Those polls discussed recently turned out to be as worthless as polls usually are.

One less thing to worry about.

The big establishment types turned out. Legislature election in June.

If it can be stolen here, it can be stolen anywhere.

"Landslide" with a 38% approval rating, losing to LePen by 4 pts in the latest polling.

WEF, US meddling...undefeated.

Trump has as much chance of winning an election as the nancy-boy north of the border has in losing one.

Thank goodness and French citizens.

Guess 42% of france is "Far Right". How many are "Far Left"? Anyway, this is completely expected. It will be amusing to see all the working/poor Frenchmen who voted for Macron get screwed over by his globalist/neo-liberal policies.

You asked for it, you got it.

gspencer म्हणाले...

Again with the "far-right leader Marine Le Pen."

It's funny how Pen is described as far right when many of her policies seem to be almost communist. Perhaps we need new terms to describe political philosophies rather than where certain types of politicians used to sit in legislative buildings.

Right and left mean very different things in Europe vs. The US, leaving most people confused when they talk about politics on the other side of the pond. In Europe, it’s national socialist vs. International socialist. In the US, it’s (roughly) collectivist vs. Classical liberal.

So left vs. Right in Europe would be left vs. Left in the US. There is no European equivalent of the American right, so Europeans really have no way to talk about left vs. Right in the US.

"far right"

Piss off hack press.

because Inga is an expert on French politics. She cares about the poor and forgotten working class in France. LOL - NOT.

Swetnick cares about the tribalist elitist wealthy left keeping hold of power.

The French are determined to give France away.

Andrew म्हणाले...

I'll be honest. I just don't get it. Why are people consistently voting for the demise of their own country?

But of course, I'm "far right," and thus a fascist. I believe in immigration laws, for example.

I'll await the next beheading of a priest in a cathedral. Hopefully no more runaway trucks.

1st French President re-elected in 20 years with 58.2% of vote in a lowest turnout in decades and opponent linked with losing president of the 2020 United States election and ties with Russian Autocrat Putin. In 2002 Jacques Chirac beat this opponents father Jean- Marie, a family with a losing history. The political divide, as in the US, will be a challenge in next 5 years.

Browndog म्हणाले...

The victory makes Macron the first French president to win a second term in two decades - the first since Jacques Chirac, who left office in 2007.

*World markets warn a Le Pen victory would cause economic disruption not seen since Brexit*

I love the way the Lamestream Media© always calls conservatives "far right" but NEVER calls liberals "far left".

Inga supports Macron almost as much as she supported Soleimani.

Inga has to be pleased the islamic supremacists of France were in full political support of Macron, because of course they were.

Disposing of the wholly anachronistic French political spectrum. The center is conservative. The right is libertarian. The left is progressive. The far-right is anarchist. The far-left is totalitarian. The left-right nexus is leftist.

Elections. Projections. Democratic gerrymandering.

Our own election was steered through irregularities, fraud, misinformation, and disinformation. There is greater accountability with integrated audits in third-world nations.

Demos-cracy is aborted at the twilight fringe.

Michael म्हणाले...

There are no conservatives, no right wingers. Only far right. Far left does not exist.

Lesson for the US: don't run a losing loser against a weak president.

Is this the thread where we say it’s mean to call French folks far right?

And we cry because the libs we hate aren’t called far left?

Such an interesting POV. Thanks for jabbing about it over and over and over and……

charis म्हणाले...

Establishment Elite and Far-Right are the only options now.
Sad.

Lurker21 म्हणाले...

France is France. If you were French, you wouldn't have the same political options we have in the states, and we don't have the options they have there. I'm not too crazy about what we have to choose between here, and wouldn't be too enthusiastic about any of the choices they have over there either.

I've seen enough of American conservatives who say they want to slash budgets and cut departments, knowing all the while that something like that's not going to happen. The old rhetoric has no appeal to me anymore. We know it's not serious.

Le Pen has inherited many protectionist policies and ideas -- ideas and policies that may not be that terrible. She tried to become more "liberal," that is more "free market," but the upper middle classes whether socially and politically "liberal" or economically "neo-liberal" weren't having any of it.

It seems like the "Blue Wall" in France is educated middle class professionals who will never vote for Le Pen. Socialists and Communists may defect in disgust with the status quo, as do Gaullists and other conservatives, but affluent liberal types don't want to lose their status by voting for her.

The silver lining is that the US will from this point forward be able to save France again.

Peaceful warrior म्हणाले...

President Macron is center-right as defined by the French. Le Pen pulled Macron's rhetoric a bit to France's populist right but he himself is devoted to free markets, etc. The French left and Le Pen's populist right may yet exact some revenge for yesterday's decisive win in June's parliamentary elections. Mélenchon on the left is already making a pitch to become France's next prime minister when the National Assembly is seated and could further bedevil Macron's efforts to enact much need labor reforms in France.

rcocean म्हणाले...

If Le Pen is "Far Right" that means 42% of France is "far right". If Macron is center-right, that means 58% of France is also "Rightwing".

So, that means zero Leftists in France.

I guess.

Peaceful warrior म्हणाले...

Zemmour's candidacy helped Le Pen appear more mainstream by comparison. However, Macron successfully reminded voters of Le Pen's previous relations with Putin. This helped motivate an estimated 91% of Mélenchon supporters (22% in the first round of voting) to vote for Macron in the presidential election. Presumably, a similar percentage of Zemmour's followers (7% in the first round of voting) gave their support to Le Pen in yesterday's voting.

Greg The Class Traitor म्हणाले...

Gee, so no electronic voting machine, absolutely have to show State issued PhotoID, and they managed to get the election done.

So, why is it that Democrats have a problem with those things?
