Saw John Mulaney in concert last night. He had two opening comedians on then a surprise set by Dave Chappelle. A number of twitter posts today slammed him for supporting transphobic Chappelle. Generally a funny show.

Venue made everyone put phones and smart watches in sealed bags for the show. Only could be opened on the way out. . . first time I ran into this and have been to a few concerts recently. YONDR was the "bag". Not a fan of being disconnected.

Walden Pond was colder last night and this morning. The weather earlier in the week caused cold water upwelling

"A wonderful bird is the pelican/his bill can hold more than his belican" I think Bertie Wooster attributed that to The Poet Nash, his standard of literary excellence, but apparently it was somebody named Merritt.

This was a nice visit w/Bret Weinstein, Heather Heying &Bishop Barron.
Very philosophical, but also scientific as both professors taught science at Evergreen.

OK, that is spectacular photography. I wish I were in a place where such things more or less fell into one's hands. I live in a place where we have all manner of birds, including some I have not seen until now. For the first time in a decade, we have a pair of Western tanagers ("common," sez Sibley, but not if I haven't seen them here in a decade). And then a flock of (I think) house finches that decided to descend on one tree here. I thought they were cedar waxwings at first, but, no. The peculiar thing is that a couple days later there were a different flock attacking the same tree, and they actually were cedar waxwings -- unless there is any other bird that has a crest and comes in flocks.

I'm pretty sure I've seen Western tanagers here in Eugene in the past two or three weeks (thanks, Merlin!). No pelicans, however.
