The website at the local ABC affiliate in Seattle, KOMO has been down for weeks. There is some indication that the site has been hi-jacked, and ransom is required to restore operation.
I was able to see the KOMO site right now. I see Washington State is getting rid of a geographic location word that is apparently such a terrible word that they won't print it on their website.
I've been slowly working my way through Andrew Hickey's History of Rock and Roll. It's great.
But has anyone else noticed the volume of the music clips is much quieter than that of his narrative? Sometimes I have to crank the volume to hear the clips. I'm listening on Spotify. I hear the imbalance on both the mobile and desktop apps.

Blinken uses the death of Putin's one-year-old brother Viktor during the Nazi siege of Leningrad in the Second World War in appeal to Russian leader to stop 'starving' Ukrainian cities and 'end the war'

Yes. Appreciate that Ann talked about it here. I started by listening to a few songs I was interested in at random. But have gone back to the beginning and going sequentially. There is a noticeable difference in the later versus earlier podcasts. The writing/presentation style and overall production quality seems much improved in the later podcasts. I listen through Apple podcast app. Only use Spotify for Joe Rogan. Usually find myself searching YouTube for versions and covers of a lot of the songs he mentions. Can be a time sink for me.
"A senior Russian general was killed during fighting near Kharkiv, Ukraine’s Ministry of Defense said.
Maj. Gen. Vitaly Gerasimov, believed to be the first deputy commander of Russia’s 41st army, was killed in battle Monday, according to Ukrainian officials. Several senior army officers were also wounded.
Gerasimov’s death has not been confirmed by Russian officials or media.
Last week, Ukrainian forces killed Russian Maj. Gen. Andrei Sukhovetsky – another top officer in the 41st Army – in combat, according to Ukrainian officials and Russian media."
I made it through "Inventing Anna". Anna Delvey was a slickster who managed to con a few hotels out of some expensive lodgings and got a friend to pick up the tab at a luxury resort. As con artists go, she was no Bernie Madoff or Elizabeth Holmes, but she has a Great Gatsby appeal to the voice(s) of our generation. The series was produced by Shonda Rhimes and there's another one from Lena Dunham on the way. I guess she'll make more money from the rights to her story than from her crimes. There's a moral here somewhere.
I see Washington State is getting rid of a geographic location
My guess is that some scorned, childless 60 year old woman in a Subaru wants to re-name Puget Sound into the Salish Sea.
It's a little like the graffiti on the subway walls. No one will ever read it.......it's incomprehensible.......but they are proud of their accomplishment.
All I can really say to it is- they're lucky I'm not a parent- or now grandparent- of any of the children involved. There is, of course, no legal recourse, but there is recourse. And I wouldn't vote to convict any parent who decided they wanted some recourse.

It is impossible to rename that which has always been around:
"The Salish Sea is one of the world’s largest and biologically rich inland seas. Its name pays tribute to the first inhabitants of the region, the Coast Salish.
The Salish Sea is an inland sea that encompasses Puget Sound, the San Juan Islands and the waters off of Vancouver, BC. The area spans from Olympia, Washington in the south to the Campbell River, British Columbia in the north, and west to Neah Bay and includes the large cities of Seattle and Vancouver."
A sunset and maybe- a Wisconsin farmer tucking in the girls for the night? It looks like a barn… Somebody’s going to be getting to sleep in for a few days- if no sunrise cafes.
Well deserved, if you do! Thanks for thinking of us.
Idk about Inventing Anna. Delusional behavior and gobbledygook spinspeak freaks me out. It’s about control. That’s how I felt watching the trailer, at least.
While I appreciate Tucker's skepticism of hawkish interventionism, his criteria for what constitutes us being "at war with Russia" seems rather muddled. If it's, as he says, a result of the US having "inserted itself with force into the middle of a hot war between two foreign powers," then we've been at war with Russia since 2014.
Spring planting season in the northern latitude is coming soon. Fertilizer cost is up x4.
Nitrogen prices were up X4 last fall. Biden, not the war. Leftist will have it in their book of dishonest talking points. Same with price of gas. The war has put the cherry on top, but Biden made the sundae.
Progressives in Florida are crying that they can't teach 3rd grade and younger children all about sex and gayness. Progressives want them to be indoctrinated from birth. Why can't we let kids be kids while they are kids, instead of filling their heads with stuff they are too young to understand??

As I referenced in yesterday's cafe thread, what we're attempting to do to Russia by using our power as a global financial clearing house is approximately the same strategy that the Admiralty came up with in the early 20th Century for use against Germany, and one that they tried to implement in 1914. Blockade is an act of war, especially one that broadly construes what constitutes 'war material', and a blockade that involves pulling a cable out of a server is different only in degree but not in kind from one that involves putting a ship off an enemy coast. We keep trying to convince ourselves that economic sanctions are something that is not war but that is a position that mostly just allows us to feel like we're keeping our hands clean.
If that was a Polish flag Blinken was standing in front of, they hung it upside down. Par for the course for this bunch. So much power in the hands of children arrogantly unaware of of their ignorance.

As we used to say in NYC, that (in this case, passing the guilt) and a token will get you a ride on the subway.

Same here.
madAsHell: Your link reads "https://www.blogger.com/www.komonews.com", is that the one you're using to try and access it?
It still comes up empty for me. Maybe the problem is at my end.
Thank you, Mike of Snoqualmie for verifying that it WAS a problem.

Hi Ann,
was this a record day? 15 posts including the Cafe.
Should have saved some since the mountainous region of northern
Wisconsin probably does not have Internet service. yet. Maybe when Musk gets
finished.
Seems like many waterfalls that far north will still be frozen. Safe travels. I'mm
looking forward to the pictures.

I don't get it.
I rebooted all the computers, and network devices. I upgraded the firmware on the router.
I finally turned off the wireless on my cell phone, and I can see komonews using cellular data. My cable provider is xfinity.
