Whether you supported her nomination or not, that is an important oath(s) she just took and it reinforces the court's roll. God bless her service and may God help her in her duties.
Of course we could also take a solemn moment to remember we might have witnessed the swearing in of Janice Rogers Brown had it not been for, you know, Joe Biden and...reasons.
She doesn't mean a word of her oath. The Constitution is a document of limitation on the created government. Lefties have been using hammer and tongs to beat the idea of limitation outta the document.
Not a single thing historic about her swearing in. She's just another who will legislate from the bench, which the USSC has had plenty since WWII. Of course for those of you who are about as deep as skin, go ahead and celebrate. It's a free country. But please don't pretend that skin color makes a difference. If you do, please explain how you reconcile that view with Clarence Thomas.
Sorry, I won't give it even one second. The last three days, I've taken an unofficial poll. Who is the new Justice, and what do you think of her. I work in the trades, so 90% of the 65 people I asked, are also in the trades or business people suppling the trades. The last 10% were wealthy transplants to Maui, living in Wailea and Makena areas. Typical response was, Who?? oh, you mean the woman who didn't know what a woman is... Biden chose her, right? she must suck. Mind you, Maui is one of the bluest parts of a very blue state. I think there is 1 republican in the senate, and two in the house.Obama carried over 60% of the vote, and I'm sure Biden got well over 50% The most typical response, was who cares. No one I asked mentioned how important the Court was or is. People who have real lives, don't care about the legal system, and when they speak of it, they do so with contempt. Interesting was the two responses from wealthy Wailea and Makena-average house price is over 6 million now- That the courts are out of touch, and biased toward the Dems, and other wealthy people. People with 'power contacts' Last response, from a couple who just got here from NYC- it, the court- is part of a corrupt and out of touch system. Most of America, I think, feels the same. the latest member of the court is just another party apparatchik, who was chosen because she has two X chromosomes, and dark skin. She might end up being a brilliant Jurist, but at this point people seem to be sick of the whole rigged game. The anger and disgust is shared by both sides of the aisle. and most of the people I spoke to were Democrats. People in power, whether D or R, are completely unaware how us uneducated rubes feel about things.
Why on earth should I accord her any more respect than that given Justice Thomas? Not gonna get in the lane. Is she going to recuse herself from any case where she has to decide who is a woman? Because she isn’t a biologist? Sheesh. Guess you get for what you pay which seems to be a bag of M&Ms. With nuts,
I wish her well. Two Bibles, I wonder what their significance is for her. The phrase in the second oath 'without respect to persons' caught my attention. This echoes a biblical verse that says, 'God is no respecter of persons.'
KBJ not assigned a circuit today. I guess the tradition to allow newbie and her staff to settle in before dealing with emergency petitions. She is from Miami, so I wondered if she might get 11th Cir.
I appreciate that she's the first black woman SCOTUS etc etc but are they really going to keep distinguishing her as the brown Jackson for the next few decades? We can see her we don't need it being thrown out there every time they say her name.

I didn't believe the part about the "1 republican in the senate" because a very good friend of ours, Sam Slom, lost that election in 2016. But I see that a Republican did win the seat bback in 2018.
When our family traveled to Hawaii in 2014 (to celebrate a son's college graduation), Sam took us through the Senate chambers. He is a great guy.

Meanwhile, like Progressives are trying to do to Trump, Good Morning America totally erased Thurgood Marshall, and Clarence Thomas, because they are conservatives. They sent out a tweet claiming Brown-Jackson is the first Black Supreme Court Justice. I'm sick of the idiocy already. Enough. Things like this make me dislike her because it just goes to show she was picked BECAUSE of her gender and sex....just like Kamala. What a shame. That is how she will always be known. https://twitchy.com/brettt-3136/2022/06/30/good-morning-america-ketanji-brown-jackson-is-the-first-black-supreme-court-justice-in-history/

Will she tell us what a woman is in her thank you speech?
Congratulations to Justice Brown Jackson! How many insults she’ll receive here will be indicative of The Cult zeitgeist.
Historic.
The FIRST BLACK WOMAN JUSTICE!!!!!
Just as historic as the first black woman vice president.
What was that business about God in the oaths?
If this post was put up by HRC, Althouse may suggest that the silent ‘n’ of solemn was meant to be a hint at the n-word.
Just like the HRC ad where pajamas made Althouse think of the n-word.
HRC really excites Meadehouse.
Cool.
I notice that neither oath states "I will support and defend the constitution of the United States, in all of its constantly evolving meanings".
So help me God? Is that even legal?
Let's queue up the next justice in waiting!

Yes, as in "Historic Photo Presaging America's Descent into "Wokeness" and National Decline"
Breyer has left the building. Good for him. Enjoy retirement. He’s been a federal judge since 1980.
Of course we could also take a solemn moment to remember we might have witnessed the swearing in of Janice Rogers Brown had it not been for, you know, Joe Biden and...reasons.
I also hope the first black female Supreme Court Justice does a more exemplary job than the first black female Vice-President.
'...our common calling"
Hopefully, she can figure out what a woman is sometime soon....
Maybe she'll pull a Charles Evans Hughes and knock off two firsts.

I had never heard that second oath before. #TIL

It's more than likely they don't care anyway, so there's that.

Everyone's just assuming she's a woman
Congratulations to the person Good Morning America lauded as the "first black Supreme Court justice."
Their tweet stayed up for five hours.
So the court is gonna be 22% black from here on. Over represented.
Good riddance to Breyer.
Who's holding the bible?
so now she and Thomas can go back and forth on banning inter-racial whatever etc. though we may never get to see it or hear about it unless /leaked/
Hopefully, she can figure out what a woman is sometime soon....

will she be looking for tampons in the boyszzz room?

"but are they really going to keep distinguishing her as the brown Jackson for the next few decades?"
"Take it easy," said Jackson Browne.

ABC manages to cancel not just Clarence Thomas but also Thurgood Marshall. (H/t Ed Driscoll @ Instapundit)
Man, she's a bigun huh?

Still have a ways to go to match the 38.4% proportion of abortions that black women have.
Disparate impact, ethnic cleansing or genocide?
They didn't show her daughters on camera. I think that's part of the new defensive posture for Supreme Court Justices.
Child molesters everywhere celebrate.
Imagine knowing the only two reasons you got this gig is because of your gender and skin color.
I'd be embarrassed. Heck, an honorable person would've turned it down.
I've worked with and been friends with Affirmative Action lawyers.
She's going to have a tough time.
