"The backlash has led to police telling her she should stay off campus for now and teach classes online."

"Officers have become so concerned about her safety that she has been given a direct hotline to call.... One social media user shared a picture of a man with a gun and the invitation 'Kathleen Stock rest your weary head.' Another post described her as 'on the wrong side of history' and said she would die alone. The academic, who is a lesbian, broke down in tears as she told of a 'culture of fear' taking over university campuses.... For the past three years she and a group of like-minded feminists have argued that men cannot become women by surgery and that it is important to protect women-only spaces in institutions such as prisons and refuges.... The campaigns against Stock date back to 2018 when a consultation was launched over the Gender Recognition Act and whether people should be able to decide for themselves which gender they wanted to identify as, without the need for a medical opinion. Stock spoke out against it. There were death threats at the time and a spy hole was set up in her office door for her safety."

The ultimate in feminism. Finally, identity politics bites its advocates in the ass.

So the women, who used to be men, who are intent on doing bodily harm to this other woman, who says they are still men - do the women realize what a negative public image of themselves and their gender choice this all seems to people outside their social group? Cannibalism is fine in a historical article, nobody minds it at all, but eating each other alive in public today is taking things a bit far, don't you think?

Need we really point out that it is NOT the Brexit, transphobic, Trumpist, insurrectionists who are threatening violence and death for this woman.

Question is -- when are the people of the left going to truly wake up and admit to themselves that their fellow leftists -- and maybe themselves -- are the real danger?

Let me See, If I've got this Straight?

A Lesbian, Feminist, Female, Professor; is having her life threatened... BY MEN!
(MEN! MEN WITH DISGUSTING PENISES!!!)

And, the reason WHY, is because she doesn't want MEN!
(MEN! MEN WITH DISGUSTING PENISES!!!)

taking over places and positions that belong to Women

Is that right? we're supposed to choose sides, between Lesbian Feminist Females, and MEN!
(MEN! MEN WITH DISGUSTING PENISES!!!)

Okay, sounds pretty standard... Wait!!?? What side is the left on???????

So now prisons will come in men's, women's and other (or unisex or non-binary).

Somebody is always wanting to build more prisons in America and this could give them the funds and legitimacy they crave.

"Why Reality Matters for Feminism."

It does, but not for the left. Sorry, Stock.

But feel free to join the reality-based community, over here on the right, deplorably committed to the notion that men are men and women women, that they deserve equal rights and have equal dignity, and that men should not be able to coerce women into doing things they do not want to do.

Those gloating over Stock's situation should reconsider their values. The issue is freedom of expression and belief, which a professor's colleagues and students are suppressing with threats of violence on behalf of trans radicals whose views are not even shared by many, if not most, trans people.

The claim that Stock somehow deserves this because she is a feminist, or a lesbian, or a lesbian feminist itself bespeaks a type of reflexive identity politics. The real threat is from authoritarians of all stripes.

Such utter depravity, abuse, idiocy, and hypocrisy.

I am not required to pick sides here.

Is it any wonder at all that those of us who live outside of such circles (freak parades) just want to be left alone?

Why does this shit happen? Why does this shit always happen?

We all know why, but not all of us are willing to say it because women seldom face legal consequences for the violence they commit, the rolling pin rule.

Here it is: Feminism is an ism without an ology. Feminism is more like dwarfism than some other isms like stoicism or resistentialism (look that one up!) because its axis is a fundamental biological truth. When fundamental biological truths are rejected, feminism goes ka-boom like an Illudium Q-36 Explosive Space Modulator. (Isn't that lovely? Hmmm?)

The T is the tail that wags the LGBTQ dog. It gives LGBTQ organizations a cause fight for. Maybe it's time for the Q to start wagging. Now more than ever a little questioning is called for.

She's right to be worried about women having to share bathrooms and prisons with men who identify as women, but the controversy about groups and events like the Michigan Womyn's Music Festival banning transwomen could be broadened by asking whether they should be explicitly excluding men at all.

Keep the performers third string and turn the womynishness up to 11 and very few guys will bother to show up anyway.

It might help you to count the authoritarians on each side then figure out who is being oppressed. I see the vast majority on the left which has adopted identity politics.

It is easy to mock both the professor and the array of dubious characters threatening her, or as it has been said, having mostly peaceful protests of her writings and commentary.

But what is actually happening is the breakage of civilization. It is easy to break windows and light fires, while good people do nothing.
The slow grind of building a civil society is dull and boring. It is when good people put out fires and do not allow windows to be broken. It is just too bad the elitist think that this incident doesn’t need to be met with the full power of the state.

And because the state will not act to protect this professor’s ideas, evil people will flourish.

Sue the university for maintaining a hostile educational environment. Make the university live it to its rules. One of the Sal Alinsky's little rules.

Consider this: While there are people who wish (demand?) to be able to decide for themselves which gender they want to identify as, there are certainly many people who do not think for a moment that a man is a woman just because that man "looks like" a woman and self-identifies himself as a woman. Someone's fantasy is not reality and, being a realist, I have to declare that the "woman" is a man. This is a post-modern version of The King Has No Clothes.

"Those gloating over Stock's situation should reconsider their values. "

Yes. One of the worst features of online conservative discussions, is a rather vicious tendency to celebrate the destruction of anyone by the left, who is seen to have left-of-centre values or beliefs. There's a 'serves them right' attitude.
Glenn Reynolds seems to have led the way in this, with one of his recurring motifs, categorizing such stories as simply the latest chapter in "Annals of Leftist Autophagy."
This represents a failure to see the big picture, particularly the systematic destruction of progressivism by socialism, and the take-over of the centre-left by the hard left. This is not a good thing.
Usually the victims in these 'leftist autophagy' type stories are not politicians or civic leaders, or people with any power beyond your average citizen. They are simply individuals found guilty by the far-left woke mob of wrongthink. They should be defended and protected. And yes, a professor you've never heard of, who teaches at a university you've never heard of, is an ordinary citizen, regardless of your opinions about the state and trajectory of higher education.

Skimmed the book for a review. She, like every single gender critic, completely fails to see how this movement was institutionalized in 1997 using hate crime laws, which were the first government recognition that gender isn’t “born sex,” and so attacking biological women is not hate but merely normalized and normal, so long as you don’t at least think you’re attack a trannie or lesbian.

Lazy work, and not enough footnotes to the point of plagiarism. There are far better books out there. But it’s repulsive that she needs protection, and we ought to all have the courage to stand with her. Otherwise, we’re just sniveling bastards.

How many people need to die for free speech before you do something about it, especially those of you in the law and academic worlds? Won’t anyone at her university walk beside her and sit through her classes to protect her? Are they ALL sniveling cowards? Where are the men?

Kai Akker म्हणाले...
