The latest Orwellian word redefinition being pushed by Democrats is an effort to redefine "recession". High School economics teaches you a recession is two consecutive quarters of negative GDP. A depression is four consecutive quarters. Obviously the second quarter 2022 data about to be released will show we are in a text book recession. One that could have been avoided.

They've redefined "vaccine" to fit mRNA in the mix. The definition of a "woman" thing is just insane. "Illegal" is now "undocumented". Guess it all comes down to what the definition of the word "is" is...right?

How do lifelong Democrats go along an swallow this shit? At some point don't you start feeling stupid? Or is that masked by the condescension and unqualified arrogance?

And then he didn't.

Well, maybe some good can come out of it if Tony Dow is told, while he is still here, about all the love and affection coming his way today.

Jaq म्हणाले...

The rumors of Tony Dow’s demise are somewhat exaggerated, he is in hospice. We should do the whole obituary thing for him while he is still alive, so he can see it, like Huckleberry Finn.

Wisconsin disabled voters file federal lawsuit over voting and absentee ballots
The federal lawsuit follows a Wisconsin Supreme Court ruling that prohibits absentee ballot drop boxes and only the voter can return their absentee ballot in person to a clerk's office or a designated site.

Gavin Newsom's plan to save the Constitution by trolling the Supreme Court

"California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) signed a law on Friday modeled after Texas’s anti-abortion law SB 8 — the Texas law which uses private lawsuits to target abortion providers. But there’s one important difference between the two state laws: California’s new law sends these litigious bounty hunters against gun dealers who sell certain guns, including assault weapons and weapons with no serial number.

It’s a high-stakes gambit that will test whether the Supreme Court actually meant what it said in Whole Woman’s Health v. Jackson (2021), which held that because of SB 8’s unique style of enforcement, it was immune from meaningful judicial review — and thus would take effect despite very strong arguments that the law was unconstitutional at the time.

Shortly after Jackson was decided last December, Newsom announced that he disagrees with the Supreme Court’s conclusion that states can dodge judicial review of unconstitutional laws. But Newsom also said that, if the Court’s Republican-appointed majority would give this power to states, then he would use it to limit access to firearms.
"

I'm not a lawyer, but doesn't it boil down to 'underlying right' as in one not to be abridged per the Second Amendment, as opposed to no underlying right, despite the protestations of the pro-abortion crowd?

“We would just be sending in ‘fake’ electoral votes to Pence so that ‘someone’ in Congress can make an objection when they start counting votes, and start arguing that the ‘fake’ votes should be counted,” Jack Wilenchik, a Phoenix-based lawyer who helped organize the pro-Trump electors in Arizona, wrote in a Dec. 8, 2020, email to Boris Epshteyn, a strategic adviser for the Trump campaign.

In a follow-up email, Mr. Wilenchik wrote that “‘alternative’ votes is probably a better term than ‘fake’ votes,” adding a smiley face emoji.

Speaking of recession, my second quarter statement for a small 401 I have shows, for the first time since I retired in 2015, a substantial loss--8 or 9 %. We've had a few negative quarters before but only a point or two at most.

Pelosi is about to go to Taiwan with GOP Neocon support to poke China in the eye. Our gov't already helped cause a war in Ukraine by pushing NATO unnecessarily eastward toward Russia.

It's sad the only issue receiving bipartisan support in our federal government is funding war with American Tax dollars.

I don't know about you, but I don't want any young American's dying to protect our current corruption. Have you seen the aircraft carriers the Chinese are commissioning and launching? They don't seem too afraid of us or Nancy Pelosi's loose dentures & Kamala Harris' blue suit.

The market might fall, but only by people selling out.

And then where do they put their money? Looking around and seeing nowhere better, they will put their money back in.

The market as a whole should be fairly safe, but of course individual companies and industries might crash. I would not expect much growth, however. Maybe not enough growth to keep up with inflation.

Crash driver’s getaway brought to shuddering halt by 6ft emu

'...It was the culmination of a 15-minute chase through the town of Malmesbury, Wiltshire, which ended in a man in his 40s being arrested. Dean Wade, executive chef of the Old Bell Hotel, had given chase after hearing a “massive screech” and looking outside to see “a car careering left and right” before it smashed into a shop front. “I bolted it out of the hotel to see if anyone needed help,” Wade, 42, said. “A man and a woman decided to hot foot it away and I thought there is no way I am letting that happen, so I decided to follow them.”'

'...“I didn’t realise the town had an emu sanctuary but [the man] starts climbing over the fence and I see the emu,” Wade said. “As a fisherman all my life I have seen swans with cygnets go for you in a massive way so I said to him, ‘Don’t go in there, look at that emu, it will do you in.’ They are massive, like 6ft tall, and their beak is about the size of your foot.

He said, ‘That emu isn’t going to do me in, I will kick the f*** out of that emu.’ The driver is throwing kung fu kicks and punches and the emu is moving its neck out of the way and jabbing him in the ribs and the head. It really must have hurt. My only regret is I didn’t have my phone in my hand to video it; the words don’t do it justice.”'

----

In Manhattan, woke DA Alvin Bragg would have arrested the emu and let the perp go on his own recognizance.

"and start arguing that the ‘fake’ votes should be counted,”

The Supreme Court in Bush v Gore pointed out that state legislatures are the ultimate arbiter of electoral votes and that the remedy for a botched election is an alternate slate of electors appointed by the state legislature. It's a master stroke of propaganda to convince so many people that following the prescription of the SCOTUS and the constitution amounts to "insurrection."

The Electoral Count Act was meant to deal with multiple slates of electors from a state. As usual, the Democrats started using it as a vehicle to raise spurious objections to perfectly valid electoral counts that they don't like, and now complain when Republicans return the favor.

However, Trump should have folded his hand when no disputed state would submit a second slate of electors since without that happening there is nothing for the VP or Congress to rule on.

I mentioned before this has implications for the implementation of the National Popular Vote. This is a potential confounder of the NPV Compact since in the situation where the candidate winning the popular vote in the state is not the NPV winner a state legislature could potentially decide to submit a slate of electors representing the winner of that vote in opposition to the actions of other Electors. The NPV, and other schemes to manipulate the Electoral Vote, only work if there is absolutely no way to review the casting of Electoral Votes.
