Sunrise.

At 4:56, I took this picture...

... while Meade took this picture of me...

These pictures are such a deep blue — with fresh, cheerful pink — but by 5:22, as the sun emerged, the colors had shifted to golden brown....

Lovely photos. It's 8:00 pm here in houston and still over 102 degrees, 92% humidity. Going outside makes me want to repent and save my soul if this is what Hell will be like.

Either the neighbors are smoking pot or there's a skunk. It didn't used to be so hard to tell the two things apart.

I streamed two French biopics, Camus, about the novelist-philosopher, and Cezanne and Me, about the lifelong friendship of the painter Cezanne and the writer Zola. Both were better than what I usually watch and were insightful about their subjects and about life in general. Camus wasn't the humanist/moralist plaster saint he's often been taken for (read closely and you may find that he was trying to tell us that). He had trouble coping with fame and success.

Cezanne, a wealthy banker's son, remained rebellious, Bohemian, troubled, and troublemaking all his life. Zola, a poor Italian widow's son, became fabulously successful writing about wretched poor people. Zola liked and sympathized with Cezanne, his friend from childhood, but was frustrated and infuriated by his behavior. He also felt guilty about his success and was a bit ashamed that he hadn't followed Cezanne's absolute commitment to his art.

You could find a feminist angle in both films. Camus treated his wife horribly and his mistress badly. Cezanne was also hard on his mistress/wife, and in time Zola must have been as well, starting a second family with a younger woman, but the relationship between the two men was more important to their lives and is more important to the movie.

I also streamed a few French mysteries and a Portuguese film about six young idiots who rent a yacht, take it out to sea, and jump off for a dip, only to find that there is no ladder to get them back on the boat. I guess it wasn't a horrible movie, but it was sort of like the idiot's version of those recent movies where people are stranded in the middle of the ocean or have to fight off sharks. I couldn't get over the idea that their troubles were their own damn fault.

What a soothing rain this morning, after your pictures. I will say it made it tough to get up and get going. My plants liked it though.

The picture featuring Meade is cinematographic.

You people may have already seen this, but I only came across it today, via 'daily dose of internet.'

With a telescope, you'll never run out of something new to look at, but without it, the never changing sky could get old.

The first two are exquisite! And I love the second in particular because my husband has made a hobby out of taking pictures of me taking pictures. Which pleases me to no end, since it's almost the only way I get into the vacation photos.

have you thought about putting your still pix together, into a moving picture?
It'd be fun to watch the sun move around as the year went by

Are the democrats going to use the Roe reversal as leverage to push for even more stringent ant-gun measures than what was originally agreed to? I wouldn't put it past them.

If Joe's approvals don't change and the expected post Roe reversal midterms bump doesn't materialize, what incentive do the democrats have to agree to anything bipartisan with the republicans, when asking for something they know republicans will reject, will ensure a cheap victory in the old game of blame republicans, Putin and Trump for school shootings?

Thank you for continuing to share the sunrise project with us. Many of the shots this month have been strikingly and creatively outstanding!
By the way, I just made a donation in support of the blog. I appreciate your fair and balanced commentary on the topics of the day.
Thank you

The fake insurrection is getting curiouser and curiouser all the time....

" How does Rachel, who lives in Pennsylvania, know every detail of the room that she “randomly” chose to breach with an ice pick and battering ram?"Leftists on social media begged and pleaded with the January 6th Witch Hunt Committee to call Rachel Powell in to testify in front of the committee, but like Ray Epps, the committee and the dishonest media that were all over the story of Rachel Powell initially, have lost interest into one of the most high-profile “insurrectionists” of January 6th."

A pro-choice earthquake has occurred in Arizona. Gov. Ducey has signed an educational voucher bill that permits parents receive and spend $7K per child on the their educational choices, including home schooling. The teacher's union cartel will not not be pleased.

Reading a column this morning on the 1972 Olympics caused me to recall George Foreman winning the gold medal in boxing in the 1968 games ... and then walking around the ring waving a small American flag. Times sure have have changed.

Still have a fondness for Foreman, including venison steaks coming off his grill.

Why does Nasty Nancy hate BROWN kids??
