I am told that the last two nights were a "Wolf Moon," when the moon at "full moon" enters full eclipse by the Earth and is bathed in long-wave light, i.e. the same orange-red color bias we see at sunset because the sun's rays pass through a thick wedge of Earth's atmosphere that soaks up the violet, blue and green end of its spectrum.

We saw some of that here in Eastern US. How was Wisconsin?

I'm watching Mozart Requiem, mostly the drummer woman when she's in frame, drab but with an unusual job. The soprano soloist is very good but not pretty. The bass soloist seems not to have any pitch a lot of the time. Chorus and clarinets are good. Captions are in English where you want Latin. The women all wear makeup. There are no glimpses of violinist bare breast the way there are in so many popular youtube classical favorites.

Our windows were finally delivered today. The siding and window installation will start tomorrow. Moving ahead again after about a three week break waiting for those windows to arrive.

Still feeling a glow from the lunar eclipse. It was a good one.

wondering if nuclear bombs have special signatures a la bullets and rifling and ballistic identification?

so Pentagon may have one from earlier Soviet stockpile in Ukraine that did not get returned to make this plausible!

Drago म्हणाले...

I wonder if we are getting close to a Ukraine-based modern day "Operation Northwoods"-like event in order to drag the US into direct confrontation and war with the russkis.

I'm probably not the first to notice that Oliver Stone enjoys conspiracy theories and puts them into his art. Some part of his brain probably gets a kick out of it.

I know a lot of people enjoyed J.F.K., but I came out of that movie scratching my head and thinking, "So Lyndon Johnson conspired to kill John Kennedy?" I thought that was stupid when I was in college and I still think it's stupid. There's a good book about the Kennedy assassination called Case Closed that's way better than Stone's stupid movie. The author, Gerald Posner, used to be an attorney and he might still be one.

Not to brag about attorneys -- attorneys wrote and voted on Roe v. Wade, possible the most fact-free opinion in the history of the Supreme Court -- but attorneys are often more concerned with getting the facts right than narrative filmmakers. (Not because attorneys are more honest but because "I might have to prove it" is driven into our brain at an early age).

You'd think Oliver Stone would have made a movie about a secret cabal of Supreme Court Justices who classified unborn babies as non-people in order to get the poor (and the brown, and the black) to abort their own children. But apparently it never occurred to him. Wrong facts, I guess.

Anyway, I'm not in the mood to click on links and go down any Oliver Stone's rabbit holes this morning. So this might be a fact-free opinion too! But I would suggest, given his history, that the truth is probably...

Oliver Stone thinks that a secret Pentagon plan to bomb the Ukraine and blame Russia might make a good movie.

Here's another paranoid thriller that Oliver Stone won't be making.

A radical leftist group infiltrates a California's teacher union in the hopes of indoctrinating little kids that Israel must cease to exist.

Funded by Saudi Arabia, Ollie! Chase it!

I actually think Judicial Watch is a very interesting organization and I'm glad they exist. I hope they win their lawsuit.

Nearly finished watching the season 2 of the series The Chosen. It is riveting.

As I watch the illegals flood the southern borders by the ten of thousands, the debate over Title 42 seems absolutely meaningless.

THIS is how you get MORE Trump. Why have laws at all, when violent lefties get slapped on the wrist to go out and do it again??

Stone is a crank, pure and simple.

I worked with Gerald Posner on his MLK book, and he is a very smart guy--made a bundle as a lawyer and switched to writing. (He did make one glaring error in misspelling an important Memphis lawyer's name, but the facts and logic in the book are impeccable to rational minds.)

I'm not familiar with his non-assassination-related stuff.

"Build Back Better". For who? The economy is tanking. Biden voters have a lot to answer for.

They kind of do. You can analyze the isotopes in the fallout and determine where the radioactive material came from.

Thanks for that reminder, Humperdink! I saw season 1, loved it. Haven't watched season 2 yet.

The guy who plays Jesus in that series is really good. What an incredibly hard role to play. I thought Jim Caviezel nailed it, too. (One of my favorite scenes in Passion of the Christ is when he's building a strange table for a rich man, and he has a conversation with his mom).

I thought Caviezel was so good as Jesus, when I saw him killing people in Person of Interest my brain about had a conniption fit. Jesus on a violent rampage for justice. Oh wait, he's not Jesus anymore.
