"At the time of my history with the Germans, there was a whole generation of young girls that missed out on their medals, their trophies, their awards, their chances of careers because the IOC did nothing."

Said Sharron Davies, who won a silver medal swimming in the 1980 Moscow Olympics, when the East Germans used drugs that were the equivalent of “putting girls through male puberty."

Quoted in "Sharron Davies: ‘The trans debate is toxic. It’s made my life hell. But female athletes must speak up’/The former swimmer, still driven by the injustice of not winning 1980 Olympic gold, wants an uprising from athletes to ensure swimming’s transgender ban extends to all sports" (London Times).

At the Moscow Olympics... East Germany claimed 90 per cent of the women’s swimming medals. “And nobody did anything,” she says, incensed. “I have friends who came fourth in the Moscow Games and no one ever has heard their names. The reason I am so vocal is I could not sit by and let that happen again.”...

[T]hose East Germans with whom she competed and who won the medals that she believes should have been hers — she regards them as the victims too. Because of the drugs regimes they were unknowingly placed on, they suffered horrific multiple health issues in their adulthood.

The woman who finished ahead of Davies in 1980 "has heart problems, fertility problems." "These young girls were guinea pigs," Davies says.

Thank God the pendulum is swinging back.

Combine German efficiency with communist morals and you get a whole bunch of Lia Thomases.

Wait a minute! Joe Biden said hormone treatment was completely reversible. Why are these German women spreading misinformation, or is it disinformation?

Shut up!

Boys, girls, and the third-way is why the Rainbow lost its luster and the transgender spectrum has split with social progress.

Brave girl, especially with the tranny police now. Those East German girls are suffering what is the future of many teen aged girls here.

Of course her chances were also increased by 60 or so countries including swimming powers boycotting 1980 Olympics.

"the IOC did nothing."

Kowtowed to the communists. As it has in recent years.

“putting girls through male puberty."

Wait, does that make a difference? Who knew?

"These young girls were guinea pigs"

As are most victims of the current trans fad.

More power to Davies. The patriarchy was always a vague target. Transgenderism poses a real threat. If women can effectively resists that, it will be a great victory for feminism. FINA was a start.

Also Kathy Cook, a female (woman!) sprinter who was a goddess (no, really) and would have had a string of golds if the Russians and East Germans hadn't been doping their athletes. She was later a PE teacher at Mayfield Preparatory School, in Walsall, England.

"Brave girl..."

She says: "I thought I’d not be able to live with myself if I did not stand up and voice my opinion. But it’s been very tough. A very small minority of very vocal trans activists have made my life hell. They have made threats on my life, on my kid’s life. They have rung my employers. They have rung up and tried to get me sacked. This is a very toxic debate."

IIRC... "We came to swim, not to sing". Good on this girl, she's still Olympic Class.

I always thought there was something hinky about those East German Youthsex Squads.

So many echoes . . . In East Germany the Party will decide what is a woman.

Yancey Ward म्हणाले...

The women competitors finally starting to fight back. Like I have written many times, the pushback has to come from the female competitors and their families and friends.

Howard म्हणाले...

Were you thanking God when the pendulum swunged the previous directions towards trans wokeness?

Drago म्हणाले...

Howard is very very upset no one is buying into his "female penis" theories.

Don't worry Howard, I understand there's lots of men's bathrooms where you can still buy tampons.

Enjoy!

The pudendum is swinging back.

I always thought that the shit would hit the fan when some money athlete in tennis or golf lost out on a big prize and sued....I agree with the ruling. There can't be more than a few dozen trans athletes whose lives will be affected by this ruling versus thousands of organic women who would always have to train with the knowledge that if some middling athlete in the men's division discovered his true sexual identity, then all their training was for nothing.....I think transpeople have difficult lives, and I wish them well. Truly. However, I don't think their banishment from competitive sport meets is the biggest sacrifice they will face in their crossing, and their insistence on doing so doesn't make them look good. It behooves people who insist on fair treatment to treat people fairly.

Strick म्हणाले...

"This is a very toxic debate."

Toxic transitivity? Not the only example of it. Actually, I'm a little sympathetic. Why not just give trans their own sports category? I know it goes against the argument they're really women, but give it an uplifting name so we can be fair to everyone.

285exp म्हणाले...

William, nobody is being banished from competitive sports, they’re only going to be required to compete against members of their biological sex.

I still have a Nat'l Lampoon cover from the '70s depicting a Russian female athlete with a distinct package. A joke then.
