why you would expect NY and NJ to have much higher death rates than FL
I'm curious what those reasons would be. Due to a much higher percentage of over 65 people you would expect Florida to have a higher death rate. Same thing with What am I missing?
Dog bites man is not news.

Florida has the fourteenth highest death rate from Covid
I am sure that Florida has the highest percentage of old people.
And that is even if you think that Florida reported accurately.
Hilarious. Questions Florida's numbers but not New York's.
and there are plenty of reasons why you would expect NY and NJ to have much higher death rates than FL
If there are plenty, why didn't you name any? Maybe you could compare the median age of New Yorkers vs Floridians. Florida. You know. That place where New Yorkers go to retire? That's one, perfectly good reason why Florida's numbers should be higher. But they aren't.
DeSantis did it right. Cuomo did not. The numbers prove it.
And all your whining won't change it.
I am sure that Florida has the highest percentage of old people.
Actually, you are wrong, it is Maine (Florida is #5)
racist Nazi homophobic bigot
What is diversity, authoritarianism, projection through transphobic inclusion, and sanctimonious hypocrisy.
I am sure that Florida has the highest percentage of old people.
Neither planned parent/hood nor excess deaths outside of a particular cohort.

Cuomo did fudge the numbers, but he got caught and had to revise them.
DeSantis did it right. Cuomo did not. The numbers prove it.
How do the numbers prove it? Death rates are practically the same.
If there are plenty, why didn't you name any?
Because I thought you could work that out for yourself. But two major factors are climate (NY is a hell of a lot colder) and population density (NYC is the most densely populated city in the country, where a little less than half the population of the entire state lives).
Maybe you could compare the median age of New Yorkers vs Floridians. Florida. You know. That place where New Yorkers go to retire?
Here is the median age (FL 42.7, NY 39.4). I'll go further and provide percent of population over 65 (FL 20.1, barely beating out Maine for first, NY 16.1)
Florida. You know. That place where New Yorkers go to retire?
Think about it, if you can afford to buy a condo at Del Bocca Vista, that means you are at least solidly middle class (sorry but I couldn't find a source for net worth for older Americans by state. Consequently, you have better underlying health and can afford better care. If you are not very well off, well then you are stuck with cold winters. Look at the states with the highest death rates, they had policies similar to Florida.
Sigh.....my preferred option isn't there- actually chucking Gnome Fauci into the Potomac.
I would have gone with "toxic gnome" myself.
"and there are plenty of reasons why you would expect NY and NJ to have much higher death rates than FL (which you claim completely fucked up the response). And that is even if you think that Florida reported accurately."
Dumb Fuck Freder at it again. The most important metric on mortality from COVID is the numbers of people over the age of 65. Median age in Florida is almost 3.5 years higher in the Florida than in New York, and 2.5 years higher than in New Jersey. The other demographics also favor New York and New Jersey- more white people, more Asians, fewer blacks, and fewer Hispanics.
Some time back there was an article in The New Yorker that chronicled Fauci's career. The gay community had a lot of complaints about him during the early stages of the AIDS epidemic. They expressed their complains about him with many inventive tactics and insults. Fauci, to his credit, reached out to the gay community and changed a fair number of CDC policies in order to redress those complaints....It's instructive to note that Fauci did not take offense at those complaints and tactics. nor did any on the left.....I disagree with the insult. The argument should be about Fauci's policies, not his height, but Fauci is far from the most criticized man in public life.....Here's a few tepid words in Fauci's favor. I think he was wrong about a lot of things, but there's a difference between being wrong and being malicious. He should not displace Cuomo as the star villain of the Covid drama.
The other demographics also favor New York and New Jersey- more white people, more Asians, fewer blacks, and fewer Hispanics.
Please provide a link for this assertion.

I see Epidemiologist Freder has weighed with some of his wisdom. DeSantis took a chance and went with the "Great Barrington Declaration," written by real epidemiologists, rather than by bureaucrats like Birx and Fauci. He kept the state, and the schools, mostly open and did not wreck the economy like Birx did.
Florida has an older population yet did as well with his policies as states with better demographics. Sweden pretty much mirrored Florida and also did well.
It's probably too late to point out that he called him an Elf, not a Dwarf. Elves get played by Orlando Bloom, Liv Tyler, and that really cute Canadian lass (Evelyn something?) about whom Craig Ferguson keeps saying "isn't she just adorable?"
Dwarves get played by Peter Dinklage.
So it's not really an insult.

The big killer was vaccine side effects. Of course, the CDC tried to hide them by the way they counted, or didn’t count, the side effects. But the excess deaths, esp from insurance companies, are going to show the real situation, and it’s ugly. DeSantis did whatever he could to eliminate stupid vaccine mandates, along with providing therapeutics.
If you think that I am wrong about the dangers of the vaccines, please explain the mechanisms involved that would actually make people less likely to become sick, as a result of the 2nd and subsequent jabs? I don’t think that you can - since the FDA, CDC, etc have continued to heavily push 2nd and subsequent jabs, despite the patients’ immune system was previously mimprinted with the knowledge of the two archaic spike proteins.
Well, there goes that Bulwark endorsement.
Evangeline Lilly...
Not what Fauci makes me think of, but one really hot elf.
"Please provide a link for this assertion."
Just this one time, Freder, but start using the internet the way it was meant to be used.
And, oh, I can already anticipate your reply- Florida has a very large population of mixed white and hispanic population, much more so than New York where white always means white. It is the land of George Zimmerman, after all.
Epidemiologist Freder doesn't need your stinkin data. He knows that Trump and DeSantis must be wrong. Just like Inga but with less thought.
This is why I hate moderation.
One last try- Blogger seems to eat too many links these days.
Link 1 New York
Link 2 Florida
@Freder
Some quick facts for you.
Cold vs warm weather doesn't hold. Of the the top 13 states by death per 100k only two are above the Mason Dixon line (NJ and MI).
FL is #2 in % of people over 65 per the 2020 census with 4.7m (21.3%). NY #24 with 3.4m (17.4%), and NJ #30 with 1.5m (17.0%). As you can see FL (79.5k deaths = 735/100k) has 1.3m more people over 65 than NY (70.2k deaths = 797/100k) and 3.2m more than NJ (34.5k deaths = 834/100k).
Percentage of deaths by race isn't a huge factor. Slightly higher in hispanics, slightly lower in caucasians. Insignificant in blacks.
Given the huge differences between these states in the at risk populations and the fact that 80% of covid deaths are from people over 65 you would expect a much higher number of deaths and deaths per 100k in Florida. You should be able to do the math on that. It would be hard to argue in good faith that FL didn't outperform both NY and NJ for the at risk population.
The stats on excess deaths (delayed medical treatment, suicide rates, etc) are hard to figure, but by most metrics FL performs in at least the top 10. Economic harm from business closures, childhood harm school closures, and other factors should be included in any discussion of how well a state did also.
It's pretty obvious that policies put in place by DeSantis outperformed those of both NY and NJ in deaths, economic outcome, and child development.
Given that the installed president just called half the country semi fascists, and Hillary called us deplorables....why ISN"T it okay to call Fauci what he looks like?? We have been called Nazi's, barbarians, whacko birds, and numerous other nasty names by people LIKE Fauci, so cry me a freaking river....even the Potomac.

So 5' 9" Ron DeSantis is calling 5' 7" Tony Fauci a dwarf.
No, bonehead, he's calling him an "elf"
Who are usually tall, willowy, and pretty
Entirely unlike dwarfs
I know you have to be leftist, but do you really have to always be stupid and ignorant, too?
At least he didn't call him a fairy.
