Another dull sunrise — photo taken at 7:15 a.m. on the second to the last day before the solistice.

I knew before I set out that there was 100% cloud cover, so this dullness was no surprise. I centered the lit-up state capitol dome in the frame as a stand-in for the sun.

It has been bleak here. Snow on the ground would brighten things up nicely.

I'm beginning to detect a pattern here, and not just grey skies.

The Prof makes her first posts through the morning and lets the comments accumulate. Usually there will be one or two more posts by evening, but no guarantee--and by now no expectation--that comments will show up by then also.

One effect on me is that I'm no longer so concerned with being the first wiseacre in line.

And if not for the late-day posts, I'd become concerned that Prof had been attacked by a fox or fallen in the lake.

Can we be sure that the sun will turn back and head north? I understand that climate change says no.

Is it just me, or does Matt Taibbi have really annoying vocal fry?

Saw 'West Side Story' this afternoon.

Much better than I thought it would be, but there was one particular scene (no spoilers) where Spielberg went out of his way to show the white people in the film in a horrible light for no reason.

It was gratuitous.

And for some reason, he fell in love with lens flare...odd.

Climate change hysterics also say that the Sun isn't important to the climate. They must be right, right? We'll just get on fine no matter how much or how little we get. Just like the ice skaters on the Thames during the Little Ice Age. The ice was just a figment of their imagination.

It rained all morning here, but we needed it badly. The farmers can't plant wheat if the ground's too dry.

Sounds to me like Ann is being attacked by a wiseacre owlhoot. Outlaws are often referred to as “owlhoots” in and around Denver - but at least they wear protective masks.

Sadly: "What can't be cured must be endured."

Partly cloudy Tuesday morning, and rather chilly. Comme ci, comme ça,

We have known since the '90s that immunity to coronaviruses was never gonna happen, vaccine or no. They did experiments with cold viruses where they could reinfect a person a couple months after they had their cold with the same strain, and they would get infected, shed virus, potentially infect other people, but they wouldn't have symptoms. After a year, when reinfected with the same strain, they would develop symptoms. That's right, the common cold can be transmitted asymptomatically, science.

We knew this in the '90s but it didn't seem that important, an now people have been throwing ape shit at each other over this for two years. There is a reason that there is no vaccine for the common cold, and it's not for lack of trying.

Here, if you want to read about the study. This isn't some kind of tricky logic, they gave a subject a cold with a coronavirus, then exposed them to it again after time. There is no room here for fuckery, no "computer models" involved.

A tad bit nippley- as the saying goes.

The Seattle Times wants to raise quarterly subscription prices from $189 to $217. I pushed back about that increase and they folded. The subscription rate will remain at $189. Their increased costs are not my problem. They endorsed Joe "the moron" Biden and they can pay for their foolish endorsement.

Push back against price increases. That used to be the norm before The Moron(tm) was selected for office.

It isn't dull considering the alternative of seeing no more sunrises, ever.

It's gettin' near dawn
When lights close their tired eyes
I'll soon be with you my love
To give you my dull sunrise

That was the first draft of "Sunshine of Your Love".

You may be right, Narr; or it may be some reason for gray skies psychologically. Hoping it is not something health-related.

If not, though, if no special reason for the change -- it feels to me like a passive-aggressive comment shutdown. Get rid of the those awful right-wingers for good!

Poland, I think.
