"Perhaps – and I’m just throwing this out there – the best way to prove your movement isn’t a threat to women is to stop stalking, harassing and threatening us."

Tweeted JK Rowling, quoted in "JK Rowling’s address posted on Twitter by trans activists" (London Times).
“Over the last few years I’ve watched, appalled, as women like Allison Bailey, Raquel Sanchez, Marion Miller, Rosie Duffield, Joanna Cherry, Julie Bindel, Rosa Freedman, Kathleen Stock and many, many others, including women who have no public profile but who’ve contacted me to relate their experiences, have been subject to campaigns of intimidation which range from being hounded on social media, the targeting of their
employers, all the way up to doxing and direct threats of violence, including rape. None of these women are protected in the way I am. They and their families have been put into a state of fear and distress for no other reason than that they refuse to uncritically accept that the socio-political concept of gender identity should replace that of sex."

Political LGBTetc. has always been incredibly hostile towards heterosexual women. Lavender Revolution Dykes (their term) completely lie about who was on the receiving end of abuse in the feminist movement. Ditto Civil Rights types of the Jewish, white non-Jewish earth-shoe wearing, and black persuasion.

In that order.

We all have mommy problems. They should get a grip on that. Goodby Columbus, my ass.

I have had two slight but kind friendships with actual transgender people. They were both gay men who felt more comfortable in relationships that resembled heterosexual ones. Not much of a survey (though as good as most of academia produces), but neither of them struck me as being people who would accept or waste time abusing women or demanding special treatment. One of them sold a house to me and left behind, with a plat map detailing where the spring bulbs would bloom, a beautiful and skilled paper-mache torso wall-hanging of how he saw himself as a woman. My dad had inspected the house and admired "Elena's" plumbing and electrical skills, and Elena was thrilled that he didn't have any idea that Elena was a man, 6'4", fooling nobody but my dad, who was 6'4" and completely refused to believe me when I told him Elena was a man dressed as a woman.

They could have been twins except for the halter top and pigtails. They bonded over plumbing. The torso sculpture hung over the electrical box by the front entrance (bad choice, small house) for years. It was beautiful.

For years, I received shoe catalogues for big-footed women at that address.

I will never understand how an advanced, civilized society like ours can be cowed by a vociferous, but an apparently mentally ill one percent. Why are two lines of print or 2 seconds of air time wasted on these storm troopers? Why not just ignore them?

Stop threatening women? Then no women would care about their cause!

I can't believe the feminists have stood by while women have been so greatly disrespected. What happened to "I am woman, hear me roar"?

It sounds like they're targeting dissenters, not women.

I have a friend who grew up in a very cult-like fundamentalist church. According to him, they would say "we can't be a cult because we have the Truth." I submit that extremists always excuse their actions by such appeals. Right now, we are seeing a lot more of that from the Left Tribe than from the Right Tribe, but my contention is that these tactics are inherent to humans who have not learned to think critically rather than a systematic result of a particular ideology.

That in no way makes them any less repulsive. JKR makes an excellent point; eventually the Left Tribe is going to lose influence as a result of their overreach. Which is a good thing.

I have a friend who grew up in a cult-like fundamentalist church. They would always say "we can't be a cult because we are speaking the truth." Extremists always excuse their behavior by claiming a special exemption for the Truth. Right now, we are seeing a great deal more of this from the Left Tribe than from the Right Tribe, but I think it is more about human nature, especially from those who don't know how to think critically, than it is a result of a particular set of positions.

On the other hand, JKR makes an excellent point. Her detractors are behaving in a way that demonstrates that they have no ability to engage via reasonable argument. I suppose that's because reasonable argument is now considered white supremacy.

So one might think. But kudos to the trans activists for pushing the envelope and thinking so far outside the box.

Didn't you like the movies where somebody comes up with a truly idiotic plan and says "I know it's crazy -- but it's so crazy it just might work"?

Joe Smith म्हणाले...

She's right, you know.

There was some big 'Harry Potter' special that happened a few days ago to mark the 20th anniversary.

Rowling was left out of the celebration.

The three (previously unknown) ingrate stars of the franchise, each having made millions of dollars solely because of her vision, had no problem with that.

Ungrateful bastards...

There was a world, once....
where people with penises were called men, didn't insist (to the point of threatening violence) the rest of us call them women, and everyone understood there are only two sexes.

The transgender spectrum, political congruence ("="), and social progress under the Pro-Choice religion of the Progressive Church, Synagogue, Temple, Mosque, Corporation, Clinic, etc. Throw another baby on the barbie, it's over. Well, perhaps not open ended (e.g. second, third, or fourth trimester, and a granny or two, three), and only until the witch hunts and warlock trials progress (e.g. #MeToo; Some, Select [Color] Lives Matter).

Feminists were forced to take a knee to secure their rites. Women who subscribed to the gender ideology were surprised by their lack of Choice, as their diversity class was ironically reduced to just another negotiable asset with progressive leverage.

No biggie: psychotics do it all the time.

Trannies somehow thought so far outside the box of sexual biology they are astounded that lesbians don't want to have sex with trans-women with dicks.

You're giving kudos to seriously disturbed people. Only intellectual flakes do that.

One essential reality that all fanatical true believers (of any orthodoxy) cannot (or refuse to) see is that, to the degree they succeed in suppressing and punishing thought and speech that is abhorrent to them, they guarantee the certainty that their own beliefs and thoughts will one day be suppressed and punished, as prevailing orthodoxies shift over time.

Put more succinctly, the only effective protection of free speech and thought for any of us is our unremitting protection of free speech and thought for all of us.

What exactly is their cause? What are they fighting for? How will we know when their demands have been fulfilled and this crusade is over?

mikee म्हणाले...

Tommy: The purpose of the threats is to attain enough power that the threats can be enforced on those threatened. There is no other end game than power to oppress.

This week it is Trans folk, last week Gay folk, the week before it was immigrants, and so on, every week a new guest in the role of the oppressed, being used by leftists to accrue power to oppress, solely to accrue more power. It ends in camps & ovens, or it ends in freedom from such oppression.

Tina Trent, I knew a MTF transsexual about ten years back (we have moved since), and she was very much as you describe Elena: A very attractive woman, but over 6 feet. Hence, not entirely believable to most of us, despite everything else being right (voice, clothing, makeup, &c.) She probably had a hardish time of it in Novato (rural-ish upper end of Marin County, almost to Sonoma County -- a place where the pickups are small and dirty and look like they are actually used to haul stuff, very unlike, say, San Rafael). But she seemed not aggrieved.

Robert Cook, thank you very much for saying that. I agree entirely.

I do find it very funny that, all over the world, the Left is dependent upon female votes, but puts women at pretty much the bottom of the "victim hierarchy".

The only people lower than women are white cis het males. All other males are more important than women.

You'd think women would get tired of this, and start voting for the Right, where at least we treat them average

Rollo म्हणाले...

Note to self: when writing about transsexuals, be careful about references to "plumbing," especially when literally referring to plumbing.

This is an interesting claim by Rowling as both her houses have been written up in the UK papers, complete with photos. From what I understand her Scotland home is frequented by tourists to take a photo.

But she tweets about being doxxed and those who don't bother to look up whether this is really unknown unpublished info eat her words right up without thinking twice.

Ann, you should check your bullshit detector as this claim by Rowling does not stand up.

Publishing pictures of her house, without the address, is entirely different from publishing pictures of her house WITH the address.

Even you aren't stupid enough to be unable to tell the difference

From what I understand her Scotland home is frequented by tourists to take a photo.
From what I understand you are a lying sack of shit.
You got any support for your "understanding"?

But she tweets about being doxxed
Because the scumbags posted a picture with her address clearly visible. Which is pretty much the definition of "doxing"
