$200 million — that makes sense.

He would rather be the host of Jeopardy.

PM म्हणाले...

And, he's immunized.

Ice Nine म्हणाले...

I stopped watching NFL about 12 years ago. Started up again last year - simply because of Aaron Rodgers. Love to watch that guy throw footballs. His arm, eyes, and field savvy place him in the QB pantheon with just two or three others. My newly found appreciation of him is surely shared by scores of millions and that fact pretty easily justifies his $200M deal, I suspect.

Joe Smith म्हणाले...

It pays to be mediocre I guess.

When's the last time the man won anything?

His win/loss record is good, but he's won only one Superbowl, and that was twelve years ago...

God bless him.

Beasts of England म्हणाले...

Now he can afford to fill up his car!

Static Ping म्हणाले...

It is unlikely he will get paid all of that. The advertised number on large NFL contracts, especially quarterback contracts, is half bragging rights. It is unusual for anyone to ever get paid the full amount.

rehajm म्हणाले...

Not like they'll be spending it on Super Bowl parades...

Not until they figure out clock management on offense is important.

Patrick म्हणाले...

No one except women, children, and corporations pay attention to NFL anymore. So ask one of them

Ceciliahere म्हणाले...

Good! Love Aaron Rodgers. Now, that Tom Brady is gone, I have only one QB to cheer on and that’s Aaron Rodgers.

mccullough म्हणाले...

Lot of money not to even make the Super Bowl.

Humperdink म्हणाले...

$200 mil? Yeah, but only $153 mil is guaranteed. *cough*

Dear corrupt left, go F yourselves म्हणाले...

Denver... Denver Calling.. *click*

EAB म्हणाले...

I admit I’m disappointed. I’m married to a life-long Packer fan and adopted the team years ago, simply because my life is better when they win. And, Aaron went to my school, which helped for many years. And…I now live an hour from Lambeau. That being said, I would have preferred to move on. I don’t see Aaron as having the necessary hunger to win. He’s gotten too zen about life’s journey (other than his pride.) I dislike Brady, but Brady was personally outraged by any loss or threat of loss. I don’t see that in Rodgers. It would make me happy to be proven wrong.

hawkeyedjb म्हणाले...

Probably works out to about $200 million per playoff victory...

tommyesq म्हणाले...

Now the Packers can be great for years to come, with the bulk of their cap space taken up by one player. You know, just like the Manning-led Colts...

tommyesq म्हणाले...

The highest-paid player in the NFL plays for the third largest city in the 20th most populous state. At a population of about 108,000, Rogers will make about $463.00 per year per person in Green Bay. He will eat about 24% of the 2022 NFL salary cap. Next in line are the Falcons, Vikings and Texans, and what football powerhouses those teams are. Matt Stafford signed a five year extension in 2017 that made him the highest paid player in NFL history, and he only takes up 11% of the Rams' cap space. Rodgers is getting more than twice what Stafford got in that extension.

The highest cap hit for a team to make the Superbowl is Manning's 18.8% hit when the Colts lost to the Saints. The highest hit for a Superbowl winning team is the 12.6% that Tom Brady cost the Bucs two years ago.

This sounds like a solid decision.

Temujin म्हणाले...

What could be easier than playing Detroit and Chicago twice a year for $200 million?

Maynard म्हणाले...

As a lifelong Chicago Bears fan, I think pretty highly of this guy who has kicked our butts many times.

However, the numbers for the NFL and NBA stars are shockingly high. In a few years, Rogers will no longer be the highest paid.

Mark म्हणाले...

Lots of money for someone whose time passed long ago.

He won't get the whole $200 because there is no way he would win enough Playoff games go get the full amount.

And best of all, he doesn't seem to like training a successor, so they're not setting themselves up for the post-Rodgers era either.

DLH म्हणाले...

Beasts of England with the win! Hilarious

Mark म्हणाले...

Seems they could pay someone a lot less to not make, much less win, the Superbowl each year.

Then again, by paying someone less, they might be able to put that money toward a better cast of supporting characters and make it to the Super Bowl after all.

DUSTER म्हणाले...

Apparently this is the new Rogers Rate.

Original Mike म्हणाले...

The playoffs are nice, but I actually enjoy the regular season more. There's more of it. It's like life; enjoy the journey. I'm glad he's back.

Bob Boyd म्हणाले...

Lots of money for someone whose time passed long ago.

Rodgers was voted 1st Team All-Pro and NFL's MVP for 2020 and 2021.

Tomcc म्हणाले...

$200M. That's pretty good ego salve right there. Remind me again how many touchdowns they scored in that last playoff game?

CWJ म्हणाले...

I echo Temujin's 2:33pm comment. Rodgers, like Brady feasting on a pathetic AFC East for most of his career, basically has a guaranteed playoff berth. Unfortunately, he's also a demonstrated choker/blame passer in the playoffs. So yeah, he'll eat a huge chunk of the salary cap, and still blame the organization for not giving him the support he claims to need.

JaimeRoberto म्हणाले...

I guess he doesn't want to have a better team around him that can help win a Super Bowl.

BUMBLE BEE म्हणाले...

Pelosi is gettin jealous, he's closing in on her earnings.

Lurker21 म्हणाले...

$200 million can go a long way when you cut out haircuts, razor blades, and moisturizers ...

Richard Dillman म्हणाले...

It pays to be a libertarian…….

but only if you can quarterback a football team.

Lem Vibe Bandit म्हणाले...

Will the Packers have enough money left to sign the weapons Roger’s going to need?

tommyesq म्हणाले...

So no "Discount Doublecheck?"

walter म्हणाले...

Pureblood investment.

Jupiter म्हणाले...

I guess operating an NFL team must be really lucrative. But it is hard to believe that it would be 200 million dollars less lucrative if they let someone else play QB. How does that work?

Breezy म्हणाले...

He won’t be able to complain about a lack of weapons if he’s eating up the salary cap. That’s one thing Brady got right during all but the last 3 yrs or so in NE.

William50 म्हणाले...

Let's see how long this highest paid lasts. Rumor has it there could be a deal in the works between Seattle and Denver for Wilson.

gpm म्हणाले...

>>He would rather be the host of Jeopardy.

I thought he wasn't bad as host of Jeopardy but, just no, get a haircut.

But how easy will it be to cancel after the common? Asking for me, not a friend.

Mark म्हणाले...

"Rodgers was voted 1st Team All-Pro and NFL's MVP for 2020 and 2021."

He may have gotten a participation trophy, but he choked like always in the playoffs.

Tom T. म्हणाले...

Maybe he'll be able to afford a stylist.

Tom T. म्हणाले...

Coincidentally (?), Rodgers was just named Tank McNamara's Sports Jerk of the Year for 2021.

iowan2 म्हणाले...

Pat Mcafee, retired NFL kicker and radio show host, tweeted almost immediately that the contract has not yet been negotiated, but it will be way less.
Rodgers also tweeted that no contract had been finalized, but said it would be salary cop friendly.

I suppose it was leaked for some negotiating strategy by one side or the other.

Merny11 म्हणाले...

I’m glad he’s back. ONLY the Packers have had- what - 30 or so years with just two starting quarterbacks?? We are so lucky! And the envy of everyone else!

Tina Trent म्हणाले...

Maybe money motivates him.

Bunkypotatohead म्हणाले...

Maybe in 4 years he can start doing something useful.

LA_Bob म्हणाले...

"$200 million — that makes sense."

Yes, it does. 20 billion cents in fact.
