Per the "confederacy affilation cancellation rules" propagated by pro-marxist pro-CRT Biden voter LLR Chuck (according to LLR Chuck, only statues of confederates would be coming down and anyone saying it would go further than that was a white supremacist liar), Thomas Jefferson has been posthumously promoted to Brigadier General in the Armed Forces of the Confederacy.

Jefferson follows Abraham Lincoln, Theodore Roosevelt, Francis Scott Key, Father Juniper Serra a large rock in Wisconsin, amongst many other non-Confederates, and some mere passersby, in achieving this posthumous distinction.

In the "Sunset" department, did anyone else see the video clip in which Biden talked over a band that was playing, and Jill rescued him? Powerline has the video:

Interestingly, Tater Stelter, the CNN Media "critic" democratical operative (beloved of pro-marxist pro-CRT Biden voter LLR Chuck), continues to avoid discussing how CNN blatantly lied about and continues to lie about Joe Rogan, even though morons like our own LLR Chuck proclaimed CNN in the right and Rogan in The Very Very Very Wrong.

If so, why is CNN running away from that story as fast as their fat little Tater legs can carry them?

Hmmmmmmm.

Casper, the Jack Russell woke first, and proceeded to burn a whole in the side of my head with her eyes. Finally, I relented, and opened my eyes.

She proceeded to tell me that she has always been llamo-fluid, and now she was going full trans-llamo. Her new name would be Brandon.

Her new pronouns would be dumb, and dumber. I accepted this, and decided she should have a coming out party at the off-leach dog park.

All of her old friends were at the dog park, and Brandon was having a great time.

We navigated the entire park, and then it was time to go home.

I called the dog, but “Let’s go, Brandon” fell on deaf ears.

I repeated the command, “Let’s go, Brandon!!”, but louder.

Again, “Let’s go, Brandon!!”, a voice full of impatience, and promising pain.

From the other side of the park, I hear……”Let’s go, Brandon!!”

By the time I had the dog back in the car, the park was fully involved in a “Let’s go, Brandon!!” chant.

True story!!

I was reading through the comments on a vaccination article in a liberal rag- intending to add one. Decided it was pointless. A good 1/3 of the comments stated absolutely that vaccination immunity to the dreaded covid was better and longer lasting than natural immunity.

I don't think any of the commenters here are ignorant enough to claim that today. Maybe 12 months ago, but even the most indoctrinated by now can see that's not the case.

I did make a comment on a supposed libertarian site:

....We’ve known since the very beginning of the covidiocy that low Vitamin D levels predicted who was going to end up in the ICU. Now with more than a year’s worth of data- Vitamin D all by itse;lf seems to keep people from dying- if they have enough of it when they contract the dreaded covid, not as an after they get it treatment. The study running the numbers:
http://www.medrxiv dot org/content/10.1101/2021.09.22.21263977v1
... I can look this Vitamin D stuff up easily. It’s all out there. And if I can look it up- anyone can look it up. Start looking it up- then ask yourself- “Do they really care about my health?” The answer is obvious- No.

There was a lot more to my comment but that's the gist. First reply?
Isn’t the more likely answer that you’re a loon? Do you think your googling for non-peer-reviewed studies that support some weird preconception you have is somehow a better approach than actual science?

It's impossible to have a rational discussion with science deniers who believe in "consensus science from approved experts" rather than actual studies and real life numbers. I will point out the next 3 commenters pointed out his error. In that I was quoting actual science. Which of course he will dismiss as dangerous ignorant right wing delusions. I refer to it as "supposed libertarian" because there are an awful lot of people commenting there who think vaccination should be forced upon the unwilling.

Then there's the article in Slate showing up on the internet today with the headline "Why Obese People Should Get COVID-19 Vaccine Priority". There are several identifiable subgroups that you can assume before testing are going to have low vitamin D blood levels. One of them is- the obese. I know Vitamin D is a fat soluble molecule, and for reasons, possibly related to that, most of the body's Vitamin D intake in a fat person goes straight into the fat cells. Which are not part of the immune system. We know the obese are more likely to die of the dreaded covid. Are they dying because they're fat? Or because they don't have enough circulating Vitamin D because they're fat? Similar but different issue. It would be worth it to find a few dozen obese who are anti-vaxxers, measure their existing Vitamin D levels, and providing them with enough supplements to bring their Vitamin D level to 50 ng/ml. Be cheap compared to most other studies.

FYI- my last measured level was 60 ng/ml. I've had multiple CDC defined close exposures to the dreaded covid- and haven't contracted it. Unfortunately, I'm just one person, which makes it an anecdote, not data.

Jeff Bezos News Pamphlet, the Washington Post, this very day offering up another LLR "Very Hot Take":

Opinion: Don’t rant about short-staffed stores and supply chain woes. Try to lower expectations.
https://t.co/3CLpV5HXbG

"We’ve gone from “the supply chain problem is just because the economy is so great and we can’t keep up with demand” to “stop complaining, peasants” in one day."

Indeed.

I feel worst for gadfly who will be having a devil of a time figuring out which democratical/LLR lie is the one he/she/xe will run with.

Thoughts and prayers.

Bill Gates reportedly advised to end inappropriate emails with female employee in 2008

“These claims are false, recycled rumors from sources who have no direct knowledge, and in some cases have significant conflicts of interest,” the spokesman said.

In the 4th grade, he kept getting his ass-kicked on the playground during recess. So, the librarian at View Ridge elementary school let him re-shelve books during recess.

Lakeside begins with 5th grade students.

I was a year behind him at View Ridge. I thought his ass-kicking had something to do with homosexuality.

Deep thought for the day:

Are the aesthetics of sunrises the same as the aesthetics of sunsets? Are the things that make a sunrise beautiful the same as the things that make a sunset beautiful?

Related:

How different are sunrises and sunsets? Is it easy to fool people into thinking a picture of a sunrise is actually a sunset? (Let's assume there are no geographic clues the observer can use to tell east from west).

Are there any objective criteria that can be used to distinguish a sunrise from a sunset?

“Wonderful to see Colin Powell, who made big mistakes on Iraq and famously, so-called weapons of mass destruction, be treated in death so beautifully by the Fake News Media. Hope that happens to me someday. He was a classic RINO, if even that, always being the first to attack other Republicans. He made plenty of mistakes, but anyway, may he rest in peace!”

yes!
Sunrises, have a general tendency to be East of the Meridian
Sunsets, are Almost ALWAYS on the Western half of the sky
:)

Also, the air is (usually) cooler in the morning, and warmer in the afternoon
This means that sunsets are (often) in more humid air
Finally, there is (usually) more activity during the day... More activity means more dust, more dust means more colorfulness

Nearly 80% of Republicans Want to See Trump Run in 2024

https://thehill.com/homenews/campaign/577453-nearly-80-percent-of-republicans-want-to-see-trump-run-in-2024-poll

If my arithmetic is correct, that would make it difficult to reach the level of 90% of the electorate disliking a rematch of Trump-Biden.

That estimate was not an accurate reading of the American electorate.

These are statistical things that suggest a sunrise versus a sunset. You still can't tell for sure.

In my original post, I wanted to abstract from such things and focus on ... I'm not sure what. I don't know how to say exactly what I am getting at. But ... you know! Come on man!

Maybe a sunrise tends to have bluish tinge, going up the sky from fire to sapphire, whereas a sunset has reddish, dusky tinge? But that's in the air. It wouldn't show in the kind of pictures Althouse is taking.
And a sunrise in autumn will often show all the valleys filled with mist whereas at sunset that mist has only begun to rise. Again, this doesn't apply to Althouse.
Where I lived you could see sunrise and sunset over a water horizon line on Lake Michigan in summer I remember a deep copper color in the water which I don't remember at sunset. There it would be more pinky-golden or reddish dusky.
I guess I wouldn't want to say that I could for sure pick out a sunset from a sunrise over Lake Mendota from two random snapshots which did not show time or direction. Yet I think the light is quite different so I wonder if I would be able to tell the difference if the two shots were on the same day. Or if I had a histogram of each.
Anyhow I know Althouse is taking dawn pictures and they're great. I like to see all the different ways a day begins.

I think there's More Blue Sky in a sunrise, and More Orangy Red skies in a Sunset
That is; a Sunset 'seems' 'warmer' than a sunrise...
Mostly for the dust/humidity reasons ...
But, Also, i'm sure; for Psychological Reasons
If you're PAINTING a sunset (or, to Some extent; filming it), you're wanting a hazy fuzzy sentimental feeling for the nostalgic end of the day.
If you're doing a sunrise; it's the crisp brand new Start, to a crisp brand new day

Of course; if you take a picture of every dawn, every day; there'll be a range of clouds dust haze, etc. The REAL thing you'll get with every sun, every day; is the Sun moving north and south ... which is kinda cool

I used to go to The Ledges state park, (very nearly) EVERY Sunday evening; and watch the Sun sink into the hills over the Des Moines River. I'd get there while it was daytime, and watch the Sun sink slowly into the West, taking another week with it. I'd stay until after dark... Which to me meant the START of the new week. To Me, Sunsets are AFTER the sun's set... Sunrises are after the rise.

Of course, if you went to The Ledges every Sunday, you'd ride your cycle as much as you could... Even though it's FULL of deer. Which, of course; is how i got my Traumatic Brain Injury. Stupid deer.... They should be shot

I've always had a very subjective sense that the quality of the daylight varies from one day to the next. Not seven days a week or anything like that--just a feeling that Monday light is a little different from Saturday light, for instance.

A kink in my wiring I guess.

"On the final day, as the last delegates were signing the document, [Benjamin] Franklin pointed toward the sun on the back of the Convention president's chair. Observing that painters had found it difficult to distinguish in their art a rising sun from a setting sun, he went on to say: "I have often ... in the course of the session ... looked at that sun behind the President without being able to tell whether it was rising or setting. But now at length I have the happiness to know it is a rising and not a setting sun."
