"There’s a tremendous amount of information she has on some very important people. Now that she’s been convicted she may be more eager to discuss."

"She certainly should, in my mind, because a lot of people skated here, while she bore the brunt of the government’s full wrath."

Said Jeffrey Lichtman, "the defense attorney who represented the Mexican drug trafficker Joaquín “El Chapo” Guzmán at trial two years ago," quoted in "Speculation grows that Maxwell may try to cut a deal for reduced sentence/Experts say any deal depends on whether US government believes it is worth investigating network that may have been involved" (The Guardian).
"It all depends on who she would be cooperating against, and what she has to offer. I would not be surprised if she had already tried to cooperate and it had failed.... They don’t want to take the hand of someone involved a criminal operation and let them cooperate against people who are well below them. That may be the case here – they just feel that she’s so bad they won’t allow her to cooperate,” Lichtman said....
Former federal and state prosecutor Elie Honig said on Twitter: “Maxwell’s cooperation is not particularly likely, but it is possible. You’d need (1) Maxwell to be willing and fully on board, (2) SDNY to be fully convinced of her truthfulness, and (3) a realistic plan to use her information versus others.”...

“Of all the people supposedly involved with Epstein, 99% of them never made it into the government’s evidence,” said Lichtman. “Perhaps they were trying to avoid any frolic by the jury – that they’d get distracted by the bold-face names – but many people didn’t get prosecuted here when it seems like they could have,” he added....

The lawprof Bennett Gershman asks whether the case cries out for more:

“Are the victims and people who really care about this case satisfied now Maxwell has been convicted or do they want to see other people in the larger network investigated?... They have limited resources and personnel, so does this case cry out for further investigation and prosecution? That’s a political decision by the US department of justice and the US attorney’s office.”

Another way to put that is: Does the case cry out for less

If it's a political decision, the political minds might want to suppress this story — to say, look, we got that one person and hope the response is: Good for you. That solves the problem.

But shouldn't Maxwell worry that as long as she's holding the story inside herself that she's a target for murder in prison?

One reason to tell all now is so that killing her won't work to suppress the story. Does she know or believe that Jeffrey Epstein was murdered and if so, who murdered him and why? How does she feel about that and what effect would that have on her motivation to continue to protect the powerful people she could talk about?

ADDED: Evidence that the political minds want to be done with this: "Federal prosecutors quietly dropped their case against Jeffrey Epstein's jail guards in the middle of Ghislaine Maxwell's trial" (Insider).

People who don't really know anything about QAnon sometimes say something along the lines that QAnon is "a conspiracy theory" about some pedophile ring controlled by political elites.

The real situation is that QAnon was (I think) President Donald Trump's son Eric Trump. Donald told Eric that the US Government was investigating a pedophile ring that involved some political elites. Apparently, Donald was talking about the investigation of the Jeffrey Epstein's activities.

Anyway, Eric then posted some QAnon cryptic references to that investigation -- among the many cryptic references that Eric posted in his QAnon disguise.

To call this situation "a conspiracy theory" is to demonstrate that you don't understand what QAnon was about.

QAnon was Eric Trump, posting cryptic messages based on what he heard from his father. For example, Eric heard his father talking about the government's investigation of Epstein, and so Eric posted cryptic messages indicating that such an investigation was being conducted.

Such an investigation indeed was being conducted. This was not "a conspiracy theory".

LOL: Funny story to drop on New Years Eve: https://www.foxnews.com/us/federal-prosecutors-drop-case-against-jeffrey-epsteins-jail-guards

Ever see the end of Burn After Reading where the CIA fixer buttons up the whole episode?

"He wants to go to Venezuala where we can't extradite him, what do we do sir?"

"Let him go! Right now! Next flight!"

And it's just a coincidence that Comey's daughter was prosecuting the trial. Not to mention that CDs and other computer evidence went missing during the raid, while the FBI was on site waiting for a warrant.

I am sure this was all done to protect Trump.

It's a mess but it isn't us, it's the news that is descending into chaos. If the DOJ doesn't expose the people involved then those people will be blackmailed for the rest of their lives - every time someone has, or says they have, Maxwell's little black book. The book will probably be stolen and then stolen back and sold repeatedly. Its adventures could become an Amazon series. A long series of exposures of the highest and the brightest and the best in the land. In short, the cover-up, if it happens, will be the death knell of Our Betters, the cheap imitation leaders who came out of the Nineties and who Trump was challenging. Yet exposure right now will also end them. So the interest of the story is over, except how it happens in fact. Maxwell did not commit suicide - yet. But the guards who allowed the Epstein "suicide" have just been let off prosecution. So ... so what? So, we should just get on with really unknown events that could be real news - our own lives and how they go.

I think if they had anything serious on Trump they'd have used it back in 2016 to either take him out or control him. If they'd had anything, they wouldn't have had to create the Russian Collusion hoax.
Having said that, if Trump is involved in this, then let justice be done...but not just to Trump, to all involved.
It seems at least plausible at this point our IC was using Epstein for trafficking minors to entrap targets and the Justice Dept knew about it, covered it up and allowed it to continue. That's what this is all about. They shouldn't be allowed to investigate themselves.

Isn't it obvious that Epstein was working for different factions of the global intelligence community as an expert blackmailer.

The truth cannot come out because too many powerful people are involved.

tds म्हणाले...

If Epstein/Maxwell's activities were not about pedo network but about sth way more important, people involved would do everything to make public believe it was about pedo network. It's a perfect distraction since it evokes visceral response making people blind about other stuff. Throwing in Trump (for Democrats) and Clinton (for Republicans) make them even more blind and salivating for settling the political scores.

So before discussing government tactics, it's necessary to consider what are all options of the real game being played. Otherwise, it is not clear whether US gov was a part of it, and mops up, or was not and is conducting a real, albeit hidden from the public, investigation.

1. US spy operation?
2. Foreign spy operation?
3. Epstein working both sides?
4. Epstein getting money from rich people trying to LARP as spies?
5. Influence/blackmail network to achieve some business goals?
...

there's lots of possibilities, probably clearest answer would be determined in the usual way, i.e. by following the money

'It is clear Epstein has spent decades building his kill switch.'

The whole point of having a 'kill switch' is that it is automatic.

Put all the damning evidence in multiple, encrypted files online.

If someone like Epstein doesn't log into an account and type in a password every month, let's say, then the information is automatically forwarded to multiple news outlets and decrypted for all the world to see.

I wouldn't know how to set this up, but I know people who do. Certainly someone with a billion dollars could pay someone to do this...

And what is the average sentence for a pimp/procurer in the US, and why should Maxwell get more or less than that average sentence? The prurient interest here far exceeds actual desire for any justice.

About the only useful thing to come out of this is leftist acceptance that Clinton should be convicted and damned for his documented trips to Epstein's Island, usually stated just after demanding Trump be crucified for appearing in pictures with Epstein/Maxwell at NY parties attended by everyone.

I don't understand why Maxwell didn't get out while the getting was good. And Epstein as well for that matter. He'd already been prosecuted once, they both should have had an exit strategy ready. There are plenty of places in the world where the kind of money they had access to would buy them a perfectly comfortable lifestyle and no fear of extradition. Her plan was to buy a luxury hideaway in New Hampshire, not going to ground in Brunei or the UAE. And he doesn't appear to have had a plan at all.

Because they weren't bright enough to get out, I think means they also weren't smart enough to have some kind of nuclear option ready if the authorities got too close. Money doesn't always buy smarts. It buys "massages" from teenage girls and Presidents as travel companions on your private jet but it doesn't buy an adequate sense of self-preservation. Apparently!

Bill Gates was good buddies with Epstein. His wife finally divorced him.

So was Bill Clinton.

The other names bandied about were George Mitchell and Bill Richardson.

Also Prince Andrew.

Doubt there are any other big names.

But there are probably a lot of men. And having sex with underage (especially older men and 16 year old girls) is despicable.

The government isn’t going to cut Maxwell any deal. They want this over.

But nothing is stopping her from having her lawyer release all the names of the men she pandered underage to.

Sealing of the evidence produced in a public setting requires the convergence of both the prosecution and the defense as well as a Federal Judge of no morals. It is outrageous and constitutes another effort to prevent the victims from obtaining justice.

1. Epstein was trained in hiding and laundering money.

2. He was NOT an investment manager. He had no staff to speak of. The Street didn't really know who he was. He wasn't taking 5% positions in Microsoft.

3. Epstein made his money as a fee for service for laundering and hiding money. And then blackmailing his pedo customers. E.g. How much would Tom Hanks pay for the world not to know of his sexual escapades. Former Speaker Denny Hastert paid millions in blackmail money.

4. Cooper says he has more to come on Epstein.
